I do wish there were more good apps made for this watch, but the one thing I can see is that you always wonder if you should own a smart watch, then once you do, you wonder how you lived without it. Receiving notifications for my phone calls, text messages, garage door being up and down, and pretty much everything else on my phone I miss when I put it on vibrate is now on my wrist, where I never miss a thing. The text to speech, and hand written texts work pretty good. I like that I can hit my speed dials, use my calculator, and control my music, without taking out my phone. The main downside with this, and all watches that have this feature, is the heart rate monitor is pretty much useless for high intensity training. I think it's there to track your couch potato moments? Anyhow, the battery life isn't bad (2 days max, 24 hours typical), and it puts your phone closer to your face at all times. I like tracking my sleep with it, although Samsung could take some queues on how to do the health stuff from FitBit. Their app is better for that sort of thing.

I've been holding out from buying a smartwatch because the one thing I can't stand about them is the short battery life........... this is not that watch!!! It took a few charging cycles for the battery to reach its full potential and I can easily go 5 days on a single charge by turning it off before going to bed and turning it back on as soon as I wake up. I love the rotating bezel and the feel of it as it click click clicks when rotating it. The screen is very responsive and amazing how much detail can be packed into such a tiny screen. I find that Samsung Health software installed helps motivate me to workout more each and keeps really good track of my progress or lack thereof LOL. Ione nothing but Citizen watches and this one just makes it feel as though I'm wearing something similar as I'm not a fan of square or rectangular watches. I'm very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend this watch for anyone who wants to have the best of both worlds, looks and functionality.

I've had each version of the Samsung smartwatch (formerly Galaxy) and this is, by far, the best. The major improvement is in battery life. I can now use the always on mode and it usually has between 65-75% battery life left by the end of 16 hour day. If I don't use always on mode, it will have about 85% battery left. Notifications and apps are similar to the previous version. Screen is very readable and the watch is not too large.

Extremely satisfied. Primarily bought this for the health functions. All work quite well for a smartwatch except for the stair climbing function which is completely worthless. Battery charge is outstanding 4 days minimum (for me). Switched out band with paracord band for comfort. Added a case protector to prevent scratches on crystal. Great watch with many functions.

Wanted one of these for a very long time. Glad I waited...love it. still getting used to some of the functions but, so far, the battery life is excellent and it works great with my Samsung Note 9. Purchased an aftermarket band and makes it a little dressier.

    Better than Apple Watch

Well, my statement might be too "aggressive" to Apple lovers, but the truth is that this watch gives me all I want from a smartwatch, and is better looking than Apple's versions. I am looking for anything fancy on my smartwatch, thus the reason I say it's better when it may not be completely true. I wear it every day. I run, swim and ride my bike wearing it. The information I want from it, in addition to the time, is connection to Strava, monitor my sleep, get some notifications on my watch, heart rate, weather. For the price, no brainer to get this if all the features you get on Apple Watch are not needed. And it's better looking for sure! BTW, it is connected to an iPhone 11 Plus.

first of all its great design, even if its just watch not a smart one, i like the style. It was my first smart watch, usually I was against the idea of smart watch, cause I hate to charge it every day and I was thinking why to have smart watch if your phone with you always, but actually it made my life easier. And about charging I'm doing that every 4 days, that means it last long, easy to use, and I love the Dessa lot more than other new galaxy styles, size is perfect for every man, i guess for women they have to get the smaller size 42mm. But I recommend it and like it a lot.

Only had it for 3 days and still learning all it can do but the basics are awesome. Great smart watch and fitness tracking paired with Samsung Health app is awesome. If you are using Samsung Health then this is a no brainer. Battery life right out the box is great. I have not had to charge it yet and have been playing with it none stop with wifi, bluetooth and GPS all on. I don't use the always on screen as it makes no sense to me to waste the battery life lighting up your wrist while you are not even looking at it. When you turn your wrist to view the screen comes on. This is not some scifi device but in the real world it does all I need it to do.

1+ month owner & user. Watch is comfortable and works great. The battery life is good if you do normal use on it. If you're trying to use the watch for multimedia and GPS without your phone then duh it's going to die within 24 hours. I've had no problems with the watch dying on me yet and typically I charge it every night but even if I forget to charge the watch it will last ~38 hours and still be around 20% battery. I use the watch for workouts and timers also notifications from my phone while driving so I don't have to look at my phone. The 46 MM will fit men with big arms well and wrists and make you not look feminine. I noticed Apple Watches look very feminine on men with bigger arms such as myself. Looks weird to me. Plus I have a Samsung S9+ which pairs fantastically with this watch, why would I get an Apple Watch? The material or finish they use on the "gear" on the watch that spins is very weak and got scratched up and diminished from very light use. Expect the ring gear to get worn out as far as the finish gets scratched really easily. Personally I don't care because I didn't buy this watch all for looks it's more for functionality and I don't mind if my tools show wear. I wear it when showering and I've worn it submerged in a tub and had no problems with water. The watch works fine. This watch is not good at multi tasking. I've noticed that if I try to unpair my phone and run the watch in bluetooth & wifi mode by itself with Spotify & workout the watch will freeze and my music will too. Sometimes when shifting from app to app it will also lag out and kind of glitch the animation to the next page. I'm a light user too I'm not trying to game on this thing or anything like that. Spotify + Tracking a workout will freeze and I've tried resetting the watch without luck. Uninstalled Spotify on my watch and also noticed an improvement in battery life. I'm giving 4 stars because of the low quality finish on the ring gear on the watch, it scratches off too easily from light use and I think a different maybe stainless metal should be used without a coating on it. Whatever this coating is wears off very easily and looks bad after only a few weeks of light use. I also do not like that the watch does sometimes freeze up and lag when transitioning from different pages of the watch. (rarely happens) I would've been happier spending around $250 for this watch considering the quality and issues I've had. I paid $300 + $60 Geek Squad Replacement Plan and expected a seamless experience, no lag and the build quality to be pretty good considering they advertise how rugged and tough it is with gorilla glass etc. The ring can't even handle light use without getting all scratched up and discolored.

I'm really hesitant to buy a tech watch as I'm trying to get away from technology as much as possible. I even waited a few days after Christmas to open it, as I thought about returning it. Boy am I glad I opened it! The watch lasts about 3-4 days and I use it constantly. I really haven't figured out how to pick up a phone call or make a call yet, but maybe someday. :) I use Textra and I get all my messages as I don't like the Samsung app especially for pics and gifs. The best part I've realized is it deters me from using my phone during workouts, since I have it on my wrist, I can just look at it and get to responding later. I don't really care about the number of steps as I'm very active but for those that do it may help you. All in all a great product and worth the money spent!

I had been looking at purchasing this watch for a while. I decided to wait until black Friday to see if would go on sale, and it did. It's a great watch if you have any of the Samsung Galaxy line, which makes sense as it's the Galaxy Watch. It will only work with apps that Samsung uses. I love being able to make/answer phone calls directly from the watch. Send and receive text messages. Check email and track heart rate and steps. The battery life can last up to 3 days depending on how much and what you use it for. It lasts me 2 1/2-3 days depending on how many calls and texts I do. I generally take it off and turn it off after work if I plan to stay in the rest of the night. You won't be disappointed.

I upgraded from the Gear 2 to this Galaxy model. The operation of the bezel and access to features is the same on the Galaxy as it is on my previous watch. This model is a much more substantial watch which I truly love thus far. The battery has lasted 3+ days, and I can now get all of my notifications (email, text, health stats, etc.) without the battery dying quickly as I had experienced on my previous model. The watch looks amazing and I was originally concerned the face may be too big, however I actually now realize my previous watch face was too small. This was is exactly what I was looking for in an upgrade.

I love this watch! I love the display, the watch band, the size. It is absolutely perfect. It is so comfortable to wear I sometimes forget I am wearing it. Samsung does an amazing job in keeping the software up to date. My favorite part is changing the watch face. No more will I be forced to stare at the same ugly watch face of a standard watch ever again! I am a big guy with a big wrist. This watch looks great on that left wrist. If you don't already have one, you better run and get you one. By the way I had an iPhone initially and this thing paired up wonderfully with it. Then I got rid of iPhone and got me a Samsung phone. I would never go back. Highly recommend.

My biggest mistake was "borrowing" my wife's smart watch to see how I'd like it. After a week I was questioning how I'd gotten by this long without one & had to get one for myself. Did a bit of window shopping (Samsung was on my short list since I use an S8) & tried on a few various options before deciding this is "the one for me". I don't use a ton of apps on my phone, S-health, time keeping, text, weather, & the occasional taking a call when I don't want to dig my phone out of my pocket. Battery life has been great (I typically charge on the 3rd day with about 30% battery left) which works well for me. The "classic" styling is a plus for me as well & have received a few compliments about the looks.

I don't even know how to describe how great this watch is. I had a gearfit pro 2 and wanted to upgrade to the Galaxy 42mm originally. Instead I purchased an unused open box Galaxy 46mm for a great price. Being a woman I felt it might be too big on my wrist but I quickly fell in love. After a week of wearing it I can tell you the battery lasts about 3 days and my heart rate is on point with the cardio equipment at the gym. I love all the features like reading my texts and emails, the alarm/notification sound is surprising loud, and this is just the best smartwatch/fitness watch ever. The only thing I haven't tried is the GPS for hiking. I will be real interested to see how the Galaxy holds up. I highly recommend this watch.

My wife got it for me for Xmas. I have to admit, it was on my Xmas List. I was a little hesitant about listing it though, after reading so much from verified purchasers on Amazon about how inaccurate the step counter/heart rate monitor was. Well, as far as the steps, it seems pretty accurate to me. I used to use the Polar Loop for my activity tracker, and I wore them both for a week. The Loop counted a little more than the Samsung, but it was within 5%. I'm 50 now, had to start wearing reader glasses about 5 years ago. If I don't have my glasses, I can't see anything on this watch. On many screens, you can double-tap the screen and make the letters a little bigger, but they're still too small for me to see. I like that I don't have to fish in my pocket to answer my phone or text. Just one swipe on the watch and I can answer my phone thru the watch, just like a Batman Watch. The first 2 times that I jogged with the watch, all I did was to set the heart-rate monitor to be ON all the time while I was running. Then, I had to turn it off when I was done, otherwise it runs the battery down pretty quick. After running about 3/4 mile, I noticed that the watch automatically sensed I was running and it would show me my heart rate while I was running whenever I would lift my arm to look at it. As I ran semi-frequently with my Polar Loop with Chest-strap for the last 4 years, I knew what my heart-rate should have been and the watch was pretty much spot on. When I was done running, after a little while, it sensed I was done and congratulated me for a great run. It then showed me a graph of my heart rate and speed over the whole 50 minutes of my jog. Unfortunately, I knew exactly how far I jogged, 3.2 miles, and the watch said I only jogged 2.91 miles. The same thing happened the next day, only it said I jogged 2.77 miles. So, on the third day, I decided to try to manually use one of the Samsung Health programs to gauge my jogging. I clicked on the Samsung Health Icon ON MY PHONE, scrolled down to the little Icon that showed a man running, clicked on it, and the next screen showed my position on a map and a button that said START. I clicked on the START button, and it showed a countdown....4.....3.....2.....1...Go! I start jogging.... and after about 100 yards, I hear a voice say....OK, LET"S BEGIN WITH SOME STRETCHING...... but I've already stretched, and I'm already running and I ignore it. After about 1/2 mile, the voice says, OK, LET's DO SOME CALISTHENICS..... I'm getting frustrated, realizing that the watch is not doing what I thought it should do, as I've been on a full on jog for 5 minutes already. When I got close to a mile, the voice said...OK, LET's START RUNNING..... Well, obviously, the watch is not as smart as I thought it was. It's programs are strictly following whatever the programmer told it to do instead of what I really am doing. So, I finish my jog... 31 minutes, 2.25 miles.... I know, pretty slow. I fell off the wagon for a few months and it's going to take a few weeks to be able to jog without having to stop and walk 200 yards after the first mile and every 1/2 mile there-after. Even though I know I covered 2.25 miles on that day, using the manual running program, the watch only said I covered 2.16 miles. Closer than before I guess. It did not show my heart-rate either, at all, neither during the jog nor in the jog summary. The summary did show a map of where I jogged, and a graph showing my speed and cadence (steps per minute), but sadly no heart rate info. SO, the next day, instead of setting the manual jog program on the phone, I only used the icons on the Samsung Health program on the watch. First, I made sure to turn on the heart monitor to ON ALL THE TIME, then I clicked on the SAMSUNG HEALTH icon, scrolled down to where it showed a little man running, and clicked on it. On the next screen, I clicked on the WORKOUT button, and then it showed me many different icons of what type of workout I wanted to do. I clicked on the icon of the little man running. The next screen showed a flashing GPS and also a red heart with what I guess was an earlier heart-rate. It also had the words START RUNNING with a green arrow in a circle. I clicked on the green arrow, then it counted down from 4...3....2....1.... begin workout... Then, as I was jogging, it showed me the time I had been jogging, and a little heart icon, but no heart-rate. I then jogged my 3.2 miles, but the watch only said 2.73 miles. It did not show my heart-rate at all during the run, nor did it show it in the run summary. There was no map showing where I ran, only a graph showing my speed and cadence. The 5th day of using the watch for tracking my run, I again used only the watch, turning on the heart-rate to ON all the time, then clicking on the little man running icon in Samsung Health.... pretty much the same results as the prior day except it said it was only 2.66 miles instead of the 3.2 I knew I jogged. No heart rate info, at all.... just a graph showing my speed and cadence. I'll have to experiment with the activity tracking of this watch some more. So far I'm not impressed. Another thing, I got the larger version and it's kinda bulky. I'm not used to having something this large on my wrist, and I've accidentally drug it across some stucco and concrete walls that I've accidentally got a little to close to, and it has scratched up the bezel very noticeably. I hope the rotating bezel can be replaced/swapped out, but I'm told that's not possible. Sucks to have this fancy $300 watch on my wrist with a very noticeably scratched up bezel. The screen is not scratched, just the rotating bezel.

I've had the watch for a little over a month now and feel comfortable with posting my review. The Samsung Watch 46mm device hit every need I had. It is has great health tracking features, works seamlessly with my Galaxy phone and looks great doing it. The battery life is superb and was a huge factor in my purchasing this particular wearable. I liked it so much I came back and picked up three Active watches for my family. I chose the active on those due to size (40mm).
