the touch screen is a disappointment, the remote eh

the look, nice sleek and up to date. actual usability, disappointed. I had the previous commander in my car and loved it(used the remote for driving). the following is my opinions. first, the touch sensors suck and are delayed if they get your push at all. I think they tried to get too cutesy with all the options on the screen (some like to see a lot). when driving the only needed is the channel and the artist/song. the display was too busy and at times hard to see. the older version had a simple LCD readout. I prefer to use a remote because you can feel around the primary buttons without looking. the new remote has no bumps to feel around. the new remote also does not allow to set direct(channel) numbers, first you hit direct on the remote then the station number and enter.on the head unit you hit the channel on screen, then input the number wanted and then GO onscreen. I feel that is way too much time looking at the screen and not the road(I have tried the onscreen) especially with the touchscreen issues I have mentioned. the previous version allowed you to set up the head unit to accept direct, scan or preset(mine was set to direct but could scroll on the head unit wheel or up/down remote buttons). this version also does not come with a remote in the main package (if you get the remote for it) you have to download an update to a media device and plug it into the head unit using a micro usb just to use the remote. as of writing this review I admit I am still not totally convinced that I will keep this version in or put a new older version back in. I recommend having it installed but if you are comfortable with basic wiring and car radio wires,go for it. I made no splices into car wiring.

I have a 2013 Mustang with the standard factory radio. I wanted Sirius but factory kits were over $300 and I didn’t want a plug & play unit sticking out of my dash so the Commander Touch wired into my auxiliary jack in the console seemed like a good compromise. The reception is excellent and the installation was as good as I could have expected, but programming the presets and changing stations is a major headache with this product. There is a delay of one or two seconds between entering a station button and the actual station change. A remote control would be helpful but to the best of my knowledge there isn’t one available for the Commander Touch. The display also washes out in bright sunlight. I can live with these issues for the price point, but this product could be a lot better.

The touch screen on the device is cheap plastic, hard to keep clean hard to keep from getting scratched. Icons are very tiny hard to see when you are driving especially with polarized sunglasses. Otherwise sounds very good reception is good also. As far as Best Buy's install experience, purchased the device, waited over a week to come in for install at Best Buy in Downey, technician took the whole dash apart, he realized that he needed an extra part for the antenna and according to Best Buy's computer system that part can only be ordered online. So the tech began to put the dash back together minus the antenna part, as he was doing that I went on my phone and ordered the part based on the SKU number he provided, lo and behold the computer said that antenna Park was available at that store. The tech started to rummage around the rack were all the other parts were and found it buried under other items, by that time the dash had been put back together again so he had to schedule a third trip back to the installation Department, after the third trip the part was installed and we left happily ever after right?? Not exactly there was a wire that was incorrectly attached so we had to schedule a fourth trip, again the tech had to take the dash apart reconnect the Rogue wire and finally after four trips to the store the device was installed correctly. By the way the tech was a great guy with a great personality, some things we're out of his hands and others were not.

I bought the unit bc it was small and would integrate well into the limited space in my RAV4 and it ticks that box. Display is small and difficult to see and the touchscreen is MEH at best. Radio was inexpensive and installation was free and done very well by BB

The touch screen can be difficult, not always registering taps. I've had some problems with the power "button" so I've just been leaving it on all the time. Luckily it turns off when I turn the car's engine off, so it isn't draining the battery when the car's off. Definitely not easy or a good idea to try changing channels while driving. Bought this because my 2015 Toyota didn't come Sirius-ready (why not, Toyota??) and didn't want to splurge on an expensive touch-screen replacement for my stock radio that was Sirius-ready. I probably should have splurged on a touch-screen stereo with Sirius integrated.

So sorry you are having difficulty with your Commander Touch. There is a software update available that might be beneficial for you. The update can be found at www.siriusxm.com/commandertouch and click on the Product Warranty and Support link then Product Support. Please be sure to review the updated user guide before you choose to update. The update enhances the favorite channels (presets) into larger buttons making it a bit easier to operate. In addition, the update enables the Commander Touch to work with a wireless remote control (Model # BXDPR2-D) which is available at siriusxm.com SiriusXM

Wife needed a new SiriusXM radio so I bought this thing for her truck. This ain’t for the average joe and it isn’t a plug and play so unless you have skills to tap into 2 power sources....leave it to the pros. I’ll be installing this thing myself when it gets warmer outside since I’d have to remove some dash panels and possibly radio. I did wire this thing using a power supply and an aux boom box and did get it working. The screen is kinda slow when using its features.

The radio I bought online in Oct. said it was XM ready, but wasn't. So I bought this product. Neither have been installed yet. Both will be installed on Friday Feb. 28. I had to find a harness for the original radio since Best Buy did not have one. This product ate up the money I was going to spend on a backup camera. After two cancelled previous appointments I will finally have music. I think my motorhome is cursed! Can not rate the products since they have not been installed yet. Can not provide pictures, again not installed yet. But will rate the installation technician excellent for all of his help. He has gone above and beyond.

Good sound once I was finally able to find a station to listen to. Extremely small with hard to read features. Very difficult to change stations. Can't read the screen during daylight. No User Manual contained in box. Purchased in Flint but was told I had to go to Auburn Hills to have it installed.

When I brought this home I could'nt get it to power up , I packed it back up and was going to take it back for an exchange but the next day I hooked it back up and it started working , It's great for someone who wants satellite radio in their car but not a lot of wires , it's kind of confusing to work at first but then you get used to it

The radio is awesome but the service is expensive and over priced. My 3 stars are only because the physical radio I bought is awesome but the service is extremely overpriced.

This was not worth buying. The reason is simple, you can buy an aftermarket stereo with xm capability for close to the same price. That being said, it will work if it is your only option.

If SiriusXM wants to remain in the stream market they need to step it up. Laggy.
