TV will occasionally freeze. Not easy to switch between inputs (no input button on remote!). The user interface is not friendly. There’s ads you can’t remove. I would not recommend this TV.

love this tv! picture is great, menu is easy to use, and initial setup is very straightforward. The colors really pop on the picture, and the blacks are very strong. The sound is also much better than a lot of the Samsung TVs. we've had this TV for 3 years now, with no issues whatsoever.

Honestly I was not expecting for this new model to have a GUI so bad/slow/lagging, My last TV (RU8000) was way much better and easy to use when it becomes to change inputs or streaming services. I hope Samsung can release a new update to resolve this issue as I saw other reviewers sharing the same frustration I've been experiencing.

      Alvin,

We appreciate your feedback on the response time, and for optimal performance, we ask that you please ensure you've got the latest firmware version installed on your Q80B TV. You can check this by going to: Home > Menu > Settings > Support > Software Update.

You may also want to further optimize performance with the self-diagnostic tool, which checks memory, frees up unused cached memory, and closes background apps. Go to: Home > Menu > Settings > Support > Device Care > Start Device Care

I hope these tips help you enjoy your new product.

This is the top of the line for non Quantum Dot TVs and it is great. My Xbox Series S is perfectly compatible as this is a native 120hz panel and 4k resolution. The upscaling is good and the picture quality is very good despite blooming with subtitles. Skip Q60 and Q70. Handles my bright living room well. Not as well as the QN90A/B/C but great for the price.

Terrific Picture, Tortured Tizen Operating System

We have five Samsung Q80 TVs of various sizes. The Q80 is the sweet spot in the Samsung lineup-the lowest in the model line to have full array local dimming, with a picture and features which rival their best and most expensive models Samsung sells, but at a much lower price. The picture is terrific and the price is a great bang for the buck value. The TV sound by itself is surpringly good if you don’t hook it up to a home theater system or a sound bar. The deducted review star is for the tortured Tizen operating system and Samsung’s risky invasion of personal information. When you turn it on, the TV opens onto a multi choice source screen instead of going right to cable or your last source, so you have to double click to get to your source and settle in. Also, if you choose to accept defaults, Samsung collects large amounts of personal information, which can include listening to the sound and watching video from your room. They make it ridiculously hard to turn this invasive collecting off. Look for articles with titles like “How to prevent your Samsung TV from collecting personal information" from sites like Consumer Reports or even You Tube. This is a great TV if you’re careful about tricky Samsung. Best Buy delivery and setup service was completely outstanding. All our Q80 models have been perfectly reliable-not a glitch anywhere.

This TV has been fantastic for us so far. The sound is phenomenal, and really has blown us away. We were thinking about pairing a sound bar with our previous TV and then this, but there is no need. The bass is strong and the overall sound quality is impressive in its range and tones. The anti-glare surface does a good job as well. The room the TV is in has plenty of windows, and the TV is still visible at almost all angles. There are times it is better than others, but overall I have been impressed. The darker scenes where it is typically hard to see what is going on are actually more visible now. The contrast is strong and shows a true range of color and shades. We do have a small issue with the remote, where the volume toggle seems to get stuck and will either increase or decrease the volume without control. We have tried charging the remote, to no avail so far. I would highly recommend this TV to anyone!

Originally bought a Sony with Google OS but did not like it. It was Okay, but very tied into Google Home (we have both Google and Alexa) and was a bit painful to get setup. This one was much simpler to setup (and played very nice with Alexa). We previously had a 3 year old LG but found watching some shows like House of Dragons and Willow were so dark, we couldn't see things. Watching the same scenes with this one, we could even make out details like tattoos. The apps all work well with the remote although some are missing features we previously used (or haven't figured out how). The sound is good enough we the TV most of the time, but it also works well with out sound bar. The Samsung plus and other built in features were a surprise I hadn't expected. It did not come with screws for mounting to our existing wall mount so we had to go to a local hardware store to get some.

Navigation and remote are sub par, TV visuals tops

Overall the TV is visually amazing. Navigation between apps and sources is quite different from other UHD LCD models and not always in a good way. The "smart" remote while innovative with the plug in charge option or solar charge, it glitches a lot. Try to move one space over and it jumps 10 spaces. Want to turn down the volume a couple notches and it'll keep lowering to zero or worse, all the way to max if u don't hurry and stop it. Could be the remote or how it communicates to the TV. Not sure. Despite that, gaming is top notch on this TV with 120 hz and VRR available. For the price it's a good buy. Also, one thing worth noting, other reviews I watched suggested that with the TV adjusting to room lighting, such as ceiling fan lights etc, it doesn't do as well to lessen the glare as suggested by so many. It's still more noticeable on the TV than I'd like but still a step up from my UHD samsung tv.

Great picture quality. The OS is very slow and clunky. I'm not a huge fan of the layout to get to things from the remote. If you have Fire Stick or Apple TV to pair it's best. I wanted to just use the OS on this TV but the apps crash half the time.
