I purchased my Gear Fit with a Samsung Galaxy S5 from the carrier store August 2014. It worked great, and I liked the narrow fit across the wrist. Particularly useful is the "Find My Device" function to locate the phone when misplaced. I used the step tracker and a number of the many applets that run on the watch itself. I also liked the notification on my wrist when a new email arrived, and the ability to easily see who is calling before opening the phone. When my Galaxy S5 died, I found the watch kept running about 10 days, then without ability to sync with the phone, it lost the time and there was no way to reset it. The phone must install and run Samsung's Gear Fit Manager app to communicate with the watch. I sought another Galaxy phone to keep using it. Trying out newer Galaxy Phones at Best Buy, I was puzzled that the Play Store on Galaxy S6 and S7 did not list the Gear Fit Manager available (though it still lists the applets, which will not work alone). A Galaxy Express Prime at the carrier's store gave the same result. The watch itself prompts you try "apps.samsung.com/gearfit". This produces a message "This device does not support Gear Fit." (see attached screenshot). Calling Samsung in April, I was eventually told that indeed their Gear Fit Manager app had not yet been updated to work on their Android 6 phones. When pushed they estimated this would happen in "a month, maybe two". The rep was unable to give me an incident or ticket number to track this as an outstanding defect or notify me when it has been fixed. As of 2016 June 10th, it still has not been.

I was excited when I purchased this item. I tried to sync it to my Galaxy 5 and was having issues. I got so fed up that I returned the item and got a Fitbit.

Item did not sync with shealth when I contacted geek squad did not get any help I was asked to send it to Samsung.

The refurbished Gear Fit kept freezing up on me right away , I took it back to BestBuy and they talked me into spending more money on a new one. The new one is working great by the way. And I love it. It's just unfortunate that I had to spend more money to get one that was working properly when the refurbished ones should have done the same thing.

Only comment is the counter still runs while sitting. Returned item.

Pass on this if you do not own a Samsung Phone I do own a android phone but would not work took back to Best Buy And asked to set up through Geek Squad service they were unable to do it. They had a Samsung rep there that day and told us will work only with Samsung type devices it was returned that day

Had to send in to Samsung after it quit working. My wife has one it works great

I love the look of this. Very easy to read, very user friendly. The step count is way off. I walked maybe 30-40 steps and it said i walked over 300. It seems to count every time you move your arm as a step.

the the Gear Fit refurbished and it worked great for 40 days. then we got the "Reboot Loop" and it was never the same. battery was draining fast and the touch started to fail. i just returned it and got the BN Gear Fit 2.

keeps turning on for no reason so it drains the battery

Purchased this to track sleep and steps. Every time I moved my arms it increased the steps walked. Found it to be not accurate at all not even close to the actual steps walked. I have several Samsung products and was really disappointed with this one. Returned it.
