I did some research prior to purchase and was very interested in finding a chrome book with 4GB of ram. After a lot reading and seeing this laptop rated high by other users, i went forth and selected this Samsung Chromebook. I have to say it's incredibly easy to use. I'm able to have mutliple tabs open, stream music and watch videos at same time, which doesn't seem to effect performance. I wanted a cheap laptop to carry around and travel with just for surfing and general editing of documents as needed. This one fits perfectly - extremely lite weight and boots up very fast.

I actually bought this for my partner mainly, it was a present for him, and I sometimes use it to poke around on the internet and shop while sitting on the couch, we also plan on using it when we travel so that we don't have to bring my big, professional laptop if I don't even need to work while out of town. I personally have high expectations, I work on both desktop and portable Macs in a tech centric/design field, so I'll preface with saying I'm spoiled and I use high end computers a lot and my eye is trained for color because of my profession. The display on the Samsung Chromebook 3 has a fairly heavy blue tint and the colors are very desaturated. I notice this and it drives me a bit crazy, because all I do all day is work with color and color correcting images. I was actually shocked after getting this home and seeing the display that there were no reviews mentioning how off balance the colors are on the display. I even went back into the store and looked at the display model to compare it and make sure it wasn't just that ours was defective, but the display model had the same color tint and saturation issue. Others may not notice unless they compare it to a better, more neutral display, but if you're doing any kind of online shopping you may be surprised when products show up and discover that they are far, far more vibrant and warmer than they appeared on your display. So that's one strike against it for me, it bothers me, because part of why I wanted this was so that when I was shopping online I didn't have to sit at my desk on my work computer, however it doesn't bother my partner in the slightest, not that he's buying things online based on color. For basic web browsing and word processing it won't really matter. Another reason we bought it was to watch movies while we're traveling, however the speakers are incredibly quiet and since they are on the bottom in an apparently not too well located spot it is very muffled unless you lift it up on something (even then we can barely hear it). Then there's the whole thing with how the screen is desaturated so the image is not that great for watching movies. I have some issues with the mouse jumping around while I'm trying to scroll with the two finger scrolling motion, it's frustrating, but my partner has bigger hands/fingers and doesn't seem to have the issue. I'm not sure why it doesn't seem to sense my fingers often, I own another laptop and don't have issues with the trackpad on that. It's also a bit slower than I had expected, but again, I'm used to working on a very fast computer for my work that cost 12x as much, so my comparison/expectations are maybe too high and I'm also one of those people who has a million tabs open in Chrome at all times (you really can't do that with this Chromebook, once there's more than 3 open it really starts slowing down). For basic web browsing and word processing in Google Docs I think it's sufficient. It's a great size, the construction is good and the body is sleek, it's very light weight and it's extremely cheap. I think if you don't want to or can't afford to go over $200 but need something to get online with it's a great option, probably one of the better Chromebooks in it's price range. I personally would rate it 3 stars, but due to my bias of working with higher end computers for my daily purposes and just how cheap this Samsung is I'm adding another star. I feel like for $179, you're probably actually getting a bit more than you're paying for. As far as screen clarity and speaker volume if that's an issue the Asus 11" 2-in-1 has similar specs, but far better quality display and speakers, however it's around $100 more and has a clunkier body, not as attractive body. Had we been able to see the $199 HP Chromebook in the store and tested that out we might have gone with that one, but the Samsung will do for now.

My desktop got a virus. My wife and I (in our late 60s) used it for FB, paying bills, emails and pictures. Fearing a small fortune to get it fixed, we just used our tablet to do what we wanted on line. That was fine for a while but we missed the bigger screen and a keyboard. My son said look at getting a Chromebook. We never heard of it. Naturally I looked at Samsung first, because I love Samsung products. It amazes me that hardly any stores have Chromebooks on display. Best Buy had 3 but you have to look to find them. They are not with the computers. They didn't have a Samsung but they ordered it for me. It is so easy to operate. If you think you would like to get a computer but think you'll never be able to learn how to run it, get one of these. This thing is GREAT!! It's so easy to operate, and it's very fast. Another great feature is you don't need to pay $50 a year for virus protection. It's built in to the operating system of Chromebooks! We just love this thing! We are going to get the desktop fixed, but I won't give up my Samsung Chromebook. I also bought a Logitech wireless mouse to use on it. Works great! I would recommend this Chromebook to everyone! Best part was, it was only $199.......

My wife and each bought one of these about a week ago. Her school is getting about 20 Chromebooks per class room and since they are a small private school with little money I offered to set them all up. These are some type of grant or awarded money and the teachers are not given one because of the requirements. I wanted to get a taste of Chromebooks and what the had to offer since I will be setting up the whole classroom features. After a week I am both impressed and disappointed. I must confess that this is my first Chromebook so I can't say they all behave the way the Samsung Chromebook 3 does. We purchased this model because we didn't need anything expensive. Pros: Price $180 Build Quality is quite good for such an inexpensive computer. I enjoy typing on it. For me the keyboard is pretty good. Not as good as my MacBook Pro or my work Dell but good. Easy Setup Screen, again for the price I wasn't expecting a 4k or 1080p HD. Yes there is external storage. The unit has a Micro SD slot on the left. 2 USB ports HDMI and headphone jack 4GB of RAM. You should not get the 2GB version. Spend the extra $10. It's worth it from a performance standpoint. Cons: It can bog down on some websites. Android Centrals home page is a good example. Don't expect a i5 performance. It is an Celeron processor after all. Trackpad. It's not great. Feels almost mushy and a very loud click when you press it. I'm sure this will get quieter with time. It is nice and big though. Android Apps are coming for this model but I don't believe Google/Samsung has turned on this feature for this model yet. Googles own website says coming soon for this and other models. Overall none of the cons would make me return it. Remember that you are paying under $200 for this, so if you have realistic expectations you will like it.

I bought my son the second generation Samsung Chromebook two years ago and it took the abuse he dished out for two years before he was finally able to destroy it. I bought a third generation Samsung Chromebook for each of my kids during the Black Friday sales and my kids tell me that they are better than the previous one my son had. My kids live in a connected world and the Chromebook are lightweight and the batteries last for days. Apparently the Chromebooks shut down when you close them or don’t use them for a while. The kids have never complained about battery life. They are perfect for my kids. They are inexpensive and durable. I bought each of them a MaxCase shell as I did for my sons first Chromebook. I think the extra protection made all the difference in keeping the Chromebook going for two years. They are in the 5th and 8th grades, and when they get to high school it may be time to get them a real laptop, but until then the Chromebooks are working perfectly. Both of their schools use Chromebooks and they have never complained about losing a file, since Chrome OS auto-saves everything you do. Chrome OS and the software programs that it uses don’t have the features of Office Suite, but my kids are able to work on projects with their study partners simultaneously while they communicate on their cell phones through the social media that they choose. It is kind of a cool system, and the kids work it seamlessly. I recommend them to any parent who wants to get their kids a laptop, but doesn’t want to drop $500 for a middle schooler’s laptop.

I was looking for a small, tough chrome book. This little book is great. The keys fit my fat fingers, I weigh around 300.. It holds a good charge, is fast, and has been reliable. I LOVE IT!!

Given that school uses Google Apps for everything, this was the perfect laptop. It is small, light, great battery life, and good enough performance to get everything done that's needed for school. Obviously it's not going to compare to a higher-end laptop, but for Google Apps, browsing, email, etc - perfect.

Deeply into electronics, did not think Chromebook was anything I needed to add to my collection. The product used as an internet browser machine is good. It is much faster the Internet Explorer/Edge, Safari, Chrome on Windows. Would not recommend if you are a document person that likes saving to your local drive.

I needed something that was lightweight, inexpensive, could complete work on, plus browse the internet, listen to music, watch netflix, etc. After reading reviews, I decided to go with this exact model. I took my chromebook on my flight to Austin, used it for the whole week, and never had any issues being unable to work. Granted, I build websites and everything can be done via chrome, I use google play music already, and pretty much everything that I would need to do on the go can be done on something that costs less than a decent tablet. I highly recommend, may not be for everyone, but if you understand the limitations already of buying a chromebook over a regular laptop, then you'll be fine.

I normally use my tablet for Internet browsing, happy the salesman refered me to Chrombook rather than a small laptop PC. (I don't need MS Office) This notebook is perfect in size, has a beautiful clear screen , is only 2lbs, so it's perfect to travel. I have other Samsung products so all the apps are compatible. And the best part i's the price was less than I anticipated to spend. Really recommend for anyone who uses the Internet for basic everyday use and doesn't want to use their bulky laptop. Battery stays charged over 10 hrs!

My 12 year olds use these lots for school assignments on their school Google accounts and going to different websites to get school assignments. YouTube works well as does surfing the web. These are not for games. They can play some very basic games only. Speed seems pretty good. I was debating getting them these or laptops. Ultimately my decision was made based on the price. These being about half the price of a good laptops. These don't have much hard drive space or Office products. But, that's not needed for them as they just use their Google accounts.

Bought this chromebook for my daughter because she will be using one this year for school and I wanted to make her work go smoothly at home. This is a great device, simple and easy to use for anyone familiar with google's OS. Would recommend getting the extra 2 gb of RAM, having tested the lower version. Websites and videos load and stream with little to no lag, and the chromebook stays up to date itself. Being able to monitor my daughters usage, and restricting sites is super easy. Also, this model will be getting the new update which will give access to the Google Play Store for extra apps and games. Must have for a student!
