Not the quality that I’ve experienced from Sonanace. Seems like speakers built to a certain price point.

They look fantastic and feel solid. Sound however is underwhelming. Reminds me of driving with my am radio on in my 67 Camaro. Room filling sound they are not. I have them hooked up to a 120 watt Cambridge AVR so, power is not the issue. Another reviewer noted a complete lack of bass and thin sounding, I couldn't agree more. I can't wrap my head around all the great 5 star reviews for these.

These speakers seem like a great deal, especially when they're on sale, but they sound like crap compared side-by-side with smaller (6.5 inch) speakers by Polk or any other brand practically. Do not be fooled.

To me, the only thing that matters when it comes to speakers is sound quality. I do care about built and overall look but those are so low in my wish list. The Sonance Magnolia really worked wonders with my Sony 7.1 video receiver, delivering a rich high-end sound with no hissing or other types of artifacts. Great bass too. It made me feel even more immersed in movies and in music videos. These speakers are rated as 150 Watts RMS. That means that to get the best sound out of them, your amplifier system needs to output at least 300 Watts per channel. What is great about them is that they are rated as 150 Watts RMS, not peak Watts. That makes a huge difference as it means that it can sustain that power indefinitely instead of just microseconds on speakers not rated in RMS. The result is consistent perfect sound. They likely sound better than speakers rated at 500-Watts peak. The only thing you need to make sure is that you are using the right setup in your receiver or amplifier. If your system has different settings, such as 2.1, 4.1, 5.1 or higher, each pair of speakers need to be on the right position and the right setting. Otherwise, they may deliver undesirable results. If your system is 7.2, for instance, set it to that. Easy wiring and it matched my ceiling. No painting needed. The only “issue” I experienced was that once I replaced the existing ones and set the volume high, it revealed a considerable amount of dust coming off the ceiling for a few minutes. I am not talking about just around the speakers themselves. The whole ceiling, which seems to be clean now. It probably would have caused panic if we were watching an earthquake movie. Of course, many speakers can do that but what impressed me was the pure, crisp sound and good base. These are not low-end speakers.

Although these speakers look nice and have many 5 star reviews, they are incredibly flat sounding. To get any amount of bass put of these I had to turn the bass all the way up and the treble half way down. I have returned these speakers.

The Sonance - Magnolia 8" Passive 2-Way In-Ceiling Speakers are fantastic. They deliver amazingly clear and captivating sound that creates an immersive audio experience. The Sonance 8" 2-Way speakers really make me feel like I'm in the middle of the action. They are designed very well. Solid structure, the components are bound together with precision, and they are easy to install. You will need to purchase mounting hardware if you do not have it, as it is not included with these amazing speakers. I immediately noticed a substantial difference in the audio experience after installing the Sonance speakers. The detail in specific elements of the sound improved significantly. High frequency sounds are crystal clear. I could hear little things like birds chirping, wood crackling and squeaking sounds with more depth and clarity than before. Explosions feel closer to you as the bass from the subwoofer is complimented by the 8-inch fiber cone woofer in the Sonance ceiling speaker. These speakers work great with all audio applications; movies, music, video games, sports, and more. I highly recommend the Sonance-Magnolia 8" Passive 2-Way In-Ceiling Speakers. They will bring your audio experience to life.

I was heartbroken by the performance of these speakers. The sound quality does not live up to the premium price. These speakers sound thin with no detail. This explains why Best Buy refuses to demo them in store. They sound like cheap in ear head phones. Im sorry I wasted gas driving to purchase these speakers.

I really don’t know how else to say it, so I’ll just say it: adding ceiling speakers to your existing home theater will take it to the next level. What better way to do it than with a pair of Sonance 8 inch beauties. Upon unpackaging the speakers from the box, your first reaction may be to the size and weight of them. They are big, and they are heavy. I immediately began to ponder the ceiling sheetrock supporting them. Yes, they feel and are that heavy. The key to proper installation, besides following the instructions, is using the template properly. The speakers essentially slide into the hole cut using the provided template. Make sure you have the proper tools when cutting the hole in the sheetrock. I recommend cutting by hand from the center using a sheetrock saw. Once you slide the speaker in the hole, there are screws which twist a clamp in position to secure the speaker to the sheetrock. If you’ve installed wall speakers or other ceiling speakers, you should be very familiar with this design approach. It is very important not to overtighten the clamp screws. Of course, you need to run speaker wire from your receiver – of course you know that if you made this purchase. Placement is also important. I have a 7.2 channel system. Having rear and surround speakers, the best place for these is between those distances, but closer to the rear speakers. If you have a 5.1 system, I suggest a location nearly on top of the preferred seating location for your theater setup. Well, enough of that. How do they sound. In a word, WOW! Not only is the sound full, with fantastic range, but very powerful, deep, and rangy. These speakers outshine my existing speaker setup, which is pretty good, in my opinion. The sound quality is fantastic, and if you don’t have at least above average speakers currently, you may want to look elsewhere. You need something with good quality to get a proper blend with the Sonance speakers. This is quality sound, period. They are wonderful for movies, music, and sporting events. I have no reservations in saying you will undoubtedly enjoy them. I don’t only recommend these speakers, but I encourage anyone interested to go to Best Buy and purchase them. This is not a question of “if” but “when”!

First impression...this box is heavy. The speakers must weigh over 10lbs each. I unboxed the speakers and that's basically all the box includes. There are 2 front channel speakers and a cardboard template. I have a Sony 5.1 set of surround speakers connected to an Onkyo receiver. I disconnected the speaker leads and connect the new Sonance speakers. The connect posts are great. They are spring loaded, you just press down to expose the through hole and insert the speaker lead. Release and the wire is locked. Positive wire to positive post and negative wire to negative post. I haven't mounted the speakers yet, but connecting them and doing the setup in my Onkyo recievers menu had them working. When I first connected them, I heard a hiss up close and thought they were going to be lousy. I found that hard to believe since they are a pretty expensive price point, so I thought about it and decided it must be my speaker settings. I went in the menu and discovered that I had the receiver set for 7.1. I don't have side speakers yet, so I changed that setting to 5.1. Then I streamed so music via Plex and Roku and set the receiver at all channel sound. That changed the hiss to vocal and sounded pretty good. That fixed, I fired up a few movies, again via Plex and Roku. I heard sounds I never heard with the Sony speakers. I thought there was someone or something in my backyard. I heard all the normal sounds I heard from the old speakers, but also doors creaking, birds chirping or long distance background noise that wouldn't be missed if a listener didn't know it was supposed to exist. I thoroughly enjoyed the movies and the new speakers. Now I'll need to see what a matching center speaker from Sonance will run.

Although I have been satisfied overall with the Polk speakers in my home stereo system, I've never been satisfied with the 6" ceiling speakers that provide the rear surround. Having now replaced them with these 8" Sonance speakers, I am now very satisfied. These speakers make a noticeable difference. The good news is that I previously had routed the speaker wires through the attic, so removing the old speakers, cutting out bigger holes, inserting, and installing these new speakers was a straight forward effort. I am very pleased with these speakers...

I have a 5.1.2 surround setup that I use daily in my home theater. The later .2 speakers are mounted on the wall which I don't particularly like protruding out the wall. The Sonance - Magnolia 8" Passive 2-Way In-Ceiling Speakers have now replaced those and they are a really clean looking addition to my setup. I find the sound reproduction is excellent and goes great with my current setup if not better. The Sonance speakers come with white low profile speaker grills which give it a clean look that do not protrude from the ceiling. You can also angle the woofer/tweeter to your desired listening position which is also a plus. The Sonance speakers are rated at 150 watts, 8 ohms and 40 hertz. I watched several movies with the family and everyone is enjoying the new additions to my home theater setup, especially the wife because she never was fond of the speakers on the wall.
