Some annoying assembly, work with 2017 Vizio

Pros: - Come with rubber feet or carpet spikes for wood floors and carpet respectively. - Work well with my 2017 Vizio Soundcast satellite speakers - Seem stable Cons: - Assembly was slightly annoying in two parts. The main parts of assembly consist of the base, a rod that screws into the base, and a separate rod that has the height adjustment and holds the speaker mounts. The first annoyance was screwing the first rod into the base. It screws into a hole in the base, no problem. However, the instructions say to screw a nut at the bottom of the base to hold the rod in place and prevent it from getting loose. However, it is difficult the adjust the nut. The tool they supply to perform this action appeared to be bent, or it was just that difficult to adjust. I resorted to using a pliers until I screwed it on enough to deal with the tool. Scratched the nut a bit, but I got the job done. The second annoyance is the height adjustment mechanism. Either the threading on it was stripped, or it took a really long time to loosen it, but I had some trouble initially setting it up. Everything else regardign the assembly went pretty well. Additional thoughts: I noticed that the supplied mounting screws were too large for my Vizio speakers, but I recall seeing a comment on here from the manufacturer saying that Vizio's supplied screws for wall mounting work fine. I tried them, and it seems to be holding well. Unfortunately, I cannot utilize the cable hiding feature of this stand, because the Vizio connectors are large, but I just used the velcro cable ties Vizio supplies to tie the cable to the base of the stand to keep the cable close to the body of the stand.

Good product, not recommended for SONY HTIB

The speaker stands were easy to assemble. You will have plenty of parts left over, as there are 3 or 4 mounting brackets included to allow a variety of mounting systems. I bought these stands for the rear/surround speakers for my Sony Home Theater In a Box (HTIB) system with wireless rear speakers; however, I would not recommend these speaker mounts for that product. There is a very small hole in the tube, meant to be a wire-chase, near where the speaker mounts at the top of the tube. If you are using a SONY HTIB, each of the speakers is "hard wired", meaning there is no way to get the wires loose from the speaker, and there is a color coded plug on the other end of each of the wires. That hole is only about 20% large enough for that plug to fit through, and removing the wires from the plug requires one to depress a spring-like protrusion and pull the wire at the same time. Little did I know that the + and - wires were not marked in any manner, so when I got the two wires out of the first plug there was no way to know the polarity (the polarity is marked on the plastic plug into which the wires are inserted). I finally just traced the wires back from the other surround speaker to the plug and marked the - wire with a sharpie, hoping that the wires were not twisted inside the speaker cabinet, and then marked the wire on the - side of the other plug as soon as I got it out. I still do not know if the polarity is correct, but the speakers sound OK. It would have been a less-than-desirable option to just not use the wire-chase through the upright tubes on the speaker stand. If you have a system with plugs already attached to the end of the speaker wires. you need to either be ready to struggle with getting the wires out of the plug or perhaps find a different product. If it had not been for the hole being so small, I would have rated this product 5 stars, but that was just downright poor planning since HTIB products are all the rage these days. If you are starting out with a regular receiver and a spool of speaker wire marked for polarity (either 2 different color wires or a stripe or ridge to mark one of the two wires) you won't have this problem, so carry on and expect the product to work very well. The bases are heavy and the carpet spikes do a great job of keeping the stands from moving about in my application. Good luck! Now that I know what to expect I will probably buy another set for the front speakers and just wall mount the center channel speaker.

These speaker stands are way much cheaper than alot of them out there. I almost purchased the manufacturer speakers for double the price, for my definitive technology 600 speakers, but these stands work fine although some of the home theater store reps told me it probably wouldn't work. The only problems are: One of the knobs to tighten the speaker to the stand (to hand speaker on) got stripped with the screw to hold the speaker on, Best Buy didn't have extras so they told me to contact the manufacturer, the manufactuer hasn't contacted me in two weeks, doesn't matter since I set the speakers up differently but that isn't the point. Stripping could have been my fault, not sure if it was made like that. I then put them on the stand flat, it's an option to have the speakers sit on the stand, it worked and looked really good. The speaerks even stayed on tight, but once I put my 12 guage wire in them they fell off, I would suspect wire not as heavy would work fine. I finally used the option to screw the speaker on the stand, whcih I use now. No problems with this feature, although since the speakers aren't custom fit they kind of angle up when I tightened the speaker on, but not really even that noticeable (my friend didn't even noticed until I pointed it out to him, he still thought they looked good), maybe they angle up 1-2 degrees, from 90. All-in-all they are a sturdy stand, the spekers I bought will not fall off and the stand doesn't move, it is a little wobbly(not the speaker on the stand, the stand in general), but so were the manufacturers, that is another reason why I went with these. If you have smaller speakers than the ones I bought and smaller speaker wire, then this product is for you, it is also for you if you want to save money on maufactuer speaker stands like me and still be happy with a chaper$ (not so sure the quality is cheaper than more $ ones) but decent speaker stand.

My dog knocked over my Sony stands and broke one, so I needed a replacement. Unfortunately Sony does not make stands anymore so I had to these. To that extent, these work just fine. They are easy to put together, although the tool that they supply is terrible, so I just used a deep well socket. The stands allow for wire hiding by sending the wire through the pole and out the base (you have to go from the top to the bottom or it wont' work due to the bend in the stand). The stands are also telescopic and they go up pretty high, so if you have a tall couch you should be able to set them above the back. The entire thing is made out of metal and should withstand abuse by animals and kids jumping around the living room (that's how my original one broke...boy through the ball in the living room). The stands are pretty much universal, so matter what kind of satellites that you use for your surround speakers, they should fit on this stand. The base comes with carpet spikes and some other plastic nubs for use on floors to prevent the stands form sliding. I use the nubs on the carpet in case the dog knocks one the stands over and dislodges one of the spikes (they look like they would put a lego to shame on a bare foot). All in all a descent product. Would be 5 stars if they were little less money. These cost almost as much as my original Sony ones did when I bought those 15 years ago.

Stands NOT made for Vizio satellite speakers as suggested by Salesperson in store. None of the mounting hardware works unless you want to drill holes into the speaker and none of the screws are self-tapping to even facilitate this if one chose to do so. The speaker wire connections have RCA type plugs on each end which makes it impossible to use the “speaker wire hiding” option due to small holes and small diameter tubing that doesn’t allow use of this “feature” Unfortunately my surround sound system was damaged by lightning a few days after my purchase (4/1/19) and by the time I was able to get the damage assessed, acquire new equipment and after an hour and a half assembly process, where I then discovered the product was not comparable with my system, I was unable to return the product because I was past the Best Buy “return window” although I had just opened the package on this date (522/19). Oh well, looks like I’ve wasted $60.

Perfect Stands For Small HTIB Speakers

First off, this is a set of two stands -- the product description could certainly be clearer. The bases are good and heavy and the poles and even the L-bracket for mounting the speakers are very heavy gauge steel. The stands are not extremely tall, but they're the perfect height for my particular setup, and taller ones would probably tip (I mounted the front/back left/right speakers from a Samsung Blu-Ray HTIB with a set of 4 of these). The tightening ring is, as others have mentioned, plastic, but it should be durable enough if it isn't over-tightened. That said, these stands really are mostly for the "home theater in a box" speakers. If you replace the ring with a metal piece (not too hard to find at a hardware store), you could probably handle heavier speakers, but they'd be more likely to tip, since the base is not terribly wide side-to-side. If I had heavy expensive speakers that needed stands, I would go for a professional grade tripod, not cheap home stands. Assembly was ridiculously simple, though the instructions are insane in telling you to thread the speaker wire after assembly. Don't do that -- assemble the base to the first pole, thread the wire through that, thread the wire through the bent pole, THEN screw the two together. It also helps to bend back any exposed leads when pushing the speaker wire through, otherwise it will get caught on the rough surface inside. Easier yet is to just thread through some fishing line on a small sinker and pull the wire through.

Decent Speaker Stands for Price But...

I'll start off with the positives: -They look very nice for the price. I like the black finish. People will think they are more expensive then they actually were (I got mine on sale for $39.99). -Very sturdy. With heavy weighted bottoms and optional spikes for carpeted rooms and rubber things for flat hardwood floors. -a few different ways you can go about connecting the speakers depending on the type/kind of speakers you have. The negatives: -if you're using these for rear speakers, in my opinion the maximum height of 39 inches is not high enough for optimal surround sound experience. Rear speakers are supposed to be about 2-3 ft (60-90cm) above your ears. So if you're sitting on a couch you want them to be a few feet above your ears (facing slightly downward). The max. 39" gets you as high as about ear length (while sitting on couch). -instructions could be better. -feeding the speaker wires is a nightmare of a job. You have to thread the wires through two thin metal tubes one of them being slightly curved. You need to find a clever way to do so. I taped a thin heavy nail to the thin wire and fed it in slowly. Another way is a thin clip pen. Took several tries until I got them all the way through. Another reviewer mentioned getting a set of needle nose pliers. You must do this twice (once for each stand). Overall, nice, durable, sturdy speakers that will last you a long time of aural pleasure. Well worth the aggravation that comes with setting it up, which is a one time deal.

Expensive look for a great price

I found the appearance of these stands to be quite nice for the price (I paid $39.99). They seem to be very solid and with the carpet spikes installed they do not move much at all on my carpet. I would make one suggestion on how to go about threading the speaker wires through the stand. First off, do NOT assemble both poles before threading the wire. I threaded the wire through the bottom pole then seperately through the top pole. I found trying to thread it through both poles at the same time to be quite painful. After passing it through the second pole, I made sure I could pull the wire out of the top (a needle-nose plier was very helpful in this regard). After the wire has been passed through both poles and the opening at the top, complete the assembly of the entire unit. Another tip is to have a flat head screwdriver, that just fits in the hole, act as a stopper for the wire up top. It serves to help in guiding the wire out of that opening. Assembly was a bit tricky but otherwise a great looking stand for a very reasonable price.

I purchased these speaker stands after having my rear surround sound speakers mounted on the wall for years. Changing the layout of my living room made it difficult to keep the speakers on the wall and still be in the right place. These stands are perfect because it's extremely simple to match the speakers to whatever the layout is. The speakers were super easy to put together and came with enough assembly parts to use on just about any speaker, I'd imagine. My speakers are Yamaha NS-A327 and I could have actually mounted them several ways. I love having the speaker wires hidden in the shaft of these stands. The only drawback there is it helps to have your speaker wire cut to length, or preferably a bit longer, as it's easier to feed them into the stand from the mounting point versus from the bottom. I also like that these stands have multiple options on the base for either carpet or hardwood/tile floors. The weight of the base is also nice as I know these won't move or tip over easily if bumped (which is a possibility with two children in the house). The only thing about them that I dislike is I wish they were able to extend about 3" taller as one of them is in a corner near my couch and the bottom few inches of the speaker aren't completely above it, but that's a minor issue for me. Overall they're a great value and they worked perfectly for me.

Overall I am happy with the purchase of these Sanus speaker stands. The reason for the 3 stars is two-fold. First, I had to go buy some machine screws to fit my speakers. There were some screws included with the stands, but they didn't happen to fit my speakers. I guess that's understandable that it would be probably next to impossible for Sanus to include hardware for every available speaker out there. Secondly, and the biggest disappointment, was that I was unable to hide my speaker wire in the channel that runs through the stand itself. My speaker setup includes wires from the sub to the rear right/left speakers that have ends already attached that plug into the speakers and the sub. These ends will not fit into the channel in the stand. If you have standard old school stranded speaker wire with no ends attached you should have no problems. With my wires unable to run through the stand I am left with ugly exposed wiring. I'm going to use some zip ties to dress it up a bit and give it a cleaner look. It would be nice if Sanus would have made the channel just big enough to accommodate wiring with the component style connections already attached.

Some could say this is just a stand but this is so much more for me. It is a speaker mount solution in which I never had a speaker mount solution for the speaker I inherited. My surround sound speakers were given to me but they never had an original mounting bracket. I have searched for a compatible mounting solution for these speakers for literally years and never found one. I also wasn't ready to drill any holes in the walls or ceiling if I had found one. I almost had given in to just replacing the speakers with a whole new set and while I was shopping around Best Buy found these stands. I was reluctant even though it said that it had many different ways to mount. Finally, I brought 2 sets home and found the perfect fit for these speakers. I was very satisfied for this and would have rated perfect 5's in stars but the only problem I had was they do not extend in as much height as I would like them too. And they don't always balance well. If I don't touch them or adjust them any way they won't tip over. I would definitely recommend these to a friend that had the same issue of needing a universal mount or didn't want holes in the walls or ceiling.

We bought these for our new 5.1-channel home theater system in December 2012, attaching a small, lightweight Yamaha front speaker to each. Assembly was rather tedious, but eventually they were up and the height was properly adjusted. However, even with the stands fully hand tightened, they still had a tendency to turn with the slightest touch and would slip down an inch or two. A good wrench and cloth to protect the finish was required to completely tighten the stands. The pole on which each speaker was attached still seemed to turn within the stand, but at least the stands didn't lower on their own. For over a year they seemed to work well. Earlier this year, I noticed one speaker was tipping forward, and realized the other one was tipping forward as well, directing the sound slightly toward the floor. After some sleuthing, I found the mount for each speaker is attached inside the top post via friction, and the mounts had come loose and wouldn't keep the speakers upright. Unfortunately, the stands are outside the warranty period, so I'm rather stuck with them. Sure, they still hold the speakers up, but they should be directed at the listener rather than angled down.

The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is for 3 reasons: 1) The cables that come with the Vizio 5.1 surround system have a connector on the end, so you can NOT send the cable up through the base of the stands and up the pole to connect to the speaker. The speaker cable and stand poles are black, so I just colored a twisty tie black with a marker and tied the cable to near the base of the stand. 2) I have thick carpeting, so it was a little difficult to have the stands standing perfectly straight. 3) The speakers themselves just sit on the top of the pole on a small square base, so if bumped, they can fall off. They could be secured with some double stick tape if you are worried about them being bumped into, especially if you have kids or pets, but they are, in most cases behind your couch, or at least against a wall. These stands are adjustable, so that helps a lot also. There is a variety of hardware included, depending on the size of your satellite speakers, and the way you want to install them.

Searched for a pair of stands for the rear speakers of my recent Panasonic 1000 watt 5.1 Surround Sound theater in-a-box system. The rear speakers are very small, although rated for 125 watts each. They can be hung on the wall, or set on the TV cabinet or on stands. I chose these stands because they are very sturdy, the base is made like a microphone stand base, of metal. The telescoping shaft is very nice as it allows you to set the speaker height to your seating area. Package included a variety of attachment adapters for most speakers. You can fish the speaker wire through the base and shaft with a wire hanger if you are crafty, and retentive about excessive wire showing. I have an area rug between my TV stand and couch, which covers most of the wire running to the rear speakers, I like hardwire myself. Overall, this was exactly what I needed at a fair price, it was on sale. Make sure you get all the adaptors included, if you buy "open box".

I bought these speaker stands for my front surround sound speakers. The bases of the speakers are sturdy, heavy cast metal, they provide plenty of stability for even medium sized speakers. They are also adjustable to accommodate each individuals needs. The stands come with multiple different attachments to ensure the majority of speakers can be attached. The tubes are also hollow, with a hole in the top, which allow the user to hide the wire which keeps the look very clean. The stands are meant for smaller speakers, but I am using them with my front speakers on my Samsung HT-D6500 which are 13.5" tall. I have the the adjustable upper part turned around backwards because the attachment point on the speaker is at the top and the speaker is so long it was contacting the riser shaft. The stand still works perfectly, the base is heavy and stable enough to handle larger speakers even with the riser and the offset turned around backwards.

These speaker stands are all metal and have a weighted base assembly. I highly recommend using these for smaller cube type speakers. I attempted to use some Bose bookshelf units but the stands do not support larger speakers as they will very likely be falling over due to the base being too narrow to balance them. They are however perfect for smaller rear cube style surround speakers like the Bose 161 model speakers. I wouldn't recommend anything larger than these. These stands incorporate the speaker wires running inside the stand neck to give a clean finish look. Just don't use heavy thicker speaker wire. The diameter of the stand and the exit holes are limited, so consider 18 gauge speaker wire. They are of good quality and work perfect for the right size speaker and wire. The stand height provides enough clearance for speakers to clear the back of an average sofa, so for back surround applications it is fantastic.

I use these with my Energy Take Classic 5.1 speakers beside my tv stand. The bases are heavy cast iron with screw in spikes for carpet or pads for hard flooring. The plastic tightening clamp in the middle of the stands feels a little flimsy compared to the rest of the stand but if you dont go gorilla tightening them, they work fine. I used 14 ga. speaker wire and they hide nice inside the stands. comes with multiple brackets/hardwared for multiple mounting configurations. **NOTE** when running wire through them, feed from the top hole by the speaker, down the tube and out the base. If you try to push from the bottom up, you will unleash profanity you didnt know you had. Not quite tall enought to use behind couch, i used Atlantic wall mounts for satellite speakers. Sanus make the HT3B "hover" stands which are taller than these that would work great behind sofas.

I was looking for some corner shelves or something to put my Bose Soundtouch rear speakers on and these worked better than a shelf. The Bose speakers don't have a standard mounting hole and you have to buy a special bracket to put them on if you want to mount them usually. These speaker stands actually allow the wire to run up inside the pole. There are several options for setup. The setup I used was the flat plate on top of the pole with the double stick pad (included) on top to attach the speaker to it. Works great and you can't see the wire hanging down. This would be 5 stars but it was difficult to get the height adjusted on one of the stands. I would still strongly recommend them. Very happy with the purchase. Would go with them again if I needed to! Go ahead and get them.

The speaker stands look good, and are made of good quality materials. However, if you plan to hide your speaker wires by running them through the stand, have your speaker wire ready to run through the stand during assembly. The speaker stands have a curved section in the metal tubing that I could only run the speaker wire (16 gauge) through with the stand unassembled. The stands also come with some adapters and a few different types of screws to accomodate speakers with different mounting configurations. I gave durability a 4/5 because the adjustable part of the stands limit the amount of weight that can be held, and the piece that screws to lock the height is made of plastic. Other than the one plastic piece, everything else seems to be some type of metal. I mounted a pair of Insignia brand bookshelf speakers (model: NS-SP211) on these stands to use as the rear speakers in my 5.1 surround sound speaker system.

Very study speaker stands. Setup took a bit of time, but it was my first time setting up any sort of speaker stands. So keep that in mind for my review. I used this with the Vizio SB4051-C0 soundbar. It took me a bit to finally get the right setup to attach the speakers to the stand. At first I was a bit nervous, since the soundbar had JUST been in stock, and I was probably one of the early adopters, so there was no way of knowing whether or not it would for sure work with these speaker stands. However, they work almost perfectly. You can wire the speaker cables through the stand, however for these Vizio speakers, it could not be done. The jack is too big to fit through the stand, so I have it running down the side. Other than that, the stands are very sturdy. I have them on hardwood floors and have no problems with them.
