I purchased 2 of these to expand my digital library. So far they are doing well, but, as I said above, I am hearing faint disk tinks occasionally which make me think I may be heading for a hardware issue soon. I have not seen any degradation in speed or performance so all is good for now but you can bet I am watching closely and backing up regularly... Great speeds on Mac side, not so good via parallels and the tools they provide but that could just be the drivers they provide and or the USB 3.0 Hub not working correctly in windows. Although Mac screams... Who knows, haven't had time to really dig in yet. Overall pretty happy with the size, space and speed, a bit pricey still considering the flood scare was a couple years ago now and drive space should be back down to reality... Cmon people, let's stop gouging folks in the digital age now...

This is my third Seagate Hard Drive. I have not had any problems with any of the Seagate Hard Drives and they are well built and sit flat instead of the two My Notebook Hard Drives that I also own. I was ripping my DVD collection to the Seagate 5TB Hard Drive and ended up running out of disk space, ended up purchasing the Seagate 8TB so I could have all my DVD collection on one Hard Drive. I play the movies I rip to the Hard Drive through our four iTv's. While the Samsung 4k Smart TV uses Smart View to watch movies from the Hard Drive.

I have bought this 8-T Backup Tape 2 months ago, and so far, I am satisfied! It's very big and I can backup almost everything, from my computer! I was able to create 2 partitions, one for all my data files including videos, and the other one for the system (C: drive)! I have room for a long time! The only trouble that I had during the system backup, was that it crashed my computer 2 or 3 times! It seems that I found the reason of this problem, having explanations from Google! If I want to backup the system, I can backup the C: drive, but not the D: drive! Now everything is OK! It's working like a charm!!!

I have two of these 8tb drives for my MAC PRO workstation. One for local storage and the other for weekly backup and off site storage using Carbon Copy as the image capture software of choice. Beats the high cost of a raid 1 array and forces you to make a backup of all your work for a truly elegant disaster recovery solution if you ever need it. And someday you will.

I purchased this item as a birthday gift for my husband and he absolutely loves it. He rants about how easy it is to use. In addition, you can't beat the price for the amount of storage offerred.

Used to distrust Seagate but they sure built them like a brick this time. No more detachable mounts, yee-haw. It will also spin down when not in use. I have a 3TB seagate that continuously spins, much to my frustration.

I was looking for an other hard drive for my Xbox one so I can expand the memory and this hard drive was easy to set up and format. I have loved seagate product's for years and I will continue to buy seagate product's.

It used to take multiple hard drives to store all my files and it was such an inconvenience needing all the power outlets and usb ports and the physical space to set them up and the weight of them if I wanted to transport them and trying to remember what files were on which drives. But finally I can fit EVERYTHING on this one drive and still have plenty of space left over! I also love the design of the case, it allows great airflow underneath so that the drive doesn't overheat as easily as other enclosures.

This 8TB drive is being used as a back for my 18TB NAS. I know that running xraid gives me redundancy if a drive fails. However, for my photos and documents I want a second safety net. If I lose movies, they can always be replaced. This drive has a USB 3.0, interface as does my NAS, so plugged directly to the NAS the transfer is extremely fast. I moved 5 TB in about 12 hours. I moved another 8 TB of movies to another machine across my 1ghz network. It took 5 days.

This extremely high capacity drive was easy to set up and is working very well. It is a higher capacity version of Seagate backup drives that I have enjoyed using the past few years. My ONLY reservation is that it occasionally makes noise that give me concern - probably needlessly, as it as performed reliably so far.

I have owned this expansion drive for several weeks and I am enjoying the size and the speed. I was using 3 smaller drives and I was able to transfer the data from those drives to this one without any glitches. The drive comes with software to help backup your computer. I use the drive connected to my laptop and I also use the drive with my television. I haven't had any problems and would recommend this drive to anyone looking to combine smaller hard drives onto one large drive.

Another great product from Seagate! Huge storage for all my videos, music and business documents. Very easy to setup!

This item was purchased as a replacement to the WD My Cloud 6TB External Hard Drive (NAS).....this gave me an extra TB of storage, simpler use (not cloud) and was $10 cheaper. No brainer. Works well too. Thanks!

I work in video production. So having extra storage space is essential. I use a thunderbolt to G-Tech raid for my work drive, but they are about $1200 for 12 TB. I wasn't going to buy another one of those, but I was running out of space on that drive. So I ended up buying this one! 250 bucks for 8 TB! Great deal! I wouldn't use it as a work drive because it isn't fast enough to edit video off of. But for backing up projects or anything else, it's fantastic!

The Seagate desktop application is used to back up social media content. I'm not using that application I just wanted to use it for an external hard drive to store my files. It took a couple visits to the Seagate website to figure out which application I need to download to make that work. It has a nice physical appearance and quite operation. Large capacity hard drive. Works with media files, photographs, videos and ALL TYPES OF FILES. Easy function as a dedicated Mac external hard drive. I had trouble getting the duel function for Mac & PC application to initiate correctly.

Works perfectly for my needs. It makes no noise and doesn't get hot. Plenty of space and easy set up!

The 8TB Seagate drive provides a hefty amount of storage in a desktop form factor. The price was very reasonable for a drive of that size, and the USB 3.0 interface provides a fast connection. Great for backups.
