Angus and his wife Lillian are running an "on-the-road" Freak Show. They make a living out of making people believe that they have real "freaks". On the last day of their stay before hitting the road and moving to a new location, they get an old man who comes and sees Lillian acting as though she were a mermaid. The Freak Show was closing, and Angus kicked him out. When everyone was ready to go, Lillian left the tent and ran in to the man. He told them that he thought that she had "Really found a mermaid" and he came to warn Angus of the dangers. Just thinking that the old man was drunk, Lillian offered to drive the old man home, aside from Angus's silent protests. When they arrive at the old man's house, they see that the old man is very wealthy. When they are asked to come in, they hear wild tales of mermaids and how his wife watched the mermaid and took notes on what she did. He claimed that the mermaid had killed and eaten his wife. Sensing that the couple was disbelieving of his story, his took them down to see the mermaid, a lovely topless mermaid. After leaving, Angus could not get over the fact that he wanted a REAL mermaid for their Freak Show, so him and some of the other actors from the Freak Show broke in later that night. Holding one of the intruders at gun point, the old man told them that the mermaid was evil, but Angus held the old man at gun point and told him to put his gun down. The old man started to have a heart attack and died a few moments later. Grabbing the mermaid, they head to the boat and out on the ocean without the captain's knowledge of an extra passenger. And for a good reason- "it is bad luck for a mermaid to be aboard a captain's boat". The movie has a great plot and the ending is not as you would expect. This is a great movie and for the price, it's definitely worth you trying out.
