It is a smart TV and my father has just been introduced to Netflix. The only gripe is that the sound seems to go out for half a second randomly while on Netflix.

I owned a 55" Sharp Aquos prior to buying this larger version and it was a solid quality, amazing tv. This larger version has given me nothing but problems. Less than 60 days from purchase the motherboard blew out. I had it replaced under the 1 year warranty, but subsequently the sound will go out with the only option to fix is to unplug the tv for 30 seconds and then plug it back in. Not something that a brand new tv should need. Lately, the built-in Netflix app crashes the tv. Save yourself a hassle, choose a different brand for this size tv,
