I have been waiting for an uprade from 40" inch since last one year and has been on the market researching all the different TVs out there. Glad I waited until now, or else I would have settled for 60" lcd probably, instead of a massive 70" lcd-led. I fell in love with this TV when I first saw it in BJs store (the 2d version) few months ago (but I purchased it from Best Buy two weeks ago) . Even at this size, the picture clarity of this TV was outstanding and stood out when you compare the other TVs kept side by side. The color management system (CMS) feature is great allowing you to better calibrate the color. The standard factory presets are good enough to use this TV right out of the box without any additional settings. I normally use the "standard" option in the picture settings menu (AV mode). With the additional yellow pixel, I feel the colors range has expanded further. The black level is very good and comparable to plasmas. 240 hz refresh rate is another big add-on on this 3d TV especially for fast action scenes.. The 3d glasses has 3d and 2d option which allows some to watch in 3d and others in 2d at the same time (of course you can switch off 3d mode and everyone can watch in 2d without any glasses).. I have a high end surround system, so never bothered to check out the TV's sound box. and I am sure that no TV can match the sound of a dedicated surround system. One more thing, the built in wifi is a great feature-less cables to deal with.

I After searching for what seems like 2 months I finally settled on the Sharp 70" 3D LED and ask me if I am happy... hell yes. Why? The image was 10x better than any display I had seen in store at Best Buy. Right out of the box everything seemed calibrated correctly and smooth. In Best Buy I was comparing this tv with a 60" Samsung, and as the Samsung definitely had the better overall picture but this Sharp was no slouch. What had me scared was that the skin tones on the Sharp had white skin looking very tan in comparison to the Samsung that was right next to it in display. NONE OF THAT is happening with my purchased Sharp, the picture is one word, astounding. While watching Phantom Menace, which I truly dislike out of the entire Star Wars series, I was pleased as punch to see the colors and detail in all its glory. This 70 inch LED had me smiling because I was cautiously optimistic that this set could deliver. Now I can throw caution to the wind, I am more than happy, this was exactly what I am looking for. For the price, which it is competitively priced against 60" Sony's and Samsungs, it is a fantastic buy. Since size was my main sticking point, this set does the job and it does it well. Watched TRON Legacy in 3D, looked fantastic!!! Watched HD channels with 2D to 3D and although not as high in quality as a 3D movie it certainly works. PS3 games come to life in 3D. At this size, you notice every detail, every color, all this with no blur or ghosting. I recommend this set to any who have doubts. For the price you can't go wrong!

I was looking for a TV with WOW factor. This set certainly has it. I purchased on a Friday afternoon and had it completely installed and set up in only a few hours. The picture quality is excellent with just a few tweaks. The sound is okay for TV speakers but hooked to a sound bar it is excellent. I purchased 3D glasses online and had to wait a few days to check out how the 3D looked. The glasses finally arrived and the 3D is awesome. My kids said it was better than watching the same movies in the theater. I am super impressed with the Internet capabilities. Super easy to set up to my wireless network and upgrading the firmware was a breeze through the Internet connection. The weight of the TV is very low (93 lbs) which made it easy to mount on an articulation wall mount so we could move the TV to the exact spot for perfect 3D watching. Overall I am very happy with the purchase and would do it again if I had another chance!!

    Nice 70 inch set

At this size of screen the quality of content matters. Blu rays which are expertly mastered are beautiful thing; after 15 discs, there are two which struggle with black levels and motion blur. The third Transformers disc was demo shown to family. Blew them away. Solid performance on HD channels via satellite. A lot of screen image controls help.3d is very nice and haven't been a fan of that gimmick from Hollywood studios. 3D animation films and Tron look really great for in-home. Nice that a Sharp 3d blu ray player and 2 3D glasses come with in current promotion along with reduced pricing as this model going on six months old. Off angle viewing limits seating for maximum picture quality. I went from a 50" Sony projection set to this and Believe it was the right thing to do.

    Awesome high definition picture quality

We love the color definition and picture sharpness available on this large screen model. We thought we might lose some quality upgrading from a 58 in to the 70in but that is definitely not the case. We are still tinkering with the 3D capability as we needed to change both the receiver and the set of Baluns to accommodate the remote media center which is 55 feet away and stores all of our CD, IPod, DVD, BluRay, etc equipment. This is not a issue If you plan on connecting your BluRay/3D player directly to the TV. We are extremely happy with this product's quality. Access to Internet through wireless is a bonus!

I am anxiously awaiting this 70" 3D flat screen TV to be available at Best Buy. I wanted to be the first to provide a review and comment but in waiting I will say that I am very excited over this TV and cannot wait to get it. I currently have a 72" rear projection and am done with changing lamps and cooling fans. I leave my TV on all night and mostly all weekend so that rear projection just cannot take that. This LED (mostly LED) TV should be able to handle that I am told. It is very troubling that Best Buy will not state when this 3D model will be available and just say that it is coming. In addition I anticipate that some extras will be thrown in like a Blue-ray player and glasses but we shall see. Hurry up Best Buy and make this TV available so I can get ready for the NFL and a little NASCAR also goes a long way as well to a pleasant Sunday afternoon on the Big screen.

I actually had to buy this TV elsewhere because Best Buy doesn't have it available yet! The picture is great! I used to have a 60" LCD, but had to get rid of it when I saw the 70" available. Hands down, one of the best pictures I've seen. The Quattron technology is great! Sharp really did a great job with this! The only thing I was suprised about was the tiny screw holes in the back of the TV that are used to hang it on the wall. They are so small, that it seemed scary thinking they could support the weight of this TV on the wall. The speakers aren't great, but I assume if you have this size of TV, you'll have some type of surround sound attached to it. The 3D glasses are somewhat pricey, but can be found elsewhere for a little less money. When the Superbowl is broadcast in 3D, I'll have to have a BYOG party (bring your own glasses...)

95% + Uppers: Since 1996 we have experienced 40' to 46' television screens in our home. This Sharp TV is truly 70 inches of pure viewing pleasure! The 240 Hz - High Definition crystal clear picture puts a sporting event or movie right into your living room. It is so easy to add components like DVD recorders, game players, etc. and to stream from the internet via computer to the TV screen. Viewing old family photos, slides and videos (taken directly from the computer) in a life size TV format is an exciting experience for us. ****************************** 5% Downers: (1) Will not swivel on its base - must pick up TV and move to have access to rear plug ins! (2) Changing the View Mode or the Input Mode automatically changes the cable channel back to 0!

    Absolutely incredible television

This is by far the best technology purchase we have made this year! Ten days was quoted for in-store pickup and it arrived in five. Being a larger male with an even larger ego I was able to manhandle this thing out of the truck, into the house, onto its side for stand installation, and onto the table all by myself. Setup was as simple as it gets. I was replacing an HD set already so all I had to do was hook up power and one HDMI cable. Following the onscreen setup it took about ten minutes to get everything how we wanted it, including the wireless Internet connection. The picture is vivid and almost appears 3D even in 2D mode. The matte finish helps reduce the glare we've noticed on other models, specifically plasmas. We did turn off the optical sensor for lighting levels as the screen was a bit too dark for our room. Oh, and a big shout out to Best Buy for the 36 month no interest financing. The guys at the Cascade Station store in Portland were very helpful and listened to what we wanted, offered their opinions, and then helped us choose what was right for us.

Just set up this TV.... and what I have learned so far is AWESOME... The clarity of 2D is incredible... almost like you are there..... 3D is incredible too.....although I find a very limited amount to content available. I can't wait until technology provides more selection for 3D viewing.... but for now am very happy with my purchase. M

Best overall choice in 70" class

We needed to replace one this size and the Sharp was the obvious choice for the money as it is fully featured and compares favorably to the Elite for half the price. The TV is 240Hz so fast motion is not a problem and the picture through Cox Cable is crystal clear and well balanced right out of the box. It's also easy to fine tune the picture to your personal tastes if needed. I upgraded to a 3D receiver, added a 3D BluRay, changed from the MX3000 to the Logitech Harmony 900 universal remote and Geek Squad had everything up and running within 2 hours. I feel comfortable that this TV will remain technologically competitive for many years.

    Great, great TV

Excellent in every respect, EXCEPT -- the sound from the TV speakers is not synchronized with my sound system. There is a "reverb/stadium" effect strong enough to stop me from using both. The Magnolia specialist at Best Buy told me that that is inevitable, and one should never use both systems at the same time, and should use the better sound system only. But, I prefer to be able to use both; I think the "blend" often provides a better, more balanced and even sound. I'll try an analog connection, and see if that can bypass the HDMI audio connection; but, can't say yet. Other than that, it's a truly terrific TV. Highly recommended. BTW, the extremely negative review by bigdaddy11111, below, should be heavily discounted. Every big company that sells stuff to young people will hire recent college grads to "monitor" the "social network", and put plugs in for their products. A lot of those kids will go beyond that, and will attack any competitors' products. Half a dozen things about that review just do not "ring true", to anyone who has actually bought and seen one of these sets.

This is a great TV. After reading the reviews on the 70" tvs, I am glad I purchased the 240 hz model. Great picture. Anyone looking to go with the 70", spend the money and buy the 240 hz. You will benefit in the long run.

    The right TV

This tv was planned for in advance, don't impulse buy it. A corner of the 22' x 24' room was built out to mount it on to give the best viewing I could for it. My closest viewing is at an angle and at 10' in which it still gives a great picture. My current connections are Direct TV HD, Blue Ray DVD (LG BD670), and Apple-TV. I have had no issues with picture quality using these devices since all provide the needed input but when I first viewed this TV on the showroom floor it was on basic cable and the image closer then 15' was very grainy. Audio is good but as with any large TV in a large room will need to have an up grade. I went with the Bose Cinemate GS II since this was not a Home Theater set up and surround sound was not the goal, just good quality sound. (Bonus feature the Bose remote will operate Sat., TV, DVD and many others including menu options). With a little planning this TV will wow you with a great picture, easy set up and tons of hook up options.

This TV is everything I wanted and more...its BIG, has a great picture, and the 3D is amazing! The 3D glasses are pricy, but so worth it to have the active vs passive 3D. And the Geek Squad guys did a great job installing, connecting, and customizing everything for me.

We originally purchased a 60" model but found it looked too small in our living room. Went back and got the 70" model and arranged to have it setup on wall. Different story on the mounting installation! A lot of good features on this tv. did not get the 3d glasses yet but we did receive the 3d blu ray player at n/c. Super picture as of today but have the calibration setup by the Geek squad for later in the month.

Overview Sharp AQUOS Quattron / 70"

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Set up was a challenge addition assembly required. Called Sharp to help with glitches initial set up and programing, they were very helpful. In the store 3D looks great in the store but using that feature does not look impressive at all when used to make normal programing look like 3D. It does not give the depth you would expect with 3D programing. But the cable service I use has limited 3D programing that provides a picture you would expect from that new format. The competition that is a 55" gives 4 3D glasses Sharp says it gives you two that are suppose to come with your purchase, they are not free but I learned I was charge for them in my purchase price. They should offer at lease 4 for free. LED sometimes causes the colors to bleed into each other particularly blacks and blues. But the Yellow lives up to the its selling point for this brand and model. Sound is fair, I have plasma a Japanese model, but the Sharp AQUOS sounds can't come close "Slimness" should not be an excuse for fair quality speakers given the technology that's available. Over all the picture processing speed is great it shows imperfections in movie filming revealing jerking unstable camera movements missed before. The size of the picture grabs the attention of our guest.
