This is the standard for SSDs. It was easy to hook up, and the speed is perfect for me. Loads fast, and with he 8TB, I am good to go for quite a while. And for the price, is a win. I thought about a m.2 but in the end this was the easier, cheaper, and still a solid, reliable option. Very satisfied.

I recently installed the Seagate Barracuda 8TB Internal Hard Drive, and it’s been a game-changer for my data storage and media center setup. This drive offers an impressive amount of space and performance, making it perfect for both large data storage needs and as a streaming box for media.
With 8TB of storage, there’s more than enough room for my entire media library, including movies, TV shows, and music. It’s also great for backing up important files and storing large datasets. The capacity ensures I won't run out of space anytime soon, and I can easily keep everything organized in one place.
The Barracuda drive is quick and reliable, providing smooth access to all my files without any noticeable lag. Whether I’m streaming content directly from the drive or accessing data, it performs consistently well. The installation process was straightforward, and the drive fits perfectly in my setup.
Overall, the Seagate Barracuda 8TB Internal HD is an excellent choice for anyone needing substantial storage for a media center or data backups. It offers generous capacity, solid performance, and reliability. Highly recommended for those looking to expand their storage with a dependable and high-capacity drive!

Bought two of these to complete a RAID-1 homebuilt OpenMediaVault low-power NAS. At idle with both drives the system uses only about 20 watts. Spinning noise is very quiet. Seek noise is a bit low/chunky. Some will depend on how much case you use. But it's not super obtrusive by any means. Performance is more than enough to outrun the LAN. Overall great price per unit storage. We'll have to see how they fare with time.

Bought this for my Movie Server.
Easy install, just snapped it into place and connected the cables.
On Windows 10, 64 bit, I did have to format the drive before it showed up, but followed the procedure on the Seagate website, did the 'quick' format and it took just a couple seconds.
Very quiet, don't hear it running at all.
It is only 5400 rpm, vs 7200 for the faster ones, but it's fast enough to feed movies thru my home network.
Only negative is that it didn't come with a user manual, but the Seagate website had info on installing/formatting.

Which thanks to youtube i was able to set it up wish i would of known i needed one though i wouldn't have had to make a second trip to buy one.

I use these for backups, but they are fast enough for most work as well. They are very reliable. quiet and don't ever get very hot and can run endlessly. Great value/ TB

It's a hard drive... It's large. It holds all the things and some of the stuff.

It's not secret that covid stop production of all thing. Once of those things are the hardware for computers. Seagate is a good brand that I trust for years due to it's durability based on my experience. I can't say the same for others, but I had no issue. I took advantage of the sale and installed it on my computer ASAP since it's prebuilt that came with 500GB SSD. Currently using this 8TB as a secondary, to install video games, project files for Unreal Engine, Unity, or coding files from Microsoft Visual Studio. There is a reason on my title say Purchase during Covid Pandemic. Apparently there is 30% defect among Seagate products and where I work, IT department confirmed Seagate Exos are among that 30% defects. I did mentioned that I have the Barracuda from Seagate but from his research I should be fine. Hopefully! Seagate factories have been shut for god knows how long due to covid, so imagine rushing and meeting the supply due to the demand. Fingers crossed!
