This is a tale of magic and sorcery with witches and demons. It stars Jeff Bridges as the old mentor on a mission to destroy evil. When his current apprentice is killed, Bridges enlists the seventh son of the seventh son as his new apprentice to help destroy an evil witch played by Julianne Moore. Though this movie is hardly a feather in any of the Academy winning actors who are in the movie--which now includes Alicia Vikander--it is nevertheless, a good escape for fans of demons and supernatural action films. Jeff Bridges is especially effective as the grizzled old mentor.

This movie received mediocre reviews from Movie Critics... but I thought it was actually good. Hey, it's a fantasy, action-packed, dungeons & dragons-type of movie... complete with witches, warriors, and lots of magic. It's not meant to be one of those films that wins a bunch of Oscars; it's simply intended to be mindless entertainment, which it succeeds in being good at. So watch this movie if that's what you're looking for.

This is one of those movies that all the critics are quick to put down because it is a fantasy movie. We love to watch fantasy films, so we decided to give this one a try and we were pleasantly surprised. It has action, monsters, and Jeff Bridges with his always-on-time comedic chops. Julianne More is great as the bad witch, and Alicia Vikander is gorgeous as a young witch.

This was a good but not great movie. With Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore on board it should have been great but never quite got to that level. However I still enjoyed the movie. The visiuals were great and it was entertaining to watch. Overall it was fun to watch. I pre ordered from Best Buy and picked up in store on the release day. Recommended.

Some people will be put off by Jeff Bridges voice, but don't let it ruin an otherwise good fantasy movie. It is nothing groundbreaking plot wise, but the CG effects are stellar and the acting is great for the genre. There is a little part in the beginning with Jon Snow too, so there's that. Worth the $20.

Jeff Daniels and Marianne Moore put forth good performances. Unfortunately the other actors are less than moderate. Don*t exxpect any humor because the other actors aren*t even decent straight men. Good gtapghics and imaginitive script. Better than Malificent but not a Sorcerer*s Apprentice..

This movie was better than I had expected it to be based on other reviews. The special effects were very good, and how could you not like Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore? The apprentice and the daughter were also very likeable characters. Decent action and settings. A fun evenings entertainment.

this movie is good, I like that it has all kinds of different creatures and the graphics and scenery is good It has a little bit of humor the plot of the movie is ok , but Jeff bridges mumbles a little bit to much during the movie its hard to understand what he is saying sometimes .

They kept pushing the release date back for this movie, which, in my opinion, caused it to do poorly due to lack of advertising, etc. I really liked this movie. If you like witches, warriors, fantastical beasts and good special effects, then you will probably not be disappointed.

The story line was heavily supported with some great cast members. The typical good versus evil scenario of gothic horror with a few twists. Just goes to show that with good actors you can be "sucked" into making fantasy appear as a believable and reality based story line.

This story is about a young man who has powers that were manifesting themselves as he was getting older. One day a man came to take him away to show him his true purpose in life. The man asked him questions about his visions and proceded to teach him what he should know to fight evil. Evil came in the form of a powerful witch that was imprisoned,but broke free.Full of rage she had a diabolical plan to rule. Believe it or not love blossoms in this movie. A final confrontation occurs between The Teacher,the Witch and the young Apprentice. You will just have to buy the movie to see who wins the confrontation. This is one of those mid evil movies that just has the hero start off killing witches and then continues too. I like it, wasn't what I expected but it was pretty good. Full of action, etc... the story does move along a little quick but overall the movie is fun.

I think this product is good, I got the DVD ,and digital download, for buying this blue-ray ,version of the seventh son. This movie also had a five dollar discount for early buying at best buy store, this movies was available at Best buy thanks Best buy.

What an enjoyable movie. Jeff Bridges steals the show he is so funny convincible and always puts in a fantastic acting effort into his character. Julianne Moore is also very convincing as the evil Queen. The movie has a great medieval feel great fighting scenes great visuals and special effects excellent performances scary parts with unexpected humor. Jeff Bridges plays Gregory a person who goes around and destroys or captures evil spirits and witches and he gets an assistant it was always a Seventh Son. Good story good effects I hope they'll be a sequel.

Some tired old witch hunt with a top cast but jeff bridges looks as tired as the national highway system and sounds like he has a mouth full of marbles. the effects are lacking and the story grows weary, but worth a peak, wait for tv.

This is a pretty cool movie. I don't know if it's just me but it does seem kind of short. I'm sure there was a lot more to it before it hit the cutting room. But still has adventure, action and some cool dragons. Give it a watch.

This was a fun romp. I thought Julianne Moore made a great villainess and of course the story was a bit predictable - but fun! Sword and sorcery I wish it were more in depth and such. Loved Jeff Bridges in this one!

I enjoyed the fun story which was enhanced by the special effects. If you like a nice little fantasy, costume/period film, you will enjoy this. If you are a Ben Barnes fan, then you HAVE to see this. He is such a cutie!

Just because we are dealing with demons and creatures from the underworld that doesn't mean that the background of the final moments in the battle between life and death has to be that dull or with no sunlight.

Good escapist fiction BUT some of the dialog was difficult to understand. Jeff Bridges overplayed the accent a bit much. Good visuals and entertaining!
