The failure necessitated hundreds of dollars in data recovery, and now, the need to buy replacement data storage. After sharing with other professional photographers, I've heard multiple reports of widespread issues with this particular disk within the last few months – sounds like a bad batch. I wish there was a way to get reimbursed for this to purchase a dependable replacement instead. It is not worth the risk to me to try this product again, and I regret spending so much money on it.

From the MacOS side, EXFAT format is relatively slow, file indexing takes longer then on spinning platter external HDDs, and has so far resulted in two file table errors that required reformatting the SSD. So recommend formatting as Mac OS Extended. APFS is another and newer format option, although will not support Mac's Time Machine backup. Works well as a portable/travel ready backup.

After using for the first time, it just got very hot during writing and reading data. It will probably break sooner if the heat is too much from using. Not recommend to buy.

It keeps disconnecting itself, stopping my workflow and forcing a restart. I have several of the same drive that work fine (purchased from other stores than best buy) but this one in particular is faulty and I haven't had the time/don't want to deal with the headache of getting a refund and also having to move like 3 tb of files that I need for active projects :/

Sandisk Extreme Portable eSSD is not worth

I am not happy with the speed even though it is SSD. Will evaluate as I use and see. Online reviews were not encouraging.
