The Samsung 990 EVO Plus 1 TB is a solid choice for those needing fast, efficient, and dependable storage—whether for gaming, content creation, or daily computing. While it may not beat flagship SSDs in every metric, it consistently delivers real-world speed and low temperatures. If you prioritize peak performance or heavy sustained workloads, the 990 Pro or other DRAM-equipped PCIe 4.0/5.0 drives might be a better fit.

This SSD is extremely fast. Boot times are quick, and everything from games to apps loads instantly. I’m using it in my main system with 32GB RAM and a high-end setup, and it handles everything without any slowdown. Installation was super easy, and it runs cool as well. Definitely a great upgrade if you want speed and reliability.

This is one of the fastest SSDs out there as of this this era, but you have to read the fine print on the box and Samsung's website to see what it takes to reach 7,250 MB/s on this NVMe. This is a PCIe 4.0 - 5.0 hybrid SSD, which means you need to have the motherboard AND CPU that support the above lanes. I may have purchased this too soon since I only have a PCIe 3.0 board - but no biggie I get 3,200 - 3,600 Mb/s, which is in line with PCIe 3.0 and more than fast enough for whatever the everyday person needs. Also, I use this interchangeably with PC and Mac, so I use an enclosure. It's also handicapped by doing this - especially when going all the way with a 20 Gb/s - 40 Gb/s with USB 3.1/3.2/TB4/TB5 enclosure. You'll get speeds of just under 1000 Mb/s to just above 3000 Mb/s read/write.

In 2026, SSD prices are insane due to AI tech blowing up. The 990 EVO Plus is a good deal, especially for older machines. My HP motherboard only supports Gen3, but you're able to use Gen4 like this item just fine, but know it only runs on Gen3 speeds so the advertised read/write speeds aren't reality. A caveat - One of the factors I considered when buying was the cloning software. Samsung Magician is available and has great reviews, but I wasn't aware of its limitations. Magician will not recognize your Samsung drive as Samsung, if you're cloning using a USB enclosure. The drive has to be in the NVME slot in order for it to be recognized. That led to looking for a different software for a simple clone. After I was finished, Magician works just fine with the new drive. Just something to know when purchasing this drive to clone from a smaller one!

this ssd actually did increase the performance and speed of my gaming pc. HOWEVER i built my pc back in 2019 and at the time M.2 SSDs were for the OS and getting a large HDD was the gaming drive. now that its cheaper i finally upgraded my gaming drive to an M.2 SSD and holy cow, what a improvement! Still a solid SSD overall i am rocking a 970 Evo for my OS drive and a 990 Evo Plus for my games now, you cant go wrong with samsung ssds!

Works great attached to my ugreen nvme enclosure. I've been using it as an external drive for my macmini m4. By doing this setup, it is way cheaper than paying upgrades from apple.

I have set up my system with two of these to dual boot into linux and windows as i please. I must say snappy drive. Works well no complaints and no issues.

1 Tb is currently best value/$ and I’ve bought a half-dozen Samsung EVOs up to this size over the last decade+. Never had a failure and still using a 500 Gb one from 2014 occasionally. I now have WD 1 Tb + this in a 2023 laptop with Fedora on one and Windows 11 on the other. Just get it on sale.

Gen 4 fast speed for this price. Great opportunity if you need reliable storage

The Samsung SSD is a reliable product. I wish it wasn't so difficult buying it from BestBuy. First I searched the caged area and did not find it, Then I asked a sales person who said if it's not in the cage we don't have it. Then I went to my car and ordered it online for 1 hour delivery at the same store. Then went back in and spoke with a manager. It should not be this hard to buy a product from BestBuy

It came early and worked really well. The package could have been a little better. But overall would buy again.
