      Fallout:

      I’m very sorry for the difficulties you’ve experience. To get your Samsung 990 PRO SSD and Asus motherboard to recognize each other, follow these steps:

      Update BIOS: Make sure your motherboard's BIOS is up to date. Manufacturers often release updates to improve compatibility with new hardware.

      Enable NVMe in BIOS: Power on your PC and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing Del or F2 during startup). Navigate to the storage configuration section and ensure that the M.2 slot is set to use NVMe. Save and exit the BIOS.

      Initialize the SSD in Windows: Once in Windows, open Disk Management (you can search for it in the Start menu). You should see the new SSD listed as unallocated space. Right-click on it and choose to initialize the disk. Follow the prompts to create a new partition and format the drive.

    Sometimes it allows me to save files on it. Other times, it won't. Then again, this device is way cheaper than other memory sticks with that much memory. Guess I got what I paid for.

    Seems to do what I need. Still loading it. Frustrated the number of Samsung Magician software updates it requires. Seemingly one per week. Haven't seen any difference with the updates.

    Disappointed in the Samsung SSD

    Owned many Samsung products including many of my consoles using their ssd and had great expectations on this ssd. Bought the 2tb Samsung ssd to install in a Asus gaming laptop that was purchased the same day. The ssd would show up on bios after the install and formatting it. When you restart the computer, the SSD would not show in the file explorer. Only after restarting it consecutively 5-6 times it would finally pop up in the file explorer only for it to disappear in the next boot up of the computer. Never had an issue with Samsung product until I purchased this ssd. Retuned it a couple days later and bought a Crucial 4TB ssd instead and has met expectations that I wished the Samsung would’ve met.

    There may be growing pains with this SSD. My new asus Zephryus M16 refused to recognize it in windows even though it was visible in bios. After multiple reseats it finally recognized once and initialized in windows fine, only to not be visible again after the next reboot. Internet search shows people with various motherboards, computers, and laptops have the same problem. Is it samsung's fault or computer manufacturers? Don't know, but I swapped for a WD Black SN850X and haven't had a single issue

    Less than a year and it bricked. I've had so many Samsung drives over the years with zero issues (some running 7 years+). Maybe a fluke? Performance was amazing when it worked.

    I originally bought this for the value. And was Going to use it to expand the The storage space in my brand new computer. 2 Days after I installed it and loaded it, it failed. I had to return it purchase a different. SSD and start all over. The interesting point is that I was hesitant at first. Because I know of the problems. The sand disk has had with these but I went ahead anyway. I guess you live and you learn. I should have followed my gut in the first place and purchased a different brand.

    i like it, but i wanted the 4 TB version. I finally purchased the 4 TB version. I'm still undecided which to use as a storage and main drive, I wont install yet till i get some feed back! thanks

    Worked for about a week. Randomly it stopped showing up. Would have to restart Laptop several times before it would show up again. Tried every tutorial to try and fix. Samsung driver and magician app would not even install and operate. From my experience and previous with Samsung… they are not very plug and play friendly compared to other brands, i have read that the 980 has way less issues than the 990.

    Bought this to upgrade my internal NVME SSD, and the drive ended up failing within 6 months of purchase / install. This is apparently a known issue with Samsung NVME SSDs too so just be forewarned if you're planning on buying.
