    3 reasons I would choose something different

    We decided to go with the black stainless finish because it was advertised as smudge resistant and we loved the new color. We also liked having the freezer on the bottom and have always been happy with Samsung appliances (and we have bought quite a few of them over the past few years). The fact that we can use the fourth compartment as a freezer or fridge is a nice feature too. Reasons for only 3 stars: Reason #1 - The handles have shiny silver strips that show every fingerprint and smudge right where you touch it the most. Reason #2 - We purchased counter depth so that it would look more like a built-in and not stick out as far. However, the doors couldn't be opened unless we pulled it out far enough from the sidewall and cabinets on the other side to open the doors as they extend an additional 3.25" on each side when open. So be aware that in order to open the doors you need to add 6.5" to the width when doing the layout for your kitchen or pull the fridge out 7" beyond the cabinets/walls so that you will be able to open the doors without hitting anything. So how can it be considered counter depth? We kept the fridge as my husband had already discarded the box and didn't want to go through the process of trying to return and exchange it. I wish we would have just gotten the standard depth at the much lower price as it would have stuck out just as far and given us the extra storage space inside. We were only going by the overall dimensions for the space when planning our new kitchen remodel & switched to the counter depth model over the phone prior to delivery. Reason #3 - Apparently it is taller than most standard refrigerators (according to the designer at "Cabinets To Go") and our new over the fridge cabinet hit the hinges on the fridge. We had given the exact dimensions including height to "Cabinets To Go" and they still assumed it was what they considered standard height. There was no returning or exchanging the cabinet as we had signed off on the pickup slip. My husband was able to modify the cabinet to fit and you can't tell that he had to cut the cabinet. So, it was just annoying, took more time and expense. So be aware of this if you are trying to get it to fit into an existing space or are ordering new cabinets. FYI ... "Cabinets To Go" had the worst customer service EVER!!! We thought we were saving money on the cabinets and that was a huge mistake. Best Buy has always been great to work with which is why I gave it at least 3 stars, so no complaints there other than it would have been nice to know about the doors taking so much room to open that it can't be flush with the counters.

    So I gave it four...but then I realized there's this 'I would recommend this to a friend' selection and I am selecting 'no' so decided why would I give it four stars but not recommend it?? Before I say much more - I would like to point out that this is a Samsung house. We own two Samsung TVs, dryer (soon a washer, too), microwave, dishwasher, and Stove. So, don't be discouraged by the brand itself when you see this review. It might just be my 'luck' or this particular model. I was initially surprised at how noisy this refrigerator is when it runs. I've never noticed refrigerators make this much noise before when they run but maybe it's just the size and style of refrigerator. I've gotten used to it through and barely notice it anymore - I was just used to really quiet refrigerators in the past. It obviously doesn't run all the time, just through it's cool-off cycles. It does keep my food properly kept though. My last refrigerator would spoil food and destroy herbs and vegetables within a couple of days. If I went grocery shopping I had to plan my meals around my refrigerator and eat all the fresh stuff and herbs first. This Samsung keeps my food fresh for...weeks?? Last night I realized I had a bag of Thyme in there for weeks now and it looks as good as new! Also, the freezer doesn't freezer burn my food like my last one did. With my last refrigerator I had to constantly throw out freezer-burned items. The doors started to squeak and a Geek squad agent came out and put some lubricant on them. The right one started squeaking again the next day!! It's annoying but at least it's only one side now. The other side doesn't stay put when open like the one side does...just another thing that's petty and I overlook. I'm curious about the water filter. I've only had the fridge a few months and I noticed that the fresh water dispenser tray has a white crusty buildup there where water has dried. I'm not sure if I'm drinking water with metal in it...??? I'll probably have to call Geek squad and ask them about this as it might just be an issue with the filter. I just don't think I should need a filter already. I like the size and I can organize my food nicely. It holds a lot.

    This is my first and def last Samsung fridge

    Since we were moving to a new house we had buy a new fridge. I was new to French doors, but got used to it quick. I love moving/ collapsible shelves in this model! It's something my husband was sold on... Anyways, delivery went well. That's what I thought at first. Only two months later to learn our fridge was not leveled at all!!! Which means water was collecting in deli door! Only few rounds of call to Samsung and problem got solved. If I was picked by India support it was a nightmare, and if my local US support it was more efficient. Shortly after delivery I noticed few dents. I was blaming my kids until I read other reviewer mentioned it. Then I realized it's way to high for by kids to cause dents in the area these are. Very weird. Something is not right. I hate to keep the surface of this fridge clean. It's a total nightmare. Even with stainless steel wipes applied it's not clean. The layout is manageable. I kind of hate you cannot get anything from deli draw with one fridge door open. The shelves on right door are nice. You can fit 2 gallons of milk on the bottom one! Freezer part is a little hard to keep organized, but I assume it's the same for all French door fridges. Within first 6 months we had an issues with water collecting in the deli draw because fridge was not leveled by delivery people. Very annoying. And I am not sure what's wrong with this fridge, but we have a problem with smell!!! It stinks a lot! And I have 3 packs of baking zone (for fridge) just in fridge itself! We never had this problem with other fridges and still buy/eat/cook/store the same food. Next time around I will not be looking into Samsung fridges.

    Replaced the Old One

    We picked this out to replace the old Samsung after the freezer died. The Best Buys here in Texas are in the process of remodeling, so they did not have a lot of selection in the store. We liked our old Samsung, so we just picked up the newer version. While the layout in the new one is more spacious, there are a few things missing. It does not have a covered door for butter (this is a minor issue considering the doors hold a lot more than the old one did), and the water filter is moved. It is the water filter that has us most concerned. The new water filter does not take up as much space as the old one, but if it leaks (and it will, whenever you change it unless you shut the water down everytime you change the filter), getting to the where the water is a pain. It leaks right into the crisper drawer, which, admittedly, does make it easier to dump the water. It also messes up anything you may have in the crisper drawer. The other big pet peeve is that you can see the wheels from the front. In all of the pictures on this website (and Samsung's), those are cropped out of the picture. There is no facia to cover the wheels, which makes it look cheap. All in all, it is a good fridge, but caveat emptor: if you have difficulty moving the fridge to get to where the water shut off is, you will spend a great deal of time cleaning up spilled water every time you change the filter.

    The refrigerator is nice looking, it could use a fitted rubber mat or something that can be cleaned aside the plastic painted liner in the door beneath the water/ice dispenser. I have to agree with folks that have called out the loudness of the compressor upon starting, it wouldn't be the best to have against a wall next to a bedroom. The ice maker does take up a lot of space in the refrigerator section. The lighting is wonderful inside and the maneuverability of shelving is very nice. The deli drawer has various settings which makes it nice. The freezer also well lit is roomy and I like the handle that not only pulls out but also up.. nice inclusion. I like it, I don't love it. I would have gone with a another brand if I was not in a hurry to get it ordered. Remember, delivery DOES NOT include set up or hook up. If you have water, gas lines for appliances. I would suggest in the heat of replacing all your appliances to pay for installation which is negligible when you consider the cost of purchasing it as a four pc appliance suite. As the old ones were being taken to the garage or removed.. they will not wait and you're left to hook up lines, position and level your new purchase. The guys were nice, though were on a schedule. I take the blame for not having looked into the difference. I have a house full of Samsung electronics and love them. It might have been too soon to purchase appliances. I went for look, price and Samsung quality. "Lifes Good" seems appealing after two months with Samsung Appliances.

    Problems with ice maker from the beginning

    After 3 months of owning it the ice maker stopped making ice. We pulled the bin out and there was ice frozen in and around the inside of the ice makers. We cleaned that out and called Best Buy for service. The guy came out and ordered a new ice maker. In the meantime the ice maker started making ice again. When the tech came out to install it he decided there was nothing wrong with it and didn't install the new one. The same problem happened again. We cleaned the ice out around the ice maker and it started making ice again. When it happened a third time best buy decided they couldn't work on it and sent out another company to diagnose the problem. AE Factory Service then came out 3 times to try and fix the problem. They eventually ordered a new ice maker. While installing it they broke something in the fridge and it no longer works now. Samsung won't replace it because they say the tech broke it. AE Factory says they MAY replace it but they are fighting with Samsung because it was an existing problem. Luckily we have an old fridge in the garage that we moved all the food to. So here we sit with a fridge that doesn't work while they fight it out. In my opinion there should have never been a problem with the ice maker to begin with.

    Good French Door Refridgerator

    I loved the look of this unit, and have heard great things about the brand. Overall, I think it's a great fridge/freezer, but I still prefer a side by side. Personally, I felt like the I didn't have the same space I had with my previous fridge (left it with the house when we sold it). The door on a side by side gave me enough room to store condiments and 2 liter drinks, and I liked the separation of shelves. I just can't seem to get organized with the French Door version. As far as the freezer goes, I like the wider space, but again, hard to get organized, especially when items are placed right on top of each other. The ice maker and water dispenser is a plus, but often, unless the cup is covering the shaft, some ice and water drips into the floor. The temperature stays nice and even with the twin cooling system, great lighting, and aesthetically pleasing for sure. Bottom line, if you like French doors, this is an excellent choice. But for me, I prefer a side by side, which is why I rated it a 3.

    Ice Maker slow and breaks

    I hate this ice maker but love the frig. I bought it a year ago January and we started having trouble with the ice maker. It is extremely slow to dispense and water would shoot out before ice. Called Samsung, they came out from Lakes Electronics in Margate and reset it and did a few other things. Lasted a month or so, then failed again. Second time, Lakes Electronic came out (same guy) and replaced the ice maker. now, 2 months after that it just stopped making ice and I had water and ice all under the pantry storage bin and a huge mess. Third time calling Samsung and now 5 tickets later, they are refunding/exchanging the refrigerator. I'm waiting on next steps to get a replacement from best buy. I am a little uneasy about getting the same model. I can't tell you how long I waited to get all stainless appliances only to have this ongoing problem with the frig. Very disappointing!

    Read all the reviews in advance of my purchase. Went to the store to see in in person. First, I didn't realize how much smaller it was from my previous French door refrigerator until I tried to put my groceries inside. Second, there are a lot of issues with trying to fit things in the awkwardly shaped spaces in the doors. Third, the water spout is placed too far in front and the tray is useless for catching the water that splashes whenever you use the ice maker or water feature. Fourth you have to hold down the touchscreen to switch back and forth between large ice, small ice and water making it unnecessarily complicated. Fifth but probably most notable is the cheap door handles and the refrigerator doors that never seem to close easily.

    The good, this is a nice new black-stainless steal refrigerator and it is basically what you expect in a refrigerator. The bad, the french doors didn't line up level when the unit was delivered. I could set a level on top of the refrigerator and it was level. You move the level to the doors and it was definitely off balance. On a return visit a Geek Squad tech adjusted the levels on the bottom to line up the doors. So the doors look nice, but now there is a tilt of the refrigerator leaning back towards the wall. We are just going to settle for now, not completely happy. We know the floor is not the problem, you can put a level on the floor and it's fine. We believe the unit is to blame, but like I mentioned, we are tired of fighting about it.

    Overall the fridge is good, and has served me well. However, my only CON on this fridge is the Ice Maker. 1. VERY noisey making ice and drop cubes into tray 2. VERY SLOW dispensing ICE 3. ICE MAKER has stop peridocally 3 times now. You have to do a manual reset for it to start producing ice once again. Other then above it has served its purpose and all else is good on the fridge. Must change water filter every six months and the filters are not cheap. One thing I found out, DO NOT use any other brand of filter that is not SAMSUNG, as they often do not fit properly and LEAK. Using the SAMSUNG brand water filter you will have no problems.

    Overall, I like this refrigerator, but I have a couple problems. One is that it is harder to keep clean than my old stainless refrigerator. The ice/water dispenser does not have a tray to catch drips so it leaves water marks every time someone gets a drink. The shelves in the door are small and awkward because of where the ice dispenser is. And lastly, there are no bins included in the freezer drawer which makes it difficult to keep organized. On the plus side, the refrigerator has smart, adjustable shelving that makes it easy to fit tall things without wasting a lot of space. The drawers are well designed and useful. I would recommend this with reservations.

    We walked in to purchase this fridge as scratch and dent. We took it right home. As they were loading it, the store personnel scraped my truck and tore the back grill off. Once home, the fridge didn't work after assurances at the store that it did. After waiting for an appointment three days later with the geek squad, I was told the front panel had been replaced with the wrong parts from a different fridge. They ordered the new front panel and motherboard as well as the torn back panel. Five days after that, the parts came in and the geek squad came. Back to install them. Finally, ten days after purchase, I had a working fridge and a s ratchet up truck.

    My older fridge went out during the holidays. Not a good time to go out! These days you just can't go pick-up appliances at the stores you have to wait to have them delivered. With luck we could pick-up at BB distribution center (that experience could have been better). Wish I could have had more time to shop around. This is an okay fridge. It makes loud popping noises and the compressor is loud when it turns on. The ice comes out cubed and crushed on the cubed setting. There is not a cover on bottom front so you see the wheels. I purchased this model for a great price, however, if I had to do it again, I would spend the extra to get the higher end model.

    Ok fridge but had several problems

    The fridge is huge, inside and out. We liked the setup but noticed right away that the ice maker took up quite a bit of room. I liked being able to put long items in the pantry drawer, like veg or fruit trays. It worked well for awhile but we had several issues after a couple of years. The fridge would ice up and the fan would no longer work. Because we had the Geek Squad warranty we were able to have it fixed many times and they eventually replaced the fridge. We learned after all that this model had a reputation (earned after we purchased it) for the icing issue.

    Tough pad is not working after being delivered

    So I bought this refrigerator and once they delivered it the touch pad was not working, I felt sorry for the delivery guys Gavin came up some flight of stairs so I told them I can wait for them to send a service guy. The service guy came and spend 10 minutes and told me a wire is broken, I called bestbuy and they recommended me call Samsung since I have warranty. Samsung service guy came and they could not repair it and recommend and exchange or refund. The manager at the store originally don't want to do an exchange due to the price I paid for it. So now I am waiting to see if they will now exchange it when contacted by Samsung.

    The refrigerator looks great but I never wanted stainles steel (husband did) because of the fingerprints and wiping it off a lot. Oh not to mention you have to make sure you go with the grain when wiping because if you go against it you can mess it up and it dents very very easily. Also this model makes a humming noise..the first one was a deep loud noise so I exchanged it. The delivery man said Samsung products do that. He was right my range by Samsung hums too when turned on. Anyway, the replacement refrigerator of course hums as well but not as bad. I can deal with it.

    I bought the Samsung fridge because so many friends and family have a similar model. All of them recommended the Samsung. The fridge fit nicely into the spot provided, has great storage and works well to keep stuff cold. However, it is the loudest fridge I've ever been around. When the compressor kicks on, I can hear it upstairs and everywhere downstairs. It goes through a series of loud wind-up/wind-down sounds, each sounding like it is dying a slow death. Almost every time I open the door this happens.

    We bought this because our last frig broke. I don't usually write reviews but I wanted to say for those who are concerned about noise this frig may not be for you. It sounds like a car is parking in my kitchen every now and then. It's not the ice maker either. We are trying to decide if we want to go through the whole mess of returning it though. Other then that,the layout is nice and it looks great. I wish the drawers for the freezer pulled out so you can see both without pushing the top one back but that's not that big of a deal.

    Nice Refrigerator, bad ice maker

    The fridge is great, seems to work pretty well and there is space for everything; delivery and installation was easy and efficient. But the Ice Maker doesn't work AT ALL and we tried all of the troubles shooting tips. So less than 3 days after having it delivered, we've had to set up a service request to see what is wrong. Seems unfortunate but we will wait to see if they fix/replace it!
