Not totally convinced that this is the NAS version of the drive. Unlike the picture on the BestBuy website which says "NAS" below "Iron Wolf", the one I received doesn't say "NAS" anywhere on it. It just says "Seagate" and "Iron Wolf", but not "NAS". That being said, the drive does seem to work fine in my NAS.

I built a NAS and use this in it. It works great! I have had no issues and plan on buying more to fill up all the bays I have. Great solution for file sharing!

Good quiet drives for my NAS system
I switched mfg's from WD since ransomware attacks WD just went through. Some of the product has been compromised and their not offering any additional clarification other than what you read in the news. Seagate has been making very dependable drives and Ill be replacing my others as needed.

I’ve been buying Iron Wolf drives fir yeas for my slow storage. They work well, and I know my data is safe because of the free data recovery plan that comes with them. I wouldn’t use anything else in my NAS.

I am using this drive in my home NAS. This has been running 24/7 since purchase without any issue. Read an write speeds have been fine with the 7200 rpm.
Although there is a high level of sound on the initial spin up, the drive stays quiet and cool from that point on.
This is my 3rd IRONWOLF NAS drive and i will continue to rely on them for all of my future NAS drives

I have 6 Ironwolf drives loaded in a QNAP TVS-x72XT. I have had them for over 86 days continuous. I have added over 10 TB in a raid 6. The health status is good on all drives, disk access good, disk I/O is good, smart information displays correctly, and daily/weekly check have all completed in good status.
As for noise issues - I don't see it as an issue. Some times you might hear what sounds like a water drop hitting a sink. The noise levels a definitely in the good level for in the office or on desk top. In my opinion.
Ahh.. Good enough for the job will probably be rep

This 8 terabyte Seagate Nas Drive fits well in the Seagate Raid system. However, I don't have the time to get the help to possibly. create multiple volumes on the Seagate Raid then. it's slow..
The odd thing about it is the four terabyte nas drives. from Seagate seemed to have a better aspect. to them for lasting longer and running a little bit faster.
Seagate does temp drop the ball a little bit every now and then like there three terabyte and 1.5 terabyte drives. I will not be upgrading. 232 gigabyte raid system. for media service. Obviously the smaller c. Seagate hard drives are still improvement over the larger ones in the NASA environment.
Now the question lies. who will be given their business? of being a leader in the raid systems or will raid vanish completely with these new 16 to 30 terabyte heat or gas backed storage systems?
So far, no failures just. slow downs near hits of failing. but then again, I'm using an eight terabyte As a 4 terabyte system. doesn't make sense for me to upgrade my. Seagate raid, which has lost support for its OS as well as its box..
I would recommend talking to people who have other types of raid systems to see if. plugging in Seagate nasses actually have. an advantage.

Great hard drive, hampered by poor business practices of Best Buy. They had these on a flash sale, but I could not order online. I chatted with Best Buy rep and he said they were sold out, yet an hour after the flash sale ended, they had plenty in stock again. Coincidence? I think not...
