The sound quality cuts in and out. The settings in the system only sound good with music. Since there is no app it’s hard to reset the surround sound and connect multiple devices.

      TrishayS,

Thank you for taking a moment to review the HW-B650 Soundbar.

You can optimize your audio performance to your liking by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your soundbar remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing SURROUND SOUND, BASS BOOST, GAME, ADAPTIVE, DTS VIRTUAL:X, STANDARD.

By pressing the TONE CONTROL button, you can adjust the volume of the treble or bass sound. Press the button to select TREBLE or BASS and then adjust the volume between -6~+6 by using the Up/Down buttons.

Press and hold the SOUND CONTROL button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each frequency band. 150Hz, 300Hz, 600Hz, 1.2kHz, 2.5kHz, 5kHz, and 10kHz are selectable using the Left/Right buttons and each can be adjusted to a setting between -6 to +6 using the Up/Down buttons. (Make sure the Sound mode is set to “STANDARD”.

Additionally, using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the subwoofer’s volume between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down.

      Hello JamesB,

Thank you for sharing your review of the HW-B650 Soundbar. I am sorry to see that you are experiencing this issue with your Soundbar.

There are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot your Soundbar.

Please verify that you are running the latest firmware on your TV. You can check to see what software version your TV is using and if there is an available update through the settings on your TV. Go to: Menu > Settings > Support > Software Update.

Next, try doing a soft reset, unplug the soundbar from the outlet for roughly 30 seconds and then plug it back in.

Lastly do a hard reset. With the Soundbar on, press the + & - (Volume UP/DOWN) buttons on the body at the same time for at least 5 seconds. “INIT OK” appears on the display and then the Soundbar is reset.

If you need more help, Samsung is here for you. Please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8AM - 12AM EST (Ask for Soundbars), 7 days a week. Our LiveChat agents are also available by clicking on the ‘Support’ link on our website.

Enjoy the sound and performance of this unit but having to link it with my LG TV sound outputs each time we want to use it can be a real chore . Also when watching local broadcast the sound is slightly delayed which makes watching not so good .

      Hello Kirby,

Thank you for sharing your experiences with the HW-B650 Soundbar. Your feedback is critical to us and will be shared with internal team.

To quickly pair your soundbar using Bluetooth to your TV, press the BT button on the soundbar remote. Within a few seconds, you will see BT READY show on the LED display of your soundbar. This is your soundbar finding the TV when it was paired previously. From there the soundbar will automatically pair with the TV.

You are able to press the SOUND CONTROL button on the soundbar remote to adjust the AUDIO SYNC between 0 - 300 milliseconds to correct any lip sync issues. This is not available within Bluetooth, so you will need to make sure that you use either a Digital Optical cable or HDMI. We do recommend HDMI as this will offer the best audio and user experience available with this soundbar.

I hope these tips help you enjoy your new product.

Decent sound quality, however the Samsung television that I connected this soundbar to keep losing the signal on Bluetooth, and almost every time that I turn on the TV, I have to reconnect to the Bluetooth. It automatically seems to default to TV Speaker on the sound settings most times that I turn the TV on, or when I use the buttons on the TV remote to go to Netflix, Amazon or Samsung TV. I tried to find a solution online, and even thought it might need an update, but haven't found those directions as of yet. The fact that both the TV and the Soundbar are Samsung is the strange thing. I would have thought that would be the best combination, but it seems I was wrong.

      Hello AllenA,

Thank you for sharing your review regarding the HW-B650 Soundbar. Your experiences are incredibly important to us and will be shared with our internal product team.

I’m sorry to hear that your experience did not match your expectations.

First to troubleshoot your experienced issues with Bluetooth, please do a hard reset on the soundbar. With the unit powered ON, press the + & - (Volume UP/DOWN) buttons on the soundbar unit for roughly 5 seconds. You will see "INIT OK" scroll across the LED display and then the soundbar is reset.

You will need to adjust any settings you have chosen from before as this does reset the soundbar back to factory settings. If you are experiencing Bluetooth issues still, do a firmware up to the soundbar.

You can download the firmware directly from Samsung’s website by clicking “Support” in the top right corner. Then go to “Manuals & Software” > “TVs & Home Theater” > “Home Theater” > “Sound Bars”. From there, you can select the HW-B650 under Standard.

Download the update and install via USB thumb stick to your soundbar. If you need additional help, there are how to instructions on this page. Please know that Samsung Customer Service is here to assist as well.

If you are still experiencing issues, make sure that your TV is fully up to date, using your TV's remote, navigate to Settings, and select Support. Select Software Update, and then select Update Now.

If we can help with anything else, please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG (Ask for Soundbars), 8 AM – 12 AM EST, 7 days a week. LiveChat with an agent as well as manuals, software, and warranty info can be found at the ‘Support’ link on our Samsung website.

      Christian,

We appreciate you taking a few moments to review the Samsung HW-B650 Soundbar.

Please know that this model can be connected to your TV via HDMI.
Here is the step-by-step guide for your reference:
      1) With the Soundbar and TV turned on, connect the HDMI cable (not supplied).
      2) “TV ARC” appears in the display window of the Soundbar main unit and the Soundbar plays TV Sound.
      a. If TV sound is inaudible, press the (Source) button on the remote control or on the right side of the Soundbar to switch to “D.IN” mode. The screen displays “D.IN” and “TV ARC” in sequence, and the TV sound is played.
      b. If “TV ARC” does not appear in the display window of the Soundbar main unit, confirm that the cable is connected to the correct port.
      c. Use the volume buttons on the TV’s remote control to change the volume on the Soundbar.

If the TV provides an ARC port, connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI IN (ARC) port. We recommend you use a coreless HDMI cable if possible. If you use a cored HDMI cable, use one whose diameter is less than 0.55 inches (14 mm). This function is not available if the HDMI cable does not support ARC.

      Hello RogerM,

Thank you for leaving a review and sharing your thoughts on the new HW-B650 Soundbar. Your feedback is very important to us in our pursuit in bringing you the best in audio products.

You can try adjusting audio performance to your liking by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your soundbar remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing SURROUND SOUND, BASS BOOST, GAME, ADAPTIVE, DTS VIRTUAL:X, STANDARD.
SURROUND SOUND: Provides a wider sound field than standard.

BASS BOOST MODE: Sound field mode with emphasis on bass sound.

GAME MODE: Provides stereoscopic sound to immerse you in the action while gaming.

ADAPTIVE MODE: Analyzes the content in real time and automatically provides an optimal sound field based on the content you are enjoying.

DTS VIRTUAL:X MODE: Immersive 3D sound from any content.

STANDARD MODE: Outputs the original sound.

Press and hold the (Sound Control) button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each frequency band.

By pressing the TONE CONTROL button, you can adjust the volume of the treble or bass sound. Press the button to select TREBLE or BASS and then adjust the volume between -6~+6 by using the Up/Down buttons.

Additionally, using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the subwoofer’s volume between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down.

I hope these tips help you enjoy your new product.

Just purchased a little over a year ago and it already has stopped working. The warranty only last for a year so I’m out of luck. We were watching tv one day and the subwoofer just stopped working and never turned on again despite being paired fine. Samsung tech support told me to just buy rear speakers. I regret this purchase. I refuse to put any more money into this piece of junk.

      Hello PeterC,

We appreciate you taking a few moments to review the HW-B650 Soundbar.

In all configurations (Optical, Bluetooth and ARC) when the TV is turned ON, the Soundbar will turn ON. If your soundbar is not turning on, it could be due to another reason. For example, if the Soundbar was used to connect to another device (say a smart phone), then it will remember the last device (smart phone) and wait for a command from that device (the smartphone) and ignore the TV ON command.

You may want to try using a HDMI-ARC connection to the TV. When the TV turns ON, it will send a command to turn on the Soundbar and forces the source on the Soundbar to change to HDMI-ARC. This would make the Soundbar change the source from the prior state it was in.
