These lasted for about a year and they sounded amazing and worked great besides the charging pins being finicky at best. The left ear bud dropped dead about a month ago, and just today my right one died out as well. Do not buy

I have one complaint that I’ll get out of the way. The case is big, maybe not gigantic and it may not bug you but it is significantly bigger than other earbuds, now what you get out of that is may be a trade off you willing for, I certainly am but if that is a major requirement before sound quality then just know that. Noise cancellation: Hands down the best I’ve used (First headset of this brand). I’m used to a very faint vibration that can bug me after awhile from noise cancellation. These, it was gone, not mostly gone, but just gone, it’s the first time I haven’t noticed it at all, I’ve used others that weren’t at a level that bugged me, but these are on a completely different level. So if you like me and can hear/feel noise cancellation, give these a go as they have become my favorite. Adaptive Noise: Depending on what you find important this isn’t the best, I turned it up to high in the app and it is still better, but it seems to want to prioritize music first, which normally I agree with but my five year old doesn’t come through that well and I end up pulling the headphone out, which may be better anyway so that he knows I’m giving him my attention, but that is a different story. As for everything else, it brings through voices quite well normally, but they aren’t super amplified like other brands, its more of a combination of noise cancelling and ambience accentuation. It will muffle something like a fan background noise, but background music comes through. I like it but it could use some improvement is the best way I can put it. But it is in the top two for adaptive noise for me. There are also three settings; off, on and anti-wind; all that do exactly what the setting name implies. Fit: There are several buds for different sized ears but the ones out of the box worked great for me and lock I nice and tight. Bluetooth Connectivity It doesn’t lose connection anywhere in my house (I have a 2700 two story house so not giant but not small). I can go out to the car, and it is still connected solidly. If my phone is in my back pocket, it still works. One time one of the buds didn’t connect, however just touching it made it turn on, it was at this point I realized it is extremely useful that both tell you they are on and connected individually. Also, they can be connected to two devices and switch between the two, however they don’t switch if one is active back to the other one. Which is exactly how it should be. So, no interrupted meetings for a phone notification if you have the connected to your phone and computer. Also, it supports two devices. Charging: The battery lasts forever it seems like. Sometime a big case doesn’t mean a big battery, in this case it does. It also supports wireless charging and worked on two different generic wireless chargers I have at my house. The earbuds themselves last for hours, longer than I can keep them in. Sound: There doesn’t seem to be much different in earbuds these days from low end to high end, you end up just paying for the name in the worst case or maybe noise cancellation, integration, or other features in the best case. If you are into lossless music these should be at the top of your list. It does make Spotify sound better but there is only so much you can work with there. Something like Tidal, amazon music, or Apple music that offers lossless or UltraHD or whatever they call it really allows these to shine I am absolutely in love the sound quality for size with these. One thing to keep in mind is your phone needs to support lossless music which, I believe apt x adaptive is the recognized lossless codec. The App: Usually the app isn’t anything special, however the amount of control it gives you over everything is amazing. The equalizer can be customized, there is a bass boost, a podcast setting, and a bunch of other presets that are pretty standard for good equalizer apps/settings. The podcast one is not standard from what I’ve seen in the past. It brings the voices out and makes them loud and clear, it makes up for sometimes not perfect recording settings that can be on YouTube or Spotify. Touch controls can be customized as well as auto pause for transparency and such. There is even a sound zones setting, I set the noise control to transparent when I get to work but I couldn’t change the equalizer to podcast sadly as that setting is helpful in meetings. The settings tab shows firmware updates, but even better there is an audio resolution as well it shows the Codec. There is a battery eco setting that I don’t have on as audio quality is more important to me, but I did turn on battery protection mode which prevents charging to 100% and slows down charging, I still don’t have any issue with running out of power after making these changes. Overall: For truly wireless ear buds deliver an amazing experience in audio. If you are going to keep the bit rate at low, data saver one, and so one that degrades the audio experience, these may not deliver the value that they could. If you are interested in utilizing these to their full potential, I believe they provide an awesome value.

“In the running” for best overall earbuds…

As an Android user, I have tried out quite a few pairs of earbuds over the years. Maybe that is good, maybe that is bad. Some good, some, well, not. With that said, I think I can easily say these are among the best I have used. Design-wise, I like the look. Simple. Clean. Mostly muted. They seem well-built, and I think they should hold up over time. As for fit, which honestly to me is one of the most important aspects for buds like these, they fit me very well. Of course, this is a very personal thing, but they do provide 4 sizes of silicon ear tips as well as 3 sizes of silicone fins. You will just have to see, but I think most people should be good here. They fit me well, they are comfortable, and they stay in my ears. Zero issues. As for the sound? I think they can stand toe to toe with all of the other “best” buds, and maybe for some people, be the best. There are some deep, bumpy lows, clean mids, and crisp, but not piercing highs. Overall, I think the sound just has a nice richness to it. Perhaps different than some of the other buds around, but I think they sound great. I should add pretty much out of the box. Of course, I do think you should spend some time in the app dialing them in for your tastes. I am not the biggest user of noise cancelling, and even less so any kind of pass-through type modes, but I was pretty satisfied with what they did here. I think the ANC is fairly good, maybe a notch higher, but I’ve probably had some better. It definitely does the job, but I think some of the higher end sounds got through just a bit. Not a deal breaker for me, just something to note. Transparency mode worked well. Pairing was simple. It just works. It has also been rock solid for me. Connectivity overall seems to be something they put some thought into. Up to date Bluetooth specs, and while I do not see the uses for the Auracast support yet, after looking into it, it does seem interesting. Anyway, “anything” forward looking is appreciated in this space. To piggyback off of that thought, it is also there in the battery. So far, I am very happy with the battery life. It has been as advertised, and I don’t think it will be an issue going forward. That said, there is an option for a “battery health mode” that caps charging in both the case and the buds to 80-90% This is more or less known in the battery world to be the best way to maintain the life of your batteries and given the size and non-replaceable nature of the batteries in these buds, I think it is an outstanding feature. Frankly, I am not sure if any other manufacturer is doing this. Time will tell about this feature, as well as the batteries more generally, but I am pretty confident going in. That said, there is one “issue” charging wise, and it’s kind of the elephant in the room with these buds (and has been for some time). The charging case. To be clear, I kind of really like the look, the fabric like material looks great (and I think will hold up), it snaps nice, has wireless charging, AND it does the job it is made to do. It is just….big. Honestly, it is not a deal breaker for me, but it is a little noticeable, something to note, and could be an issue for some people. Briefly, their App is a little basic, but provides a nice level of customization. As I mentioned earlier, go in and hit the EQ, but you can also control ANC, touch controls, codecs, set up zones, etc. I will add, I am not the biggest user of touch controls, and while I like what they offer here, I did find myself activating some stuff when I did not mean to fairly often when simply brushing or adjusting the buds in my ears slightly. Ultimately, I really do like these buds. Quite a bit. I do have a minor thing here or there I perhaps wish were different, but they are all minor. In the end, they sound fantastic, fit me well, comfortably, look good, and have great battery life. I like that Sennheiser also did some forward thinking with these buds and I hope they keep that in mind with regards to support down the road.

    MOMENTUM to be the best!

For my review of the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 Earbuds, I want to simply state right away that these are some of the best sounding earbuds I have ever listened to. Like most earbuds, it does require some customization using an app on your smartphone. But even straight out of the box, I liked the sound immediately and once I changed some settings, I can’t get over how great they sound. Once the app “Sennheiser Smart Control” was installed on my iPhone, I was immediately alerted to a firmware upgrade. From there I was treated to all kinds of customizable features, including noise cancellation, transparency level, touch control, a fit test, sound zones, and finally, My Sound. My Sound gives you the option to use either an editable standard 5-band equalizer or something called “Sound Personalization”. After some experimentation, I chose to use Sound Personalization. Apparently, this might be a feature that came with a recent update as I was unable to find much documentation about it. Basically, you move a cursor around a 2-dimensional grid diagram until you find a sound stage that appeals to you and save. I found placing the dot in the lower right quadrant worked best for my ears. Once set up with the Smart Control app, the sound coming from these earbuds is amazing! The bass and drums are tight and punchy but not distorted or boomy, and the mid/high frequencies are crisp and clear but not harsh. Hard to believe such sounds are possible from something so small. It makes me anxious to listen to my favorite songs as it brings them all to new life. I enjoy a wide range of music from Aerosmith to ZZ Top and with the latest lossless Bluetooth quality, I am blown away by how good everything sounds. I am not technically an audiophile, but I am an avid music listener and I really like what I hear from these Sennheiser earbuds. The earphones themselves are beautifully designed and come in an elegant fabric-covered case which is rechargeable using either a provided USB-C cable or you can use wireless charging. The earbuds come with several ear tips to fit every ear. I found the ones it came with fit perfectly. There are LED lights on each earbud that provide status information as well. I found an additional use as I dropped an earbud on the carpet in the dark and was able to locate it immediately because of the LED light. I find the fit to be very comfortable and have no complaints after wearing the earbuds for several hours. Touch controls are simple and easy to learn by reading the manual once, but controls can be customized should you not like how they are configured. I am not one to make use of all the available features like low latency audio, noise cancellation and Auracast, but these earbuds have all the latest technology and more. I’ll leave that for others to discuss, I need to get back to listening to some Emerson, Lake and Palmer!

The case design feels very premium. The fabric look is unique and durable. Charing is over usb type c, or wireless. I do with the case were a big slimmer to make it easier to put in pockets. The included wing tips help to keep the earbuds in place, and are very comfortable. Everybody has different ears, and there are several tips and wings included in the package. The adjustments in the app allow you to create a custom sound just for you, or use some prebuilt selections in the app. Music and podcasts sound very natural with no distortion. They make all different types of music sound great. The active noise cancellation is great with two modes, wind or adaptive. The adaptive cancellation worked really well in a room with a loud fan. The transparency mode works well and can be adjusted in the app. The microphone works great for phone and zoom calls. In a semi-loud room or outside with wind they performed well and I could be heard by others without any problems. You can connect to multiple devices at the same time, which has worked will when using a laptop and phone. The earbuds easily switched between devices as needed. The earbuds support AuraCast and should help to future proof these earbuds. This will be coming in a firmware update. Battery life is 7.5 hours, 30 hours of charge in the case. IP54 water and dust resistance are nice to have. I have used Sennheiser over ear head phones for years, and these wireless earbuds are a great addition. The combination of fit, design, sound and microphone quality, noise cancellation, and transparency mode make these the perfect daily use ear buds. There is nothing missing here, making them the best earbuds I have used to date.

Right out of the bix, both buds are defective. Charged it right away, buds do not “activate” or turn on. Tried troubleshooting and researching for an extended amount of time. Found similiar issues but generally limited to one bud. They basiclaly have no customer serice to get ahold of either. Definitelt highly dissapointes.

These make Airpods look like cheap knockoffs. The case is a nice hard plastic case wrapped in a nice premium feeling textured fabric. There is a USB-C charging port on the front, with a status LED next to it. Honestly I kind of wish the USB port was on the back, but really at the end of the day it's kind of inconsequential. The case is magnetically held closed, and feels nice and secure. When it's open, it is held open and doesn't get in the way when trying to take the earbuds in or out. You put them in your ear and rotate back slightly to secure them in place. Earbuds are something I've almost always found to be uncomfortable, especially for extended periods of wear. These, while on the more comfortable end of the spectrum, I still found to be uncomfortable after wearing for an hour or two, but that's not terribly surprising for me. I did try the different sized earcups and the ones that came fit best. It also comes with different sized "fins", which are silicon rings around the earbuds that help secure the buds in your ear. You really need to install the Sennheiser smart connect app to get the most out of these. In the app you can control the nose cancellation (On, anti-wind, off), "transparency" level, customize touch controls, and a fit test (to ensure the earbuds are well fit in your ear). You can adjust the EQ in the app, including turning on Bass Boost (which I recommend). I also recommend going into the settings, and setting the audio resolution to "high resolution" or "Lossless". it defaults to standard, which may help bluetooth range, stability and the battery life of the earbuds, but if you're listening to high quality audio you'll notice the difference. The app also has other battery settings to prolong playtime by disabling power-hungry aptX codec, but also to protect the battery health by slowing down charging and limiting the maximum charge. Unless you use these all day everyday, turning on battery protection mode is probably a good idea. Audio quality and noise cancellation are great. Still not as good as over-ear headphones, but among the best I've ever used. I've been using them for a couple hours a day for the last 2-3 days, and the case battery is still at 80%, so I'm really not concerned about battery life at all. Really it's hard to find any fault with these, except maybe comfort as I mentioned before.

    Nice upgrade from Momentum 3

The Momentum True Wireless 4 are a nice upgrade from the version 3. The sound output seems about on par but the improvement comes in the noise cancelling. While using them at work most of the jibber jabber in the background became whispers and the drone of some of the machinery was almost non-existent. It handles steady sounds better than varying sounds. The audio quality is top notch, which I'd have expected from Sennheiser. The only problem creeps up in bass heavy tracks with long base lines. A Tribe Called Quests "Vibes and Stuff" is what I always use to test how muddy the sound can be at max volume. Not many headphones pass the test and the Momentums are one that didn't. Now, I never use maximum volume so it's actually a non-issue, but still a test I like to run. Tweaking the EQ and the bass was manageable at max with clean mids and highs coming through. One compliment to Sennheiser is that the don't force you to make an account to access the settings of you buds so many companies seem to make you do. You have the option to sign up and it's only required if you want to run the test to have the app personalize your sound based on your hearing and ear shape. I usually tweak things myself and never touch the apps again so not having to open accounts is a huge plus. The buds fit extremely secure and tight. The default tips sealed my ears so well there's a bit of suction when removing. The downside is that my left ear starts hurting after a few hours. It's no fault of the Momentum 4's, but more to do with the shape of my left ear canal. Most headphones that use your outer ear to apply pressure to keep them secure puts just a bit too much pressure for my left canal. My right never has any issues. So this isn't an Momentum issue, but my own body issue. Just mentioning it if there are others with issues with buds that apply a little pressure for fit. Right now it's a toss up on which iem's I own that are my favorite. The Momentum has better noise cancelling but my other pair doesn't cause any discomfort. The Momentum would leave me less worried about them falling out where my other set has come out when I get sweaty a couple times. So I'm torn on which will become my daily driver. Kinda leaning towards the Momentums because of the audio quality and the noise cancelling.
