It is just a three prong cord nothing special. You can get them cheaper at big box stores, if you do purchase one else where do not take it out of the package until Best Buy installer installs and see your cord is new and in a package. I had a new cord that I opened before they installed the dryer and the installer told me he had to use the BB cord cause I had mine out of the package. If he used mine it would void my warranty. I told the sales person in the store I had the cord their response was it would be up to the installer as to whether to use the one I had or the one I had to buy at BB. Funny thing was on the dryer kit BB sells the sales person told me it was required too, so I purchased it. When the installer came out he told me he did not need to use the one I bought at BB that my existing exhaust was fine. My guess is he did not want to go under the house and install the dryer exhaust kit. He did mention to me he was trying to get through as quick as he could to get off early.

I purchased a new LG washer and dryer a couple months ago and had it installed by the Geek Squad. The washer was malfunctioning on the first wash and had to be replaced. When the washer was replaced, something happened to the dryer and it had to be replaced. The original washer I purchased had been discontinued, so I had to get another version that does not match the washer. Also, they wanted me to pay the difference for the "upgraded" dryer. After complaining on why this was not acceptable, they conceded to eat the cost. When they came on yet another day to replace the dryer, they did not hook up the dryer to the waterline for the steam function to work. They returned yesterday for a fourth time to fix this issue. When they left, I had a minor meltdown because the washer didn't work. Luckily, it was just that they had not turned the waterlines back on. This has been the most frustrating purchase ever. I was out multiple days of work and so much time. All of my experiences talking to people about this problem were flippant at best. I will not be using Best Buy, Geek Squad, or any LG product in the future.

Best Buy and the manufacturers have gotten together and made it where you HAVE to buy a new power cord from the retailer when you buy the washer or dryer. The units simply don't come with one. So, whether you're buying from BB, or from another source, you still get to invest in a brand new power cord. Silly, I know. My only real complaint is that BB should sell more than just 6-foot power cords. In most homes, the power outlet is OPPOSITE the connection on the back of the washer or dryer, and that limits the position you can put the dryer in your laundry area. At least that's the case for me. A 9-foot or 10-foot cord would have been better.

Honestly, I don't know how I went so long without this product in my life. The Smart Choice - 6' 30 Amp Dryer Cord Required for Hook-Up is everything it says it is. It really is 6 feet long, provides 30 Amps to my dryer, and is totally necessary for hook-up. I mean, you can really feel that 30 Amps rushing into the dryer. Vicariously, that is. If you sit and watch it, there's no mistaking who the conduit of power is in this set up. It's the Smart Choice - 6' 30 Amp Dryer Cord Required for Hook-Up. My only problem: why not a flashier selection of colors? A more modern prong? The design team here seems to lack imagination. Aside from that though, I can't say enough good things about the Smart Choice - 6' 30 Amp Dryer Cord Required for Hook-Up.

I hate that, every time I get a new appliance I need to also buy the power cord for it. Seems ridiculous. TVs and blenders come with power cords; heck almost everything does. Why do I need to buy something that is necessary to give power to my dryer? Even if the old appliance has a power cord, they won't use that one instead of making me pay for a new one. I know; they say there are liability issues, but that does not seem to be a concern for every other appliance/electronic device in the world. Just include the cord with the appliance!

Bought new washer & dryer & all new connections & install from Best Buy. Dryer quit working & burning smell. Referred to Whirlpool repair service, quickly serviced dryer & found loose power cord in back of dryer, which was installed by Best Buy. Entire wiring harness burned & needs replaced. Whirlpool does not cover cost of new power cord, since I purchased from Best Buy. Visited store in person & called customer service, only to be told no, it's been past 90 days. At least another week until dryer will be repaired & Best Buy won't even be reasonable & cover the $19.99 power cord they sold & installed poorly. $19.99 power cord unfortunately is going to cost Best Buy a longtime & frequent customer.

When I had this dryer installed, because of an older home, I decided to call an electrician to check out the 220 wiring - good thing I did as I had a 4-prong receptacle in a 3-prong wiring set up, so we had it changed back to 3-prong receptacle. Unfortunately our electrician installed the receptacle upside down - the angled prong on this cord is on the top - just in case you need to know - and until he returns, the end of the cord is pointing upwards. Since the receptacle is up by the top of the dryer its a bit of a strain on the receptacle itself due to the weight. The length is great however and allows movement of the dryer to clean behind and it's not too thick so it snugs up close to the wall. The one I received is a gray, not black as in the photo.

Does not work well with the GE 24 inch dryer.

Best Buy included this cord with my purchase of a new washer and dryer. First of all the installer wired it to the dryer incorrectly (despite a very clear diagram on the back of the unit) which my electrician spouse had to point out and make sure it was corrected. Then the configuration of the cord is such that the cover plate designed to enclose the cord connection to the dryer would not close properly. This cord may work for other dryers but it does not work well with the GE dryer. The dryer is stacked so the slightly ajar cover plate is not a safety issue but I would not buy this again.

Too short if stacking the unit

The cord itself, I'm sure, is fine and would be enough length if you aren't stacking the dryer on the washer. The cord starts near the top of the dryer which is almost 3' and add another 3' when stacked on to top of washer. Unless your receptacle is up high, it either won't reach or be a stretch. We ended up buying a 10' cord at a local appliance store (Best Buy nor the big box stores had anything longer than 6') and replaced it ourselves before they installed the dryer. It was a good thing we did because the extra length gave the installers plenty of slack to get it set up.

    Wrong Cord Ordered for Installation

I ordered my new dryer in store and didn't know that there are different sizes/shapes to dryer power cords. No questions were asked of me about what my outlet looked like, and when the machines showed up for installation, it turned out that the cord I bought and that got delivered did not fit in our outlet. The guys installing luckily had some extras on the truck, but I had to re-buy a cord from the driver (which seemed strange), and return the other cord to the store myself. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK WHAT TYPE OF POWER CORD YOU NEED BEFORE ORDERING!

I know that this is how it's done, but it really does seem more than a little bizarre that all of the parts (including the CORD) would not be included with the actual washer/dryer itself. If I'm not getting a complete out-of-the-box, ready-to-go unit, then what exactly am I paying for? A conversation piece it is not. In any case, be prepared to tack on another $20 to have a functional dryer. I recommend only because you have no choice!

I had to purchase this item in order to have Best Buy's installation service install the Samsung dryer. HOWEVER, when purchasing any dryer that provides a steam option, make sure you purchase a second part that hooks up to a water valve that will allow you to use the steam option. Bestbuy.com did not alert me to this needed part when ordering the Samsung dryer. Very, very disappointed in the customer service. I think they have since fixed the problem on the website, i.e. now it tells you that you need this second part. It did not for me and it was a huge hassel.

I thought about using my old cord to save money, but when the installer mentioned that OSHA requires a new cord for every new appliance, it makes perfect sense especially when dealing with electricity. Mine didn't work right at first. I even replaced the outlet until I read that for every major appliance installation that the breaker for that appliance outlet needs to be shut off first, plug in the appliance, then turn on the breaker for the full 240 wattage to be available for the appliance to work properly.

We were super excited to buy from Best Buy, the delivery and installation worked really well. Except that the first dryer we were sent was damaged. We were assured it was cosmetic only, but it was not. When the dryer was replaced, the team wired it backwards. I just spent $100 to have an electrician tell me that the issue with my outlet was actually that Best Buy wired the dryer backwards and could have killed us. Won't be buying from there again.

Where would I be without this Smart Choice 6' 30-amp Dryer Cord? I would be sitting here in damp clothes, that's where. Why dryers are sold without a power cord seems to be a big joke on the consumer. (you want wheels with your new vehicle? sir, that's insane) Nonetheless, I decided it wasn't worth the lengthy court battles and time consuming consumer watchdoggery to rectify this situation, so instead I purchased the after-market power supply - and, man, does it supply the power. My dryer seems content - almost purring - with its fresh supply of electron kibbles.

They not only matched the price but beat it! Living remotely is an awesome experience but shopping is almost impossible. I was between a rock and a hard spot after ordering a washer and dryer at Lowes for my rental 400 miles away. After the promised delivery date, I was informed that they could not deliver it for 30 days. I called Best Buy in Gresham, They not only beat the price but delivered it within 3 days. Thank you Tod and Kara for your awesome customer service. I will forever be in your debt.

My review is still pending... upon install the vent kit was too short... guess I should have checked that.. I may have to return but the install guys gave me suggestions so that I could use the dryer ... just not forever - I let the dryer vent into the basement room. It was not their issue, just my lack of checking the distance I needed ... they also only connect new hoses if purchased through Best Buy's...I didn't realize that but I guess that's true of all new purchases unless it is decided beforehand

We (me & installer) had a discussion on connectors. I thought the old cord (from Best Buy BTW) would work fine. He said he wasn't allowed to use old cords. So I got a new cord. FYI the older cords with bent ends can't be removed or fall off any easier than the full-circle types, and if either is that loose it could cause a short. On this small point, I would've re-used the old one, a good 2nd use. It was installed professionally, so the big picture is no worries.

I was worried that my dryer install wouldn't be completed because my outlet is the old 3 wire type. However when the guys showed up with the set and looked around at where my old units were before I moved them out the first thing he looked ar was the outlet so he knew he needed a 3 wire cord and not the four wire. They went out to the truck and set it all up brought it in, plugged it in and it is perfect!

I was led to believe I needed a new power cord for my dryer. BB states that this is required so I bought it. But its not so. I could have used the power cord of my old dryer instead of buying a new one. This info come from a Master Electrician. The new BB cord required a whole new electrical plug to accommodate the new cord. Do some homework before you buy anything.
