Sound, Picture and Power ON
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I gave a 3 star mainly because of the sound quality, it is not great. However, I am planning on buying a surround sound system, which I hope that would make the sound much better. The picture was not as sharp as I wish and I attempted to reset the sound quality, but that did not make any difference. Every time, you power up, you must select where you wish to see. Ex: Regular TV, internet or cable. I really wish it would just power up on the previous mode when I power down. I recommend this TV for very young kids.

Horrible tv

The remote never works to turn the tv on and it turns off randomly by itself. Of course i got it replaced and the new one does the same thing. We had a samsung and the picture on this is horrible in comparison. The only thing good about it was the price but i guess you get what you pay for.

Defective Screen Color
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hate to bring the ratings down. This TV is actually a great product when it is not defective. The resolution and user controls are simple, fast and great. The price for a 55" smart tv is a steal for $250. And Sharp does has a great reputation. However, after a week or two of purchasing this from Black Friday deal, I notice slight blue discoloration was starting to develop where the contrast is blue to picture quality. I thought it was a cable connection issue but now the picture quality is just down right awful since I cant distinguish faces. Good thing Best Buy has a great return policy and even with no box, the allow a return or exchange. I would've given a lesser rating if it weren't for this.

Loses functionality with external speakers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This TV provides reasonable value, but I was disappointed that it loses functionality when connected to external speakers (such as the SONOS Playbar I am using for surround sound) using an optical cable. Although it is possible to use the volume buttons of the Sharp remote control to raise, lower, and mute volume, they don't fully function - the volume bar doesn't come on screen (so you can't see how high or low the volume is set) and the closed captions don't come on when you hit mute. Regarding the TV as a whole, the colors that come standard are horribly bright, but you can tone them down with the advanced settings. The Roku function is nice (but a bit slow), and there is a noticeable lag when changing antenna channels that is annoying when you are surfing.

Sharply Different
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sharp used to make good televisions, but they sold the TV brand to Hisense, so this is really a re-branded Hisense TV. It was on sale and it's worth what I paid, but it's not the Sharp quality I remember. The speakers are on the back, so if it's not mounted on a wall to reflect the sound, you will need a sound bar to hear clearly.

BUYERS BEWARE!

Not even a month after unboxing, the power board blew. I'm a very understanding consumer, when issues are resolved in a timely manner, but deeply disappointed when I get the run-around from Customer Service. I was bounced back and forth between Sharp and The Geek Squad for weeks, and told that a repair man had to unsuccessfully "try" to fix the television "3 times" before they could issue a replacement. It's unfair that his brand new gift has to come with so much wait time. Why should Pop have to be without a television while they wait for parts, reschedule repair dates, and try to bring the TV back to life. Why should he be stuck with a TV that they are REFURBISHING right before his eyes? That kills me! Had I known the policy, I wouldn't have chosen Sharp/Best Buy. I'm up north and he's down south so the only thing I can do is visit multiple sites and warn customers not to make the buying decision that I did. Find a place that will resolve your issue with urgency.

Bought 2 and both broke down

But that's the problem, WHEN it worked. The picture went out and had a blank screen about 5-6 months after i got get. Had it replaced with same tv. Just a lemon right? Wrong! The next one same thing no picture and no sound. It made it to 1 year and 5 months. The part/parts to fix it they don't make anymore ! That's enough for me 2 out off 2. No way I won't buy a Sharp again!

Very good product and good BF price

Anyway, i do not need that much resolution either. Only concern (something unclear) is that the speaker sound is a little too small even though i turn volume to 100 (max.). Not sure there is any way to further turn up the sound?

Picture size?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.BEFORE I return it... its a 55 inch TV but with the grey bars above and below it's no bigger than my 40in TV. Only way to remove is to zoom but then you lose a lot of the picture. Is there a way to remove the bars and watch in regular full screen? The upper and lower part only show a picture when I'm in guide mode or switching channels. It's probably going back this weekend. I messed with the settings and it about to give up. May stop by store and ask questions but for the price it appears to have been too good to be true.

Dead pixel on opening, will update if I can replac

I have a sound system hooked up so I don't know how good the speakers are. But the TV arrived with a dead pixel. If Best Buy has more and lets me swap it out and the new TV isn't also broken, I will update this review. Until then, it's a defective TV.

Not Great

I'm guessing the 5 star "review" that came in conveniently before the TV went on sale for Black Friday is a bogus review authored by Best Buy. Do a comparison in store - if it's weaknesses are not that important too you, pick it up. My guess is, they won't have one actually set up on display so you can compare,

Difficult and freezes

It was very difficult to get the picture settings so that the whites werent completely washed out. Once I got one of the inputs looking normal, I turned to another input only to find out, I had to do all the settings all over again. Each and every channel requires the settings to be changed. On top of that, after day 3, it now freezes and restarts the TV at least once a day. Its getting returned tomorrow.

Totally died

After about a year and half, I started to notice a dark horizontal bar across the top of the screen that got more and more noticeable. Then the screen went black all together. It turns on, I can push buttons on the remote and hear that it is responsive but there is no picture. Didn't even last two years.
