Picture great. Streaming apps not so much.

The picture is amazing. I do not miss my old plasma tv at all. The picture is crisp. The colors are vibrant. That said.....the Samsung Smart TV available apps are a joke. The biggies are all there, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc, but we're coming from a Roku setup that ran and danced circles around what's currently offered by Samsung. A few of the apps aren't stable at all either. A streaming app will freeze and crash quite often. (not an issue with Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Hulu) We're actually considering getting an updated Roku stick to battle the app issues. After all that I WOULD highly recommend this TV. With a decent soundbar...I think I'm sitting in an IMAX theatre when watching content that tests the TV specs.

I have been using my new Samsung Q80R UHD 65" TV for a few days now. It replaced a Samsung HD from 2012 - big difference! The picture quality is great - the blacks are very black. Very easy setup - remote is easy to use as well. I recommend turning off Auto Motion Plus to get rid of the 'soap opera effect'.

Purchased 11/2019. The first 65" Q80r was delivered and the workers mounted it on the wall --- once turned on it had "discoloration spots on the left corner top edge and down right side." I was very disappointed. The second exchanged 65" Q80r TV is working perfectly. The colors really are vivid and clarity undeniable. The blacks truely are really black. The setup was very easy and we didn't have to play with the colors --- to show well on the screen as soon as we turned it on they were great. Consider this TV but just understand you may need to exchange for perfection. Maryland

My 55” tv died. It was going to cost to much to repair it. While looking at a replacement I talked myself into a 65” Samsung with a much better picture than the old tv. I added a Samsung sound bar. What a viewing experience. One of the first shows I watched was 9-1-1. An 18 wheeler lost control in a tunnel. I could hear the breaks and metal hitting metal. Watching on such a large screen with more clarity and brighter colors than I have ever seen before I felt like I was in the truck when the accident happened. It’s been a lot of fun watching and listening to my new Samsung TV.

Set up was very easy. Coming from an older 1080 LED Samsung TV the picture quality is amazing. The colors are vivid with great contrast. Picture quality from our DirecTv is better. Playing 4k movies is incredible with the picture quality. Viewing angles are excellent. Sound is good for a TV. The smart functions are great and we like the ability to stream shows from Amazon, Hulu, and Netflix. Ambient mode is nice to have some background in the living room without the having a show on. Overall an excellent TV. Very happy with purchase.

I reviewed several website and did my research on the TV I wanted to purchase. I was replacing a 42" Plasma and decided we were going to purchase a 55" LG LCD. After looking at all of the options we decided to step up and purchase the 65" Samsung Q80 and I must say I'm very impressed and happy with the purchase. The Q80 delivers a crystal clear super bright picture. It looks great in a dark room for movies and HDR and in bright rooms for sports and other shows. The Q80 is an excellent 4K, QLED TV...

This is a tremendously good TV. Absolutely love it. Before purchasing, I researched every comparable model - and for a couple of key reasons, I came home with this. Much better for brightly lit rooms, excellent compromise for viewing angle and black contrast...and it did NOT include the '1 Box' design, which is highly problematic for my stealthy installation. Hard to see the difference between this model and the Q90 and it was much less money. Highly recommend.

Recently upgraded to this unit and found it to be much clearer picture even on old broadcast tv from the 1960's . the tv actually improves the picture quality on old content . the build in wireless viewing options are great also. I am still learning my way through the capability of the system and the kids have not done any gaming on it yet but they are expecting good things there. Only one remote which i found odd. The TV did pair well with my existing sound bar. Geek Squad make the hook up super easy !!

We looked at the Q70, Q80 and Q90 and had to think a long time if the 80 was worth the price delta. In the end the room we were placing it in was bright and went with the 80 for the glare reduction. After the move and setting it up we were very happy we did- performs really well in well lit rooms and the picture quality is amazing. If you have a darker room it might not be the best value for you but can say the screen makes a huge difference in removing glare.

When my old 50" Samsung plasma TV died I did a lot of research on televisions from about every 'Net reviewer on the planet. I set a budget and features for a replacement. Since many TVs were on sale at Best Buy I had a lot of great choices. I narrowed my choice down to 3 manufacturers - Samsung, Sony, and VIZIO. After reading about OLEDs having burn-in issues I settled on a QLED with UHD. A trip to Best Buy with list of three TVs in hand I looked at them in person. Within a few moments my choice was obvious - the Samsung Q80R had the best picture of the bunch hands down (the sales person also agreed with my choice). While the 80 series isn't as nice as the 90 series, it is the best for the price. At first I thought about purchasing the 55", but when I saw the difference in price it only made sense to go with the 65" model. The picture is the best I've seen and the bigger size really makes viewing movies an experience. The only down side - which most reviewers will mention - is the sound. The built-in speakers are okay but not exciting - so I picked up a Yamaha sound bar. Before you ask, Alexa is not an option, but if you're like me I don't watch a gazillion channels so that option is useless. Bottom line - the Samsung Q80R is the best television you can buy for under $2K and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting a great TV.

The TV is great, bought it with the new Dolby sound bar and bass booster. However, setting up the TV and sound system was complicated. Trouble shooting and setting up the sound system was not covered by the expensive geek squad protection that I paid for. I was almost charged $150 for Geek squad to stop by to trouble shoot the connect to result in being told that an optical cable was the only/best way to make the connection work -- not the HDMI wire that the sales representative had sold me. From this experience I learned that Dolby can only be used by movies and games designed with Dolby -- which is basically non-existent right now... Anyways, I spent several hours searching the internet to resolve the issue by changing my TV settings and using the HDMI wire -- thankfully it worked -- but without the dolby sound effect. Geek-squads lacks the ability to resolve issues and connections between multiple devices..

Go to Consum** Repo** and get the recommended settings for this almost-top-of-the-line beautiful set; basically they turn off all the features that make it garishly stand out in a showroom and match it to their calibrated reference models. I turned the brightness up some from that as during the day it's in a really bright room (as per their recommendations). The UHD/HDR is a fairly subtle improvement over straight HD, which looks gorgous.

Traded up to this from the Q60. Great move. Way better clarity and color. And NO reflections!!! Awesome!!! If you’re debating between the Q60 or the Q70 and the Q80, stop thinking. The Q80 is light years (pun intended) better. Don’t tell me you can’t afford the difference. This will give you several years of vastly superior entertainment. Just skip the restaurants for a week or two and you will easily pay the difference that you won’t regret.

The reason we picked the Samsung 65" Q80 was for glare reduction and it does significantly reduces background glare. The picture is amazing. Brilliant colors and depth. The speakers actually produce good sound. We looked at all the competitors televisions and are VERY happy with the Samsung QLED. However the expensive matching Samsung Q90 Soundbar had/has issues and was returned. Delivery of the TV was excellent.

This is the best television I have ever owned. Great picture, great sound ( I don’t ever use the sound bar I purchased) and I love the smart apps and home screen. It has some goofy features that no one needs and the remote is tiny and weird but it’s a great tv. My mother-in-law and once said “your tv is so awesome, I don’t want to leave”. That was the only time I wanted to get rid of it.

I spent hours researching tvs before finally deciding on picking up the Q80R, and I was not disappointed with the result. The blooming is minimal, the black levels look great, and the 4k content looks incredible. In terms of non-OLED tvs, I don't think you could get much better than this one. If you are thinking about purchasing this just do it, you won't be disappointed either.

Easy set-up out of the box. Amazing how light these TVs are but require a two-person lift to avoid damage. Powered up quick, set up and connected to the service provider. Clear, bright, crisp picture. Easy connection to other Samsung devices I.e. Blue Ray DVD player. Computer and streaming apps pre-installed Samsung TV, Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Apple TV, Goggle Play. etc.
