I purchased a Sony brand and an LG and the sound was sub par bearly louder than the TV speakers. I then purchased a Samsung HW KM45 sound bar[2016 model] and it sounded great, only problem is it was an older model and didn't work with the rear speakers I bought from Best Buy [SWA-8500S]. And the speakers that work with that model are no longer available. SO. I was in a delema of keeping that sound bar and returning the rear speakers. I really wanted that full surround sound so I decided to purchase a sound bar that would pair with those speakers. After looking at the M450 2.1 sound bar I decided to spend a little more for this 3.1 version to get a 5.1 surround. That extra center speaker is good but not for a $80 increase in price from the 2.1 version. I do like this sound bar and the speakers are crisp and clear when watching tv and sounds good when playing PS4. The sub is decent but doesn't hit as hard as I would like but you can tell its there when watching TV and playing games. Its much clearer than the standard TV speakers. I have a pretty large living room with a 70" Sharp Aquas. My only down fall to this system would be that the subwoofer should be pushing more bass for a 340w system even turned all the way up. It was easy to install and paired to the sub instantly when powered on. It also paired with the rear speakers with no problems as well as my Echo dot and smart phone for streaming music. I would recommend this item or the 2.1 320w system but if you want that center speaker to give you a clearer voice output and 5.1 surround with the rear speakers during movies this is a good system.

There is no base and the subwoofer lacks a punch. The whole point of having a speaker is to have a surrond sound experience when watching a movie and out of 10 I would give this speaker 3-4 max.

Posted .Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-M550 Sound bar and the Wireless Rear Loud Speakers. I am sorry to hear that you did not experience the full potential of the surround sound system.
Please know that by design, the surround speakers are supposed to simulate sounds happening behind the viewer. Therefore, most of the time the surround channels are only used for ambient sounds, which are naturally lower in volume.
However, there are a few settings you can change to adjust the surround effect to your preference:
1. Make sure that the source (e.g. TV output) is sending surround channels to the Soundbar. If the source is not surround, then set the Surround mode to OFF on the Soundbar by pressing the Surround button on the remote.
2. If the source has surround channels, select the desired Sound Mode from the Soundbar remote. Choices are STANDARD, MUSIC, CLEAR VOICE, SPORTS, or MOVIE.
3. Turn off Dynamic Range Control. This is done by pressing and holing the Sound Mode button while the Soundbar is in standby mode.
4. Increase the volume level of the surround speakers using the Sound Control button on the Soundbar remote control.

Good but sub is below par

The sub however lacks the boom that im looking for, as many others have stated. My older, smaller 2.1 model is more powerful than this one. Not sure why. Planning to return this.

Please know that the HW-M550 has a dedicated Subwoofer level control on your remote.
The button is labeled “WOOFER”, and is located to the right of the Volume button.
Push the button up or down to adjust the volume of the subwoofer to -12, or -6 to +6.
Pressing the button will revert the subwoofer volume to level 0.
