Great SMART TV

A year ago, I purchased a 6500 series Samsung 65" SMART TV. This Spring, I bought a Samsung 8500 series Tv to replace my old Sony 60" rear projection TV from 2005.
This new "Quantum dot" display is superior to last years 6500 series display with deeper color and no "side fade" which is a "milkiness" sensation as you move off-center from the display. This Tv also has a 240/second refresh rate which should translate into smoother motion-flow such as football or racing events.
SMARTfunction setup was straight-forward menu driven and took about 15 minutes.
Mine sets on a furniture piece and the two supplied legs just push into the bottom of the unit and you're ready to go.
One new wrinkle was the new "Smart Hub" wherein all peripheral devices plug their HDMI cords into a dedicated box about 9" X 3" X 1", which is easily hidden. From this box one dedicated cable runs to the back of the TV. The power cord is direct from a wall outlet to the back of the TV, so you have only two cords going to the back of the unit.
The supplied remote control is a small "minimalist" unit with only two "buttons" that perform multiple functions. There is no back-lighting; you have to play with the remote to unlock it's many hidden functions of various controls, or, download/read the actual multipage owners manual fro the Samsung website.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this TV and it's crisp picture. Supplied sound is better than many flat panels I've run across.

I bought this for the new house in the great room. i wanted a thin, light colored bezel. this 8000 series TV fit the bill and has UHD, 3D, high contrast and smart tv features. so, overall, it is definitely the product i was after. i have many other Samsung products and this one of the best so far. if you run regular TimeWarner cable to it via HDMI and it upscales the content to 4k quality, including HBO on demand, Showtime and Cinemax.
The smart tv features provide for all of the standard NetFlix, Amazon, Hulu video sources and music, games, exercise apps, etc. that you could want. All of the content may also be upscaled to 4k. Movie downloads play over the TWC wi-fi without any buffering. Its also easy to integrate with other network-enabled devices for DLNA playback from a computer or phone, NAS or cloud enabled storage.
The only thing i really didnt like is the separate box for the incoming HDMI cables to connect and then the box (One connect, i think) has a proprietary cable that connects to the back of the tv. The ends of this cable are bigger than a regular hdmi and hard to fish in the wall (for an over the fireplace install). Some might find i difficult to use. Also, the single USB input and network input are still on the back of the TV. so, the One Connect isnt really an improvement for connecting devices. I like the prior input configuration better.
Overall, a good TV and has lots of features and great picture quality. so, i like the TV and use it every day.

This birthday/Christmas present is the best yet! The images are nearly lifelike on normal Satellite channels, and the resolution of the 4K programming is AWESOME. I thoroughly researched it for a long time and am so glad I came up this one, and the value for the price is great! We have purchased several Samsung TVs in the last 8 years, and are very happy with all of them, and especially with this one.

What can I say, the tv is simply the sharpest, clearest, saturated picture out of all the tv’s. You won’t need a fire stick or roku with this bad boy. You can download apps directly from the tv. It comes with a hdmi hub that you can plug all your device into. Meaning there is only one main cord coming from your tv to the hub. Clears all the clutter.

We read several reviews of this TV and found that all the best ones were accurate to quality. Very clear picture, lots of adjustable options to fit your individual viewing tastes. Good sound. Love the connection box that's attached so you don't have difficulty connecting devices on a tight wall mounting. Can connect to remote Bluetooth speaker. Another quality Samsung product. I recommend this one.

I looked at many 65" TVs before getting this one. I actually first bought the comparable Sony and took it back to get this Samsung. The blacks are very black and the picture is very clear and bright. In addition, the TV is nearly frameless and very thin. I have it mounted on a wall and it looks great.
The only glitchy thing is the proprietary "One Connect" system. Samsung provides a separate box that houses the HDMI and other connections, which connects to the TV with one cable. If your TV is on a stand, or flat above a cabinet, this system is great. It allows for only one cable to be dealt with, rather than three or four. However, if your TV is mounted on the wall in a corner like I have, this box is hard to deal with. The one cable is 12' in length, which is generally not long enough to drop through the wall and then go horizontally to the satellite box, etc. Samsung does not make an extension cable. The result is that you end up sticking the box to the wall behind the TV. Not really a big deal, but an issue to be dealt with. Certainly not a deal breaker given the great picture quality.

I did a lot of research before making a decision to buy. I'd like to have waited for Samsung to come out with a OLED but I wanted something now.
I'm glad I purchased this 65" Samsung Flat screen TV.
Excellent picture.
In some cases, it feels like I'm in the room they are taping in. Has depth to almost give you a 3D feel.
I've told everyone I know how well I like this television.
Great job, Samsung!

Great TV For The Money

I could not be happier with this TV. This particular model is even better (specification wise) than this years offering. With the Quantum Dot display technology, which isn't offered in this years model, colors really pop!
Compared to other TVs in this price range, you really can't go wrong. Also, if you're one who plays video games, the response time is great on this TV, as opposed to comparable sets. 4k content looks absolutely incredible! Standard Definition, or regular cable broadcast content, looks pretty good on this TV too. It does a pretty good job at upscaling any content you play on it.
The operating system on the TV is pretty good. I don't think you can download other apps, but I don't see why you would even need to as every major streaming option is included by default. The OS is nice and responsive, hardly any hangups or anything.
If you find this TV in the store, buy it! You won't be disappointed!
Also, don't be afraid of open-box items. Mine didn't have a single scratch on it, and still had all the plastic on it too. You'll get an even better deal!

i have been looking for a 65" tv for a year or two. This tv came with no defects that i have been reading about. i almost got one model below the 8K series in the 6K, i'm glad i didn't- because the last 46" Samsung with the red border i bought 5-6 years ago still has an excellent picture- and will be used elsewhere in the house
i already had the wal mount in place -so the installation for this model was superrrrrrr easy - the tv is so light i barley needed any help lifting it to the mount-
as for the HD receiver - at first i was a little hesitant on its capabilities from reviews last year, but they must not know what they are talking about.. ( the only confusing part is getting the adapters ((for example my desktop computer gets hooked up by vga- it doesnt have HDMI outputs- so the adapter needs to be VGA to HDMI)) which goes for the rest of the things you get to) there are HD to VGA adapters, but they won't work) you understand what I'm saying?
Next thing is an audio connection RCA to HDMI for my stereo Tower speakers that I built into the wall and cabinets so you can't even see them, none of the cheaper audio systems have the great sound like these-but no one wants the big speakers standing out to see....
well the programming on the system seems to be well updated andf easy to use for xbox or satellite and everything.. hope you guys like the tv like i like mine
ps even eith a big screen like that- i felt i could go bigger :-) but maybe next time!!

Picture on this TV is amazing. It is also really thin. Speakers are the norm for flat screens these days but I also got a sound bar to go with it. I like the remote which has voice control. I can easily switch from cable to youtube and other apps with my voice instead of having to click a bunch of buttons on the remote. Only had the tv for a short while but so far so good I am impressed with it.

Set up was fast and easy along with wall mount and hooking up all components. I am no techie so this was a big deal. The picture is absolutely unbelievable and life like and seems you are part of the picture. I swear that it almost appears 3D. Older movies gain new life. This unit is definitely worth every dime paid.

I've been looking into upgrading my samsung 55" for quite some time, but wasn't sure if the 4K route would be worth it considering cable/satellite, would be the majority of what we would be watching, and the fact being that currently, cable and satellite providers do not provide a 4K signal. It must say, I am very glad I purchased this model! The upscaling is great! The picture is amazingly crisp.

Bought this TV as a gift for my daughter since I own the same one as a replacement for my 50" Panasonic Plasma. The Samsung video quality is superb and the 4K and HDR capability make this a winner. The 8000 series is no longer sold and bought this as an open box at a great discount. Couldn't pass up that offer..

I wanted to love this TV... hits that sweet spot of best bank for the buck except the light bleed along the bottom of the screen was just too much. I tired 2 sets and gave up - did not want to play the panel lottery.
Pros: Awesome colors, vibrant bright LEDs really make colors pop. Very respectful blacks for an edge lit TV. Design looks great and the Tinzen OS works well
Cons: Great blacks for edge lit, but still not as good compared to OLED or backlit LED screens. Biggest issue was light bleed along the bottom. Every in-store display (checked 5) had no issues whatsoever. Was I unlikely to get 2 in a row? Perhaps, but at this price you should know what you get.
Get that light bleed under control and this set is a 5 star
