The ports work with the appropriate plugin cables. In a superficial sense I also like that the color matches my Macbook color.

The only negative so far is the old USB (USB A-B) ports are so snug that you basically need to remove the entire hub when switching out a cable. Not a huge deal but it does mean you probably can't change out one cable if another one is transferring data or if you are powering through the hub and it's crucial to remain plugged in. No problems so far with the USB-C or SD cards ports.
