A wonderful cooktop to compliment GE Slate

After reading the negative reviews of the GE profile gas cooktop. I needed to find a cooktop that could compliment my recent purchase of the GE profile slate appliances. I ordered both the GE profile cooktop and also this new Samsung gas cooktop. After they both arrived at my home I compared the look, style and functions of both cooktop (boxed only). The build quality, appearance and what everyone has mentioned in past reviews the distance from top of grate to top of burner. It has been mentioned in a lot of past reviews of the GE profile and cafe models that its distance from flame to pan is unacceptable causing loss of heating capability. This distance was checked on both units and the GE is about .75-1.0 inches taller than the Samsung model. Another observation was the knob design of both units. The Samsung knobs and also cooking grates are far superior to the GE model strong and robust. I would have loved to keep the GE model to compliment my complete suite of GE slate profile appliances but I decided to instal the Samsung. I need to mention that it has performed very very well. Easy to clean, heats water fast, temperature control is great, and look and styling fits perfectly with my GE slate appliances. Im so happy with the cooktop that its my favorite item I purchased for my new kitchen. Nothing negative to say about it at all. If you are planning on buying GE profile slate appliances and want a cooktop that works beautifully with them buy the Samsung. You will not be disappointed. Note: When installing the cooktop make sure you have enough space between the backsplash or down draft to accommodate the WiFi adapter. It requires a distance of about 40mm from rear edge of cooktop to backsplash. If you do not have enough space don't worry you can easily remove it to accommodate a tighter space. I have the WiFi function working but honestly I will never use it.

I live in an area where I needed to convert to LP so I am not sure if tat is pert of the problem I am having with the flame. I did have the plumber come to adjust it but there is basically no true simmer option on any of the burners. I still need to put some kind of buffer/interference between the pan and the flame. I am going to need to purchase more than one of those in order for me to be able to simmer my chicken stock as long used to. The grates are extremely heavy (they cover two burners at a time). It makes them very difficult to lift when I want to clean under them - feel like I need to hire a weightlifter when I want to clean the stove. Then there the space issue - I am not able to fit a 12" cast iron skillet and an 8" cast iron skillet one in front of the other on this cooktop. I cannot even use the 12" skillet and a tea kettle one in front of the other. See photos of a 12" skillet and 8" skillet and 8" skillet and tea kettle - they are almost off the grate/burner. A lot of negatives for something so positively expensive. Luckily I am cooking for one or two people most of the time. Part of it is I bought it sight unseen and none of the reviews mentioned these issues when I was inquiring about it. I would love to return it if it was easily doable.

Front Panel is cheap Aluminum. Not Steel

After a year the knob panel started to fade and look horrible like Some kind of surface corrosion. BestBuy 5yr warranty by Geek Squad does not cover “cosmetic” damage! I ended up having the (out of warranty) discolored panel replaced by Samsung at a cost of $400. Lesson learned: Samsung is only good at making TV’s. Never buy Samsung appliances. And The 5 yr Geek Squad Protection Plan does not cover visible corrosion caused by poor Samsung workmanship.

This item replaced am 8 year old KitchenAid glass top electric cooktop and the difference is night and day. The Samsung cooks great, heats the pots quickly and evenly, and is easy to clean. Glad I'm back to cooking with gas.

Told we were the first ones to order this model from that particular Best Buy. Read quite a few reviews of other cooktops and the complaints about them taking too long to boil water, so bought this hoping that Samsung would deliver. They haven't disappointed. Boils a couple quarts of water in about 10 minutes on the main burner while being flexible enough to not burn beans using low on the same burner. the other 4 burners have nice range of heat output as well. Like that the burners for the griddle are the same size and the controls being lit when on has proven a nice feature. Have not used the WiFi.

It's gorgeous!! Goes great with the rest of the black SS package I bought. Sleek design, the ingenuity is amazing!! Wifi on your range, the blue light is beautiful, and it heats food adequately on low and medium cause it's so powerful.

Great looking, 5 burner cooktop with ample room. Pictures are not correct - it is regular stainless steel finish. There's a 2 inch long notch on the back which may be problematic. We didn't measure our space properly but fortunately it was able to fit. Wifi connectivity is a joke - all you can do is to see if a burner is on or off!

Nice looking sturdy Stainless steel cooktop

Elegant and sturdy looking. Unlike pictures where it shows darker stainless steel, it is normal stainless steel. Well made and is working good - we've using it for 3 weeks now. The wifi connectivity is not much of use - you can't turn it off - you can see the current status! I'd say that it is a bit pricey for the functions.

    Unmaintainable

The cook-top has good quality burners, which heat evenly and has accurate and smooth heat controls. Unfortunately, these good burners are enclosed in the low quality, poorly designed case. The front panel etched and discolored after the first cleaning with a standard cook-top cleaner and one of the poorly attached rubber plugs/feet supporting the grid fell off and got lost within first couple of months. Samsung customer support was not helpful at all and after a month and a half of calls & emailing pictures, I have very low confidence in the company ever honoring its warranty obligations. Their support/warranty process would be an inspiration to Franz Kafka. I personally will stay away from Samsung products from now on, fortunately - there are plenty of alternatives. The cook-top may perform well in some "lab" cooking tests but in a normal household it will be as practical as dry clean only underwear.

We are quite pleased with out cook top. Samsung has always been one of our first choices since we purchased one of their flex zone refrigerators and this cook top didn't disappoint. It looks great, performs without issue and we receive many compliments on its looks. We have no regrets with the purchase.

Easy to install, looks beautiful, and puts out plenty of heat. Seems to have good range and control on each burner as well - the low setting is truly simmer and the high setting is good and hot. Also like the range of options provided by the 5 burners. Very happy with this purchase so far.

It is very hard to find a connected gas cooktop, but Samsung has one. I love the ability to monitor and control my cooktop wirelessly, but it also has great cooktop features like a grill and a special fixture for stir-fry.
