Customers are saying

Customers highly value the improved graphics and addictive gameplay of SimCity: Limited Edition. Many appreciate the challenging city-building experience and affordable price point. However, the game is met with significant criticism due to persistent server issues, an always-online requirement, a restrictively small map size, and the presence of bugs.

It's a good game and replaces the simcity we all use to play and love, just still has some bugs with the servers from time to time

Great city builder. Love the curvey roads. Wish I could connect to all cities in the region. It is a little buggy.

I've been a big Sim's fan for a long time. This SimCity is not much of a challenge, the game guides you in everything you need to do, making the game not much of a challenge.

For $60, it's hard to recommend this game. I'd say it's worth $40. The internet requirement has been well-documented, but I will say that I had no problems connecting to the servers, downloading the updates, and then playing the game. The North American servers were all busy, but there are three European servers and an Oceania server and they were all available. When you start the game, you are forced to go through the Tutorial - absolutely no way to skip it. Initially, my game froze in the Tutorial, but I restarted and changed servers and then it worked fine. It is ridiculous that the Tutorial is required before you can play the game. Forced internet connection is one thing. A forced tutorial is overbearing and unnecessary. Gameplay is fun and definitely challenging. It's hard to hit the sweet spot with zoning; you need Residential, Commercial and Industrial in just the right proportions to be profitable. But when you hit the sweet spot, it's fantastic. Watching your decisions play out in real time is pretty great also. Placing that first power plant and watching the power zap its way to your buildings is awesome. The game lacks the ability to build a true multi-zone metropolis, though, because... The cities are just absurdly small. It really is shameful. I believe this is a temporary issue, and larger plots will be available eventually. But it absolutely takes away from the fun and realism of the game to have cities this small. It's disconcerting when you realize that after 20 seconds of zoning for industrial, you zoned nearly half the city. I think SimCity 4 fans will have a hard time adjusting to the incredibly small city sizes. The regions seem pretty normal-sized to me, except there is an inordinate amount of space between cities. Have to hope that space is eventually usable. Now, I have to mention that one of the reasons for the small cities is because the game is a true simulation - meaning, everything that you see happening is actually happening. You can follow individual people and vehicles around and they go through a normal day, going to work, going shopping, going to the park, etc. This has not been done in a city building game before and I'm excited about the possibilities for the future. But for now, I am counting the minutes until they release/unlock larger cities. Overall: recommended for city building fans who have extra money to spend. I think SimCity purists will almost certainly be turned off by the amazingly small cities, and I really cannot see spending the full $60 on this game.
