Frustrating new hard drive

Was told I needed new hard drive. Had the Geek Squad install it but I am finding out that some of the things I had on my old one are not on the new one. Very frustrating.

While the drive itself works great, purchasing it as a replacement operating system drive needs to be done with caution. Hoop jumping and third party software necessary to accomplish. I ended up replacing a secondary drive with this one.

Expensive but convenient

If you have time to wait, I would order from amazon other wise get it from the store

I purchased 4 of these to replace 4 850 EVO drives that failed after 5 years of use in a NAS. In less than 3 months, 2 of the 4 have already failed. The 1st one failed a few weeks ago and Samsung sent me a replacement. Inserted the new drive and while the RAID was being rebuilt, a 2nd drive became critical. I now have to have that one replaced as well. I assumed that I could trust these drives after having no problems with the 850 EVOs. Clearly, these aren't reliable to have 2 out of 4 fail in less than 3 months. Will switch to WD RED SSDs in the future.

Drive Failed and Lost Data

Drive failed after first use. Sent to one of the top professional data recovery companies and they were not able to retrieve the data due to Samsung's heavy encryption. 15 years of important data files and family photos GONE forever, as well as $100 for the price of the SSD. Waste of money and a devastating loss. Would NOT recommend unless you can afford the risk of losing your data.

I have had 2 of these go out on me within a couple of years, take that as you will.
