too bulky of a laptop to carry around on daily basis

Overrated, after using it for a while I decided to exchange it for a MacBook Air M4, ironically, even though it is an Apple product it is cheaper.

so far not looking good. screen cracked on it's own not even 6 months in and Samsung isn't standing by it's product. they said ship it, it's covered under waranty. now they say, nope, screen not covered $680 to repair it. might as well get another machine. but not a samsung. if they change their mind, I'll update this review

Wow, where do you start with the Galaxy Book5 Pro? I think everyone will say the screen. I knew it would be a nice looking screen, and I was still surprised to see just how great everything looked on it. It’s not like, “OMG this has never been seen before!” but it’s still one of the top image quality screens out there and it’s worth saying, the eye test says wow. But what about the actual performance and usability of the book5 pro? Does it last all day, does it sound like a jet engine when worked too hard, can you type comfortably on it? There’s a lot to unpack, I’ll try to keep it brief and simple, but just know there is a lot of technical info out there I’ll mostly skip and I’ll try to keep it more real world experience, “who’s this for” level information. CONS So what’s NOT to like about the Galaxy Book5 pro? Not a ton that I’ve noticed yet, but there are some things that got to me. Battery life is great, and will probably be mentioned in the Pros section too, but it’s not as great as they claimed. I want to say something like up to 21 hours is what Samsung says the battery will run, and I do believe that is POSSIBLE but I think you’d have to kill a lot of processes, maybe turn off wifi or BT and only use it to watch video files stored locally at low brightness. But in my real world use, I got more like 12 hours on average. Which is still really good, but I am starting to get annoyed with tech makers telling us battery life numbers that are only achievable in rare situations. There’s also no S pen with this model, that’s the 360 only, but it does have a touch display still. I would have liked seeing S pen support, especially if a Galaxy Ultra series pen would work, but since even the 360 doesn’t have a place to store the S pen, I’m not too upset about it. I’d probably just lose the thing in the bottom of my bag eventually anyway. Another con is the shallow keys. Obviously with such a thin body, (see the pros for more on that) there isn’t a lot of room for keystroke depth. I wouldn’t say typing is annoying, I’m doing it right now and I’m not mashing the delete key too much, but I am correcting typing more than on my PC keyboard. That said, I noticed after a few days of using it, I’m already getting better at typing and I think if it was your main computer, you would quickly become efficient. I’ll take the thin design over key depth. And that’s a trend I noticed, every con tends to be the result of a pro. A lot of give and take, where the pros hopefully outweigh the cons. Another con, the ports. Lots to like about them too, but the negative is the two thunderbolt ports are right next to each other on the same side. I’d like to see one of those on the other side for easier cable management. And the SD card reader is a mini. That is ok for me, since I always use Micro SD inside an adapter, but one could argue it should be a full size SD reader. My last con is the price. It is arguably high, and usually for that high price tag, you want max performance, but I think things are just getting more expensive. That said, the performance was amazing, just not what I expected for the price. I was curious if I would be able to do more heavy tasks like video editing and photoshop etc, and although I haven’t tried that excessively yet, I feel like it’s possible, but not at a pro level like I would use it. I don’t think I can edit 8k 60fps, graphic heavy, video or giant RAW image files with tons of layers. But I can do basic edit work and that is still helpful. In reality, this is more than capable of running fast and clean for everyday tasks, surfing the internet, streaming videos and even gaming at respectable settings. And the bonus is, when you do that stuff, it’s gonna look gorgeous. Last note on price, most places do take trade-ins I believe, so if you have an old laptop, see if they’ll knock the price down some with a trade-in. PROS Enough of the complaining, what’s to like here? Well, too much to write without a 10 page novel. But the highlights are as follows. (and you may notice, a lot of the “cons” are still “pros” in a different light) Battery life. Yup, the first con is the first pro. It’s just how you look at it and how you use it. If you plan on using a lot of processing power and multi-tasking with ports connected and bluetooth mirror phone screens and music playing etc, it’s gonna drain quicker than you were told. But if you keep your brightness down a bit, you’re not connected to tons of things or streaming wireless data, the battery life should last you all day. And honestly, most of the time I was using the laptop, I would have been plugged in if not trying to test the battery life. So if you factor in some top up times in the day, with the charging brick, you’ll be totally fine with the battery. The performance you get from the laptop combined with the battery life makes the battery life impressive. I believe this is due to the chip and a bunch of technical yak yak that basically means, it’s a very efficient battey. Galaxy ecosystem. If you have other samsung galaxy devices, this laptop slips right into that ecosystem so well. We have galaxy phones in my house, and the ability to sync things and use the Samsung apps across my devices was really nice. You have to turn certain settings and features on for this and obviously need a galaxy device, but it’s nice when things just work together. Something apple users say a lot and now galaxy and android users can start to say that too. The laptop runs windows and has copilot+ which I wish I could say I use a lot and love, but I’m just not finding points in my day where AI is good enough to help me faster than my good ol fashioned brain power logic. BUT it’s nice that this laptop is future proof and when AI continues to grow and get better, the book5 pro should be able to keep up. I also would note, not a ton of bloatware added, samsung apps for sure, and you can delete them if you don’t use them, but not a ton from Windows which is nice. The touchpad is large and responsive. I've heard others say it’s not haptic, but honestly, I’ve never had one like that and I don’t think I care that it's not there. Most people will probably use a mouse anyway, but when you need to use the touchpad, it’s easy to use, customizable in settings and doesn’t get in the way when you type. Speaking of touching things, the touch screen worked really well too. I love being able to just use my fingers to navigate faster or quickly move things. I tend to hybridize the touchpad and touchscreen and it works for me. Not a ton of visible fingerprints either by the way. The screen has a good anti reflection on it that seems to hide prints unless your light is just right. And did I mention the screen?! I know I know, but it does look sooo nice. There’s plenty of settings to dial in the color profile you like and adjust the visuals to your needs. On a 14 inch screen, the 3k adaptive amoled is more than enough to get a great picture. Those who complain it’s not a higher resolution probably won’t even see a difference. The AMOLED and 120hz refresh is what makes it so gorgeous. I’m not much of a gamer, but the few older games I have I tried to play with average visual settings on, it still performed well and provided me plenty of joy. Oh and on that note of running the laptop a little harder, how are those fans? Jet engine? No, not at all. I know it’s subjective, but compared to other laptops I have, this book5 really is much quieter and stays cooler. I don’t know how they did it, but my ears are thankful. Yes, you will hear the fans kick on, this isn’t silent. But they won’t fill the room with fan noise. Lastly, it’s just so thin and portable. Isn’t that what you want in a PORTABLE computer anyway? Lots of power, easy to take with you, and able to connect to your desktop setup when needed. This little samsung galaxy book5 pro can do all that. It slips into backpacks and bags so easily, it’s light and thin but with just a few cables plugged into external monitors, drives, etc, you can use it to run your desktop office space too. The performance is good enough to handle most tasks and compete with the apple products and other comps out there in its class. OVERALL: So what do I think overall? It’s a small, portable but powerful laptop that earned the name pro. It has all the latest tech to keep up with AI and the future of computers, it’s gorgeous to look at, the battery can keep up with you all day and Galaxy device users will love multi control and other cross device options. Windows runs smooth and the touchscreen is responsive and a joy to use, just like the newly designed touchpad. There’s no S pen support and the keys are shallow, and you may find yourself wanting ports more spread over both sides. The sticker shock might get you too, but once you use the laptop and experience what it can do, you will see why the cost is the cost. And when you’re pushing the Book5 Pro to its max and the fans kick on, you won’t be waking any babies or feel like Maverick taking off a carrier. There’s so much to like on this laptop. I'm really happy with what Samsung has done in the book pro series and can’t wait to use this machine more and more.

Had to buy from a different place because I didnt get the one i ordered from best buy and customer service is horrible. The laptop itself is okay.

My husband and I bought two of these. I felt like we were being sold a used car. "But wait, there's more!" We needed computers. Then we asked the Geek Squad to transfer everything from our old computers to our new ones. That's all we wanted. My husband's passwords have all been wiped clean and someone chose to relocate all of my files to microsoft. I did not want them there. I was told I would have to transfer them back. I thought when I requested that the computer file be EXACTLY like how they were, I had no idea that somebody would be deciding for me better ways to use my computer. This has been a miserable experience.

Very bad experience with Best Buy ordering this product. It arrived damaged and they supposed to scheldue return and new order. Instead they scheldue just return and refund. The product was on sale so I could not get it again for the same price. The first agent handling the return told me I will have a new product coming when they will pick up the return

Good quality. Lightweight and powerful. 14” version is the better deal. 16” has better resolution, but form factor is too large (for backpacks and HS student).
