Customers are saying
Customers have good things to say about the Ultra Streaming Device's ease of use, picture quality, and remote control. Many appreciate the inclusion of a headphone jack and Dolby Vision, along with the device's 4K capabilities and smooth performance. The user-friendly interface and straightforward setup are also frequently praised. A common concern, however, centers around the remote's battery life.

Great upgrade - minor annoyances
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, this is a HUGE upgrade from my old Roku 2. It connects, surfs and operates soooo much faster! That is probably my favorite thing about this new Roku. I also appreciate its ability to decode 4K and Dolby sound as I recently purchased a new sound system. It's a great addition to my system. I have only two gripes. The first is the remote pinging sound. It will start pinging the remote out of nowhere for no reason that I can find - annoying, but not a huge issue. The second is that the unit will sometimes just crap out and reset - sometimes in the middle of a program. I never had any issues with this with my old Roku and are not really sure why this happens. Again, this is annoying, but not a huge issue for me (if a person gets super upset because their show stops in the middle and has to reset - well, first world problems! Remember when we had to wait a week just to see the next episode and there were only four channels?) I also like that there is a Disney+ button. Just need a Prime button to complete the trifecta. I chose this unit over the Apple TV because it's cheaper and I don't need storage. This unit works very well and exceeds my needs!

Great upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to replace the 3 year old premiere+ and so far it has been a significant improvement in speed, picture quality and features. Dolby Vision addition is great. Took advantage of the 30% off and recommend waiting for a sale since it is quite pricy.

Awesome? Um, yeah.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cool if you're not into paying for cable, because you're just not into TV to begin with, like me. More than enough content for that short attention span. Definitely like the remote control headphone jack. I'm surprised I don't see that more often.

Dolby Vision support is why I bought
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am so glad Roku finally added Dolby Vision support. This has been lacking for so long. I own a lot of movies on VUDU, and I really don't have interest in being bound to Apple TV/Apple Products. Amazon Firestick supports Dolby Vision, but they don't support VUDU. Finally, I have my VUDU library with the best picture quality available (streaming-wise). Other than that, I actually think the processing speed is a tad slower than previous Roku Ultras, but it's very miniscule. I don't know if it is the Roku or my Onkyo AVR, but when you switch from one app to another or begin streaming a movie/TV show, there is a delay in video on my screen. I think it may be the AVR, but I am just going to accept it for now because I'm tired of trying to figure out the culprit. There is a known issue with Rokus in regard to HDCP2.2. On YouTube TV, several channels, such as USA, have different settings between the show being broadcast and the commercials. The Roku doesn't handle the change in HDCP2.2 smoothly. You'll have many commercials just go blank while the audio will be intermittent. When the TV show resumes, you're fine. Amazon Firestick handles this flawlessly, and based upon user comments/threads online, this is a known issue that Roku does not seem to want to address. If you contact them, and if you are lucky to get a response, you'll get the usual "It's all on you," which means a) try switching HDMI cables, b) try plugging directly into the TV, c) try resetting the Roku to default and reloading all of your apps, d) stand on one leg while watching, e) etc. It's always a user error according to Roku instead of "Thank you for this. We'll begin testing to figure out the issue." This is my #1 complaint of Roku, and I have used Rokus now for years beginning with the Roku 2. Of note, the Roku 3, which doesn't have HDCP 2.2 since it doesn't support UHD, doesn't have as many issues with the YouTube TV commercials. It's something in the OS. Overall, I am fine with Roku, and I am glad they have added Dolby Vision. If Amazon Firestick were to add support for VUDU, then I would be very inclined to abandon Roku.

Game changer
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was sick and tired of cable so I bought this Roku to move into streaming services. Best decision ever. Every app works perfect (Fubo, Netflix, Max, Disney+, Espn+, Hulu, etc). It NEVER lags and it is pretty fast.

Worth MORE!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In a word... FANTASTIC! We have converted all our cable boxes to Roku Streaming Stick+ but wanted something better for our "main" Samsung TV in our den. The BB sales price was the final decision to get this one for that higher-quality TV. The look and feel of the packaging alone was high-quality. It was all padded inside. The feel of the unit, wiring, and remote with 2 memory buttons was quality. It was easy to install and set-up (as usual with Roku). It responded faster than the Stream Stick +. It did require an AC power outlet versus just a convenient USB port option (like the Stream Stick+) but we luckily had a convenient one (hint to Roku for next version). So if you want the latest tech Streaming device to compliment your latest-tech TV get this especially during the sale. It would be overkill to get this for lesser tech TVs unless you really want the memory buttons and perhaps the ability to send photos, etc... through it. PLUS the Stream Stick+ might be better for you if you are not sure where you would put this device block and how you would conceal the two long wires (HDMI and AC power) for your wall-mounted TV if there was no nearby cabinet, shelf, etc... If your wall-mounted TV has also a USB port, then the Stream Stick+ can be mounted with no wires showing anywhere. It might require an inexpensive HDMI adapter (available from Best Buy) to get it to be in the best position, but when they are installed that way they are very sleak and simple. This Ultra is one of those rare times when it feels like you get MORE than you paid for. Combine that with the BB excellent customer service, price protection and return/exchange policy and you'll pat yourself on the back and wonder why everyone hasn't done this.

Roku Ultra is great
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set up was a snap. Having the ability to turn on the tv and control the volume from this remote has been a lifesaver. I now have all 3 types of Rokus and this one is definitely worth the extra price. So much so that I'm thinking of upgrading my other 2.

Worth it!
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recommend Roku devices to everyone. These are great and much better than the built in Smart TV services. It is an extra device to have/hookup, but well worth it. Much faster than my Samsung TV's smart capabilities.

A Must Have For LG WebOS TV Owners!
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We own an LG WebOS-based 4K TV, and while the picture is great, the streaming options/apps are limited, and the remote is awkward, so I decided to purchase a streaming device. I spent hours upon hours researching Home Theater PC's (HTPC), and I let my son talk me into getting an Apple TV. That remote is also awkward, and having no other Apple devices, nothing could be improved. When I was almost ready to throw the AppleTV out the window, I looked back to Roku. There were some services (HBOMax at the time was one) that were just coming available on the Roku. I chose this device specifically for the Ethernet input, memory, and 4K/Dolby Vision. Everything looks amazing, and nearly everything is available. This device also works well for casting. The device NEVER, EVER lags.

Pretty happy
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace my Apple TV. While some things are not as good, i.e., responsiveness is slower at times and it will freeze once in a while, I think I like it more. I have another Apple TV for my other TV, so I have used both a lot recently. The price of it is much better than Apple's. The Big plus (for me) with the Roku is the "mute" button on the remote. Apple TV is just too good to do that to their remote I guess and it drives me nuts that I have to have my sound bar remote too, (if I want to mute). Two bigger downsides are - 1. The remotes FF and quick rewind works a little differently in each streaming channel. It's frustrating, in one channel hitting the quick rewind will just rewind 10 sec, in another channel it brings up individual frames and then you have to press play. It should be the same in each and just rewind 10 sec. 2. The voice feature is nice, but if you want to search in a streaming channel, like Netflix you can't just talk to it and have it search in Netflix. It takes you out of Netflix to Roku' s search area in the main menu and searches everywhere. With the Apple TV I could just speak a name and it would put it into Netflix's search, or Hulu, etc. Overall, even with the minuses, I think I would pick this again over Apple TV.

My dad loves his Roku I bought him
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this for my dad - he loves it! Roku Upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the Roku Premiere for about a year, very pleased but decided to upgrade to Roku Ultra, more features with the remote and most important I can connect to my router with ethernet for more reliable streaming. I'm also pleased with more Free streaming services from Roku, great bargain compared to cable. ONLY negative with Roku Ultra is on occasion the screen display becomes too large and I have to re-input back to 4K or I go Auto and screen is too small- did not occur with the Roku Premiere, I choose 4k HD because of my LG, problem may be my TV since it's a 2016 model no longer sold by LG. All in all, I'm very pleased with Roku Ultra.

Best UI. Love the remote. Roku for the win
||Posted . One of the best UIs on the market, great 4K content, and a solid price makes this one of the best streamers for me on the market.
