Simple, Reliable Leak Detection
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I installed this sensor last weekend and bought the sensor because I keep getting leaks at the guest bathroom sink and want to find and fix them quickly. The rope sensor means I can detect leaks over a much larger area AND don't have to worry about the sensor iteslf getting wet. This allowed me to put the sensor at a low spot beside the guest bathroom sink and slso run the sensor behind and beside the toilet. I have to say how surprised I am. I have low expectations for smart home products. Over the last 20+ years, I've used X10. Insteon, RF, Z-Wave, Zigbee, ZLL, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi products. Usually, every manufacturer finds a spectacular way to get it wrong. This time, I was wrong and this product was right! First - the app. It has more features than i ever imagined, but, in spite of that, it still makes navigation easy. Adding new products is easy. The connection to the sensor itself was Bluetooth from my phone, which then sent the Wi-Fi data over. It took less than two minutes ot set it all up. At this point, I forgot about the app (but will come back to it later). Second, when i opened Home assistant, the Flood sensor was already detected. I added it, put it in my plumbing dashboard, and saw all of the entities I could want. I set up a trigger to run an automation to sound my indoor siren. Next, I have a DC water shutoff valve that is dumb. At the same time that I bought this sensor, I set up a Shelly 1 to control the valve. I'll do another review for that later, but it also showed right up in Home Assistant. I set up an automation that will turn off power to the water valve (causing it to shut) when water is detected. When I went to test the automation is when i was surprised. As soon as the rope was wet, my phone started sounding an alarm - it sounds like an ACTUAL alarm. When i went into Shelly Smart Control to check out notifications, I got side tracked looking at the eatures for the sensor and discovered something amazing - there is Actions menu that will create a webhook for the Shelly 1 controlling the water valve. i quickly set one up, so that when water is detected, the Shelly 1 turns off. I then reset everything from my test and disabled the automation in Home Assistant. Sure enough, the Flood sensor sent a command to the Shelly 1 and turned off the water. That means if the Internet is down, Home Assistant is down, anything is down, as long as the Wi-Fi is up, my water will shut off when I have a leak, I just ordered 6 more of these, one for each bathroom, the water heater, the dishwasher, and the washing machine.

Flexible Leak Protection for Hard-to-Reach Areas
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shelly Flood Gen4 has been a great upgrade for my leak detection setup. What I really appreciate is the flexibility of the sensor cable, which makes it much easier to place the detector in more remote or awkward spots where a standard sensor wouldn’t work as well. It gives me more confidence knowing I can protect harder-to-reach areas without a complicated install.

Easy Set up and works well
||Posted . Set Up was quick, and connected without any problems. I tested it with a little water before putting everything back in and the alert came through right away. It’s one of those things you hope you never need, but I’m glad it’s there.
