I've owned the competition since they came out with the first fitness band and am pleased with what Samsung has brought to market. The watch faces are amazing in variety and detail. Using the stock face set it's difficult to tell if there are real hands or just a very detailed display. Using your phone through the watch isn't just a gimmick, it's actually quite a useful feature ... no more fumbling with your phone, just raise your hand. Sleep tracker is useful, but the algorithm isn't as smooth as the competition as deep sleep is rarely detected. On a plus note it gets processed much faster and data is readily available on your wrist. From a fitness perspective the watch has been great. It provides clear music signals, good heart rate tracking, and solid reminders to keep you moving through out your day. Battery life is a function of what apps you use. If you go with always on faces you'll charge every other day. With minimal background apps and short auto-off settings you can get almost 4 days. Still not best in class life, but solid performance for the added functionality that you get.

For smartwatches it's all about the battery. This Samsung Galaxy Watch has the largest battery in the galaxy watch line - 472 milliampere hours. You can easily get 4 days on a single charge. That matters, and it's what really makes this watch stand out. It doesn't hurt that it is good looking to boot and integrates seamlessly with most smartphones. Sadly, Samsung seems to have forgotten the importance of the battery in their most recent Galaxy Watch 3 line as those devices have significantly smaller batteries and much shorter times before requiring a charge. Lets hope that they reverse that trend for the future.

I will keep this brief. I had worn fitbit for a few years. With all due respect to their marketing, this company should cease business activities as their products are limited, highly inaccurate trash. But I had the history. The Samsung is 100 percent accurate on fitness tracking of steps and miles. It is a very nice looking product and it has many, many options. Ease of use is not great. I am still trying to figure out how to rearrange my apps even though I have watched tutorials numerous times. Plan on spending a lot of time getting to know it. The battery is very good, but charging is slow, don't think you can throw on the plug in charger each day before you get in the shower. It does appear to be truly waterproof as I have swam with it. The major selling point is the connectivity and the accuracy. Plus its pretty darn nice to look at. The watch faces are fun to change. Wish it was a little more user friendly, but you can do an awful lot worse. For example Fitbit....

I debated about a watch with Samsung's Tizen OS vs Android Wear OS. None of the existing Android Wear watches have all of the features I wanted, but Tizen is limited in some of the apps you can install (like no Google apps). I am glad I went with this watch. It is large, but I decided to get the 46mm due to the larger battery size.
I am happy to say that most of my concerns about software went away after some time with the watch. The only thing I wish I did have on this watch was Google Keep and the Google Assistant. It does work flawlessly with the Gmail app on my phone, and it does well with calendar reminders and even Google Keep or other Google Reminder notifications, but if you set up an event on your watch it will load to your phones default calendar, which in my case is the Samsung calendar. I don't plan on adding a lot of events through my watch, so that is ok. I can also view upcoming events from my Google calendar, but that is because I have it synced to the default calendar app on my phone.
Bixby Voice is mostly worthless, as it is on the phone, but it is useful for taking text messages through the watch which sometimes can be useful when hands free is a must.
I have the Bluetooth version, not the LTE version. I usually have my phone on me or within Bluetooth range, so this isn't an issue for me. Even when walking. You can take calls on it if you want, as long as the phone is nearby, so I didn't see the point of paying extra mobile fees each month and the extra $50 for the LTE version.
Battery life is excellent. I easily get 3 days out of it. It depends on how you use it. I went for a 40 minute walk last week and used the walking exercise function with GPS and that drained about 4% of my battery at one time, so still not bad. It charges in about 2ish hours at about 15% remaining.
The Samsung Health sleep monitor is very detailed and I review it every morning. I am trying to improve sleep habits.
Haven't tried getting it wet yet. I did buy an after market 22mm leather band and it fits just like any other watch.
Lastly - I like the ability to change faces. Can use different faces for different activities, if I want, and if you get bored of one face there are thousands of others. OH - and at least two of the built in faces have ticking sound that comes out of the watch like a real watch. That is a cool trick.

The Galaxy Watch is powered by the new Exynos 9110 , another dual-core processor that no longer operates at 1 GHz but at 1.15 GHz. Samsung itself announced that the chipset is 35 percent more energy-efficient and powerful than the Exynos 7270 chip in its older watches. While nearly everything on the watch looks like the Gear S3 Frontier, Samsung has opted for a significantly finer ribbing on the revolving bezel, as seen on the Gear S3 Classic. The bezel is slightly tighter than its predecessor and should be inadvertently operated less often. There are four LEDs on the underside now to illuminate the skin in order to measure the pulse. The brightness of the Super AMOLED display was impressive across the board . Even in direct sunlight, the screen remains easily readable. In addition, the ambient light sensor placed under the display automatically adjusts the brightness to the external conditions. Samsung also included a daily Briefing, which appears on the smartwatch when it detects that the wearer has gotten up or is putting the watch on in the morning. Information such as the date, weather, upcoming appointments, reminders and the expected battery life for the day are displayed. In the evening, the Galaxy Watch will spit out information about your training successes of the day and the weather for tomorrow before going to bed.
Together with Samsung Health, the Galaxy Watch can now automatically detects 39 types of exercise. The watch can also be used to combine several different sports. After your training session, information such as total training time, calorie consumption, pulse, distance covered and average speed is displayed. There is now a ‘water stop mode’ for swimming. This prevents the Galaxy Watch from misinterpreting the water flow passing by the watch as an input on the display. In addition, when leaving the water, the watch automatically exits water stop mode and immediately starts to clear openings for the loudspeaker and microphone from water using compressed air. This is acknowledged with a corresponding warning tone. Samsung has given the larger Galaxy Watch a 472 mAh battery - almost 100 mAh larger than the one in the Gear S3. According to the manufacturer, this will give the watch a runtime of up to 168 hours with a continuous Bluetooth connection to a smartphone. I charge it every 5 or 6 days. The battery life on the larger Galaxy Watch that we tested was as convincing as its predecessors. We had no problems with the display permanently switched on and were able to manage two days of use without looking for a charger. For example, I found I had a full 62 percent of charge after a full day of use. If you deactivate the display, you can get three or four full days of battery life, depending on whether you check your pulse regularly and use the GPS navigation.

If you want a do all watch, this is the one to get PERIOD. Samsung's Galaxy Watch has an DOPE more superior design to Apple's Watch Series. Battery life is great up to 4 1/2 days worth on a FULL SINGLE charge, it's fully waterproof and you can get hundreds of watch faces for it. You also can watch YOUTUBE, listen to Spotify, use the internet. Plus, choose from a collection of interchangeable bands. Another DOPE feature is that the Galaxy Watch is even cross-compatible with iOS and other Android phones.

I really like this watch when it comes to notifications of emails and texts. I use messenger to text so it's sad that I can't actually go into the app on my watch, but in reality it's easier to text from my phone anyway. So it's still nice to get those notifications and quick reply from them. My only issue I have from using this watch for about a month is that the heart rate detection is not always accurate. If I'm exercising or running on a treadmill often times I will look at my watch and it will tell me to adjust it higher up my arm. It feels like I need to make the strap as tight as I possibly can on my arm in order for the watch not to move and to record my heart rate. The watch also counts steps, measures heart rate, and cadence, but somehow can not determine the distance I run on a treadmill. I feel like in 2018 there should be some kind of way of determining that based on all the information the watch already has about me (height, average cadence, steps, etc). Heart rate is also not recorded automatically during workouts unless you turn it to always be on which drains the battery like crazy. You must go into 'Other Workout' in order for it to measure heart rate while working out. Otherwise it will only measure it every 10 minutes when you are not moving at all

This watch is very nice. the battery life is great, even if you play with it all day. the paring and notifications are great. If you and your wife get this watch. and you both customized them. you will tell whos is whos. replying or receiving texts or calls are quick and easy. Turn the bezel to the right to answer or left to reject. You can create your quick responses to text messages which I love and use a lot. Overall this watch has been a great investment.

I'll start by saying that I had been hesitant to purchase this watch for a while, but when it went on sale again I decided to go ahead and get it. I have a Pixel 3xl and I was planning on waiting for the pixel watch to come out, but I guess I became too impatient. I read a lot of reviews and saw where a few people had issues with the watch, but other than some minor gripes, I have no major complaints with this watch. Set up was easy, but you have to make sure you follow the steps and download all the apps required. This watch works perfectly with my Pixel 3xl. I receive notifications for email, text and phone calls and can respond right from the watch. I've used the watch to take phone calls a few times and had no issues. The battery life on this watch is excellent. Granted I don't wear the watch at night and usually turn it off once I get home from work, but I still like the fact that I don't have to charge it that often. As far as the fitness aspects of the watch, I did not buy this watch for its tracking capabilities. The step counter is not accurate, but I still get a good idea of how many steps I take a day. I haven't gone for a run with the watch or done any other exercises with the watch because I really don't care to. If you're looking for a fitness tracker then you should buy a fitness tracker/watch. I hated the band that comes with the watch so I ordered a few off of Amazon and those are so much better. The watch looks amazing and I have gotten compliments on it and people ask me about it often. If you are on the fence about purchasing this watch don't be. I'm glad I finally purchased it and do not regret it at all.

Great looking watch and size is perfect. Like the larger face for visuals and others viewing the watch asking what kind it is. Have not scratched the surface on all its functions but enjoy looking at my wrist upon notifications rather than pulling my phone out of my back pocket. Do not like the Bixby function, as I am an Amazon person but it was not a complete deal breaker. Would recommend for any person from novice to advanced athlete.

I bought this Samsung Smartwatch as a "Deal of the Day" for $169. In my opinion the watch is well worth the money that I paid. I have over 100 FREE watch faces downloaded into it. It connects very well with my Samsung A50 phone. I wear and use it all day every day. I have collected six different quick-swappable bands for it. I usually charge it every morning although it doesn't really need it because it usually hasn't even used 25% of the power in 24 hours. If I had to push it I am sure it would last 3 or 4 days before needing a charge. I like the fact that it has wireless charging. I have it set to notify me every time that I get a text or an email. It is very convenient to be able to just look at my wrist instead of looking at my phone whenever I get a message. I own three other smart watches (all Chinese). I rarely use any of them because the battery barely lasts a full day on any of them. This Samsung Smartwatch is miles above any of them in tech features. I also own over a dozen regular watches which just sit in a drawer because this is the only watch that I use now. I highly recommend this watch.

After three weeks using the Galaxy watch I can say that there are some things I love about it and some things that flat out don't work. I'm still trying to decide if they are deal breakers.
Things I love: Watch face options, ease of use, text/email/social media notifications and the vibration feature that allows me to know when any of these come in without sound and without needing my phone on me. Things currently not working: Stair step counter - does not work at all. I've tried online recommendations and still no-go. Sleep tracker seems very spotty. I think my actual night time sleep records may be accurate, but if I sit and watch TV for an hour it will count that as sleep and add it to my record, skewing the average. I'm still trying to figure out how accurate the actual step counter is as well. If I walk holding anything (like a cup of coffee) in my watch hand, it does not track the steps. And this morning I had 10 steps recorded before I even got out of bed. Small things, but I am curious how these inaccuracies add up over a whole day.
Otherwise, there are plenty of other apps to keep it fun and interesting. If you really need something to track health indicators, this may not be the watch for you. If it is primarily a watch and the other stuff is more of a "fun" side benefit, it's great.

I finally took the plunge on a smartwatch, and I am not disappointed. Matched right up with my Note 8, and runs like a top. I'm not beating it to death, and am getting 3-4 days on a charge. Still have to play with it more, as I don't think I'm getting everything out of it that I can. Great watch.

I am in my late 60s with average technical skills. I bought the watch for its different watch faces, text receiving and weather. I am using the fitness more than I thought. Battery lasts over 2 days.
It was easy to pair it up with my Samsung android phone. I don't plan on using it as a phone.
I recommend it for the above purposes stated.

Good watch with limited functionality. The battery lasts at least 3 days with moderate use but not think you have the same capabilities as an android watch or apple watch. Almost no apps for it that are useful. The health tracking is nice but it doesnt warn you about high or low heart rates like apple watch and the health app doesnt track your data from your phone. So your watch data is independent from your phone but your phone can consolidate your watch data. So when I glance at my watch it will often have a lower step count than what I actually have because I didnt put it on first thing in the morning vs my phone tracks both. A little annoying if I'm not wearing my watch for cutting the lawn and have been walking for an hour. Apple does offer this feature.
The biggest driver for this watch is sleep tracking (although it isnt always accurate or work) and long battery life. I'll also add in the fact that it looks like a real watch and has done really cool watch faces are a big plus.
If you have an android, it is one of the best for now until android can finally get something that looks good and lasts more than a day off the charger. If you have an iPhone, then it's no contest, dont buy it.

This watch does everything I needed it to do and more. You can easily read and respond to notifications. The floors climbed counter does seem to be a bit of hit and miss. However, I have found the step count to be very accurate at a normal walking pace. Not as accurate if you are walking slow while shopping in store aisles. Overall, the watch has a great look and is comfortable to wear. The build quality seems to be excellent, I did install a screen cover to preclude scratches and it has had zero effect on touch screen sensitivity. The thing I like best to make it really easy to use is the rotating bezel. Battery life has been excellent by current smartwatch comparisons. The Tizen OS is very fluid and customizable. Apps run very smoothly with only drawback being that they are limited in availability.
Bottom line: This is the third smartwatch I have owned and it is by far the best one to date. If you are looking for a fantastic watch with very solid performance this is the watch to buy.

I've had S3 Frontier since day 1. I've taken it swimming, floating the river, working out, and just live my daily life without restrictions. Toward the end the battery life starts to shorten and the watch would stopped functioning out of the blue. Of course as those things were happening, I have been anticipating the announcement of Gear Watch with the OS change and improved battery life. Now fast forward to now after having it since, again, day 1, the battery has held up well, Bluetooth connection with my S8+ has been solid, Watch OS is responsive, and the new watch color gave me an excuse to buy a new watch band to match. I simply wanted a updated S3 Frontier and that's exactly what I got. While S3 Frontier got me complements, Gear Watch is no slouch in looks department either. In fact I quite enjoy the silver contrasting the matte black!

Getting this thing on sale makes this watch a no brainer over the Galaxy watch 3. Look great, feels great, has premium features and works seamlessly with my Note 10+
I even bought one for my dad who has a Motorola phone and it also runs beautifully for him.
