To start, this is one of the best movies of 2015. It's beautifully shot, brutally realistic, and the acting from everyone involved is top-notch. British actress Emily Blunt gives easily the best dramatic performance I've ever seen from her, playing an American FBI agent. Her American accent is dead-on flawless and she brings a ton of grit and spunk to her character, and deserved any award nominations she received for this role. Josh Brolin is also terrific and entertaining as a brash government task-force official, giving this very serious and gritty film a slight touch of much-needed cocky humor. And of course, Benicio Del Toro is 'Sicario'', the hitman out to avenge his murdered wife and daughter in a both brutal yet nuanced terrific performance. If it weren't for Leo Di Caprio's (certainly amazing!) turn as Mr Glass in the mindblowing Revenant, Del Toro should have gotten at least some sort of wider recognition (although I read he was deservedly nominated for a BAFTA award for the role). Without giving away too much, the film is part action, part thriller and part espionage. I've now watched it at least 5 times, both on standard 1080p bluray and already twice now in this seriously jaw-dropping 4k UHD bluray presentation. It's one of those films that gets richer with each repeat viewing, and this outstanding early-generation 4k disc only makes it all the richer. The standard 1080p bluray was already a technical treat, with sharp video, excellent blacks, and a reference-grade 7.1 Dolby Atmos/TrueHD audio track. This new 4k version with HDR definitely surpasses the 1080 in virtually all respects (although to be fair, 'regular' bluray still remains amazing, and the difference in raw 'clarity' is more of an incremental upgrade compared to 1080 vs 480). The first impression is the feeling you are looking through a brand new window. This is some of the cleanest, most pristine video my 4k tv has ever displayed to date (Samsung 55JS8500-with HDR, 2015). The detail in facial closeups, clothing and surface textures is off the charts. My Sammy JS8500 TV is considered an entry-level HDR model, but the benefits of HDR are immediate and perhaps even more striking than the resolution itself. Blacks and shadows are considerably deeper and more detailed, and bright material jumps out of the screen. Fire burns with realistic intensity and brightness. Colors, even in Sicario's somewhat beige-leaning cinematography, are rich and intense, yet very natural if you set your color 38-45. Flesh tones are impressive, and outdoor scenes in Juarez are striking, with bold yellows (once the hardest color for video to get right), blues and reds. An old turquoise car in one combat scene really jumps off the screen. As for the 7.1 sound, this is demo-worthy material... Gunshots ricochet all over, explosions and the ominous musical score shake the floor. Helicopters seamlessly pan from the far back surrounds to the sides then the front with uncanny realism (and that's without currently having the Dolby Atmos height channels.) All told, l think the whole 4k experience overall is a home run, and it only makes a standout film like Sicario all the more engaging. After a recent night out at a nearby dine-in AMC to see The Conjuring 2 (very good sequel, by the way), I can say that 4k bluray with HDR matches and in many respects outclasses the image quality of the so-called 'real thing'. The brightness and blacks are superior, and the image detail is way sharper compared to the softer look of a large projected image. Everything about Sicario, from the acting, cinematography and the intense action, to the stunning 4k video and 7.1 audio presentation, should make adding this must-have early UHD release a high priority for anyone who loves great films and is highly recommended.

A dark movie. The story is okay, but the 4K presentation is definitely what makes it to stand out from the crowd of 4K movies. The Emily Blunt’s character is too naïve to satisfy, but Benicio del Toro is terrific and is the main reason one can watch this movie over and over. If you like Benicio del Toro in the Hunted, you will enjoy this movie also.

This film is filled with tension-filled scenes and sometimes extreme violence. But this is required to show the brutality of the drug cartels running things in this film. Great performances from Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, and Josh Brolin.

Honestly the first one kicks bum compared to this one. But I did enjoy the 4K even though blu Ray is the same thing to me on my 4K tv

Excellent and suspenseful movie on the battle against the drug lords. The movie starts with an FBI team trying to rescue immigrants being held for ransom. Instead, they find that the criminals murdered all the kidnapped victims, along with planting a bomb to hide other items. Emily Blunt does a good job portraying an FBI agent caught in a very dangerous investigation, that she is not prepared for. As the violence escalates, she tries to transfer from the investigation, only to realize how far the drug lords can reach. The main character of the Sicario trilogy is actually a government contractor, seeking revenge for the death of his family, which was caused by a specific drug lord. The ending definitely caught me by surprise, as to the level of violence that the contractor is willing to perform.

Owned the HD version of Sicario but bought the 4k disk. Thought a better picture for a film that I enjoyed would be worth the price. It isn't. Being a film with little, if any CGI footage, makes for a film that is no better in 4k. Don't spend the additional money on the 4k disk. You will notice virtually no difference between it and the HD version.

Denis Villeneuve has become one of my favorite directors and part of that reason is this movie. An action unlike any other, true tenseness throughout the film, a great story…it has it all. As for the steelbook, I think it may be the best one I’ve got, and I own well over 20. The design is not only gorgeous but it’s actually raised and creased in some parts in such an artistic way. You cannot go wrong with this purchase.

Sicario is a must see if you like drama that keeps you guessing until the very end. At one point you think that you know whats going on and then the next you don't. The answer wont be revealed until the very end. This film is also very violent as it depicts acts of the Mexican Drug Cartels and their various ways of murder and retribution against all those who oppose them. Get ready for a wild ride on the dark side. Who is the enemy? Who is the friend? Sometimes it may be hard to tell.

I WENT TO SEE THIS MOVIE IN THE THEATER AND CAN'T WAIT TO BUY THE BLUE RAY. THE US-MEXICO BORDER SHOOTOUT IS AWESOME. BENECIO DEL TORO IS FANTASTIC IN THIS MOVIE, HEARTLESS, PURE KILLER AND A MAN OF MYSTERY.

This has to be one of my favorite films in recent memory. It's a bit slow at time, but it's also incredibly unrelenting and unmerciful in its depiction of the modern drug trade. Because of this be forewarned as there are times where it can be too much for some viewers. It's a superbly acted and crafted film. I highly recommend it.

A gritty, action packed movie of a surreal horrors of drug wars across both sides of the border. It was a great movie and enjoy watching it.

On paper, Sicario should be a slam-dunk success, it boasts a terrific cast (Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin, and Bencio del Toro), deals with a timely issue (the toll the War on Drugs have taken on the US/Mexico border, and features the work of Oscar-nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins. And yet the film ultimately is less than it should have been, with some strong performances and impressive visuals covering up for a fairly empty story. After a police raid goes horribly wrong, an FBI agent (Blunt) is asked to participate in a broader US government program to take the fight to the Mexican cartels. But she soon discovers that a very shady government operative (Brolin) and an even more mysterious figure (del Toro as the title character, roughly translated to "hitman") have plans that go well beyond the law. The movie looks great, boasts a couple of very tense set pieces, and features some of the best cinematography you will see (one scene set at sunset is worth the price alone), but you will learn no real truths about the War on Drugs, and the payoff is awfully flat. The extras are skimpy, but if you enjoy the people involved and appreciate it purely as a slightly above-average thriller go for it. Just don't think you're watching a classic like "Traffic" or "Heat."

If you are willing to suspend reality for a few hours and slip into the dark side of drugs and questionable ethics then this movie will be right up your alley. Very much enjoyed it and cannot wait for the second installment.

This movie had me feeling icky. That's not to say that it's a bad movie at all! Quite the contrary! It's a great film. It's an incredibly dark film about an DEA agent who's working with the FBI to fight the drug cartels.

Sicario depicts the war on drugs in Mexico and the US. Emily Blount and BDT are awesome in their roles. Suspenseful until the very end. Bluray looks fantastic! Oscar nomination for best cinematography. Recommend highly.

I have seen so many good guy vs. bad guy movies; However, Sicario will not disappoint. It has great acting and suspense with a unexpected ending. Will make you wonder if this is true to life.

Sicario is a great suspenseful movie, made all the better with the soundtrack. The actors really shine in this movie as the true nature of the plot is revealed at the end.

One of the best films for 2015! I had to pick this up during this recent sale. If you love crime thrillers watch this film! It is based on actual real world current events.
