Instant turn off. Doesn’t support google assistant. Connecting to an already complete surround system is NOT an option. Especially if you wanted to use it’s brand new volume slider as a control compared to the over simplistic older versions when you don’t have your phone around or if others want to control it.

Hi, and thank you very much for your review! Unfortunately, Google decided to take a different philosophy when their voice assistant is being used with speakers that aren't theirs. This philosophy doesn't align with our own. We are incredibly excited to offer Amazon Alexa, and Sonos Voice Control on Era 100 and Era 300. Along with additional privacy options and a mechanical on/off switch, we know customers will enjoy the additional functionality and privacy that our Era products offer! As far as your concerns with adding them to existing home theater surround sounds systems. You can do this however, you would need two of them. Era 100 is an entirely new, and upgraded acoustic architecture than it's predecessor Sonos One. So pairing it with a Sonos One (for example) would not sound ideal. As mentioned, you can use x2 Era 100 as rears if you'd like. - Thank you so much for trying out Era 100, and we're sorry it didn't fulfill your expectations. We know you'll love it as a standalone speaker, or as surround sounds if you give them a shot. Thanks again! john.milton

-sound is unimpressive vs the cost -setup process is HORRIBLE and is definitely not “plug and play”. -speakers drop Bluetooth daily if one of any processes is not specifically followed -ditto if one of several remote control (new Samsung TV) buttons is pressed -currently randomly disconnected, cannot reconnect -planning to return -ADVICE: do not purchase unless you have the “free” anytime service scheduling (Pro account) for frequent technician visits OR unless you are satisfied taking 30-60min daily to fix things

Just WOW!! I have a few speakers from a couple of different manufacturers around the house and this is my first Sonos speaker. The other speakers are going to for sale by the end of the week. The Sonos Era 100 is one of the best sounding speakers in that size range I have heard in a while. I can't compare it to any other speaker they make but I can see why folks who own them think the world of them. I'll start with the negatives which there aren't many. The USB-C adapter for the line-in, has to be the one from Sonos. You cannot use one from anyone else that you might have bought from your local store or online when you purchased the Era 100 thinking you could connect your turntable or other device to it using the line-in. It doesn't have Google assistant compatibility, which hopefully you probably already know if you did some research. That's it for the negative for me now on to the good stuff. This little speaker is deceptively heavy which is a good thing. I have never trusted a light speaker. They tend to not sound good. The Era 100 is excellent without touching the EQ in the application. It was easy to setup which I am very thankful for. If you don't own a Sonos speaker you will have to create a account and the register the speaker to get it started (Bluetooth won't work until you get it setup and running with your Sonos account). The sound it produces is incredible. My expectations were not high so I was pleasantly surprised. I love this speaker!!!!! I will be buying more Sonos products if they are anywhere near as close to the quality of the Era 100. Your ears will be very happy and maybe a bit mad you took so long to feed them such a good fidelity. Definitely recommend buying at least one of these, just remember to buy the adapter from Sonos as well.

--- SETUP --- The Sonos Era 100 speaker was easy to set up. Plug in the included cable to the speaker and a wall outlet. The Sonos speaker will turn on. Download the app called Sonos and the app will guide you from there. --- FEATURES --- This speaker and app have Trueplay technology which analyzes the speaker’s location for best sound. Audio can be streamed from the phone and won’t get interrupted by phone calls. --- PERFORMANCE AND EXPECTATIONS --- The speaker truly sounds amazing, especially after using the app to analyze the place you’ve set up the speaker. This is my first sonos experience. It took me an extra 2 minutes to figure out how to have the audio play from my iTunes library. Because the audio is streamed via WiFi, you’re not looking for a bluetooth device. Instead, you are to use the airplay feature from within the Music app or any other app you want audio from. You can also stream music from the Sonos app itself, but I didn’t really open the app after the initial setup and Trueplay tuning. I am a dance instructor and I teach salsa. In terms of music, I teach to accentuate dance moves in what are called core beats, or counts 1,3,5,7. This Sonos speaker is great at helping me not only hear beats, but also feel them. I was a bit disappointed to find out that this specific speaker needs to be connected to an outlet for it to work. It doesn’t function as a truly wireless speaker in that sense. That being said, it has become my new favorite speaker to practice with at home. It blends in with most tech I have near it, and if I needed to conceal it, I easily could do that thanks to its size. --- APPROVAL --- If you need a powerful yet small speaker and you are ok with it being plugged into the wall when in use, then this speaker is what you are looking for.

Era 100s - Smaller Speaker with Big Sound

The Sonos Era 100 has great sound quality even at a higher volume level. Specifically, the bass can keep up with the treble which is often an issue with speakers this size . One Era 100 is more than enough to fill a 1000 sq.ft. room with sound and even more impressive with two Era 100s as a speaker pair. They are easy to connect to the Sonos S2 controller and user friendly to manually adjust volume or skip to the next song. I purchased the Sonos wall mounts which works great and are fairly sturdy. I would have planned for a better outlet access as the cords are visible below the speakers. The two frustrations I have had with these speakers and Sonos in general is that they will occasionally “drop out” and disconnect from the WiFi set-up I have (one Sonos Connect:AMP v.2 and 2xEra 100). I think this is due to the older and newer S2 products in the same system. This is an easy fix with a quick unplug/replug of the three components. The new Sonos S2 controller App for iPhone is a little frustrating and it seems as though it was released without all of the necessary functions. However, it has gotten better with occasional function add-ons and bug fixes. Hopefully the continue with the improvements.

The Sonos Era 100 absolutely exceeded my expectations. For its compact size, the sound is incredibly rich, with crisp highs, detailed mids, and surprisingly deep bass. It easily fills a room and feels way bigger than it looks. Setup was simple and quick, and the app integration makes it super convenient to control music, adjust EQ, and pair with other Sonos speakers. I especially love how versatile it is—great as a standalone speaker, but it really shines when paired in stereo or as part of a larger Sonos system. Build quality feels premium, and the sleek design blends seamlessly into any space. If you’re looking for high-quality sound, reliable wireless connectivity, and something that just works effortlessly every time, the Era 100 is a perfect choice. Highly recommend!

I've had my Sonos beam for a little bit and it's been great on its own. But recently my partner and I were exploring surround sound options because we have a rather long distance between us and the TV and sometimes that makes hit a little harder to hear some of the audio. So I went and picked up two of these Era 100s to hopefully fix that issue. I can definitely say that I am thoroughly impressed with how they sound and the audio quality that they provide. After playing a couple of movies were definitely sold on the idea of surround sound and we definitely didn't know we were missing this level of audio quality and atmosphere from the surrounds. Plus setting them up was really easy and fast. Overall, I'm really happy with these era 100s and I definitely recommend them to anyone with a Sonos soundbar if you are looking for some surround sound speakers.

If you are familiar with Sonos Speakers you will feel very comfortable with the Era 100. It is simple to set up, the Sonos app is feature rich and the sound quality is an improvement over the Sonos One. Some of the controls have changed and there are some new features but the overall sound quality and design is typical Sonos. These are great to use as stand alone speakers or you can use them in stereo or match them with a Sonos sound bar. We have ours sitting on the kitchen counter and it provides a lot of music without taking up a lot of space. The sound quality is better than the previous Sonos One speaker because it now has a larger Mid-range/Woofer and two angled tweeters. After setting up the speaker using the Sonos app I ran the TruePlay tuning which adjust the speaker dynamics to better match the room acoustics. This gives the music a much fuller sound with a wider sound stage. The one dislike I found is that on some of the music the bass seemed to be muffled when set on the default bass mid-level setting. After some checking I realized that the Loudness setting was enabled by default in the Sonos app. Once I turned the Loudness feature off I was able to adjust the equalizer to provide the bass sound quality I expected out of this speaker. Because the speaker is small it will never reproduce a booming bass response but its as good as it gets for speakers in this size range. The volume, play/pause, forward and reverse are touch sensitive buttons on the top of the speaker which is very convenient if you aren’t using a voice assistant. There is also a voice assistant touch button that allows you to turn the assistant on or off. On the back side of the speaker there is a Bluetooth pairing button along with a microphone on/off switch. The microphone on/off switch is great for anyone who wants to make sure the microphone is physically turned off. There is also a USB-C port on the back that can only be used for providing an in-line jack for audio and/or an ethernet connector by purchasing and connecting an optional dongle cable. Setting up the speaker is simple using the Sonos app. In the Sonos App you can set up the speaker’s wi-fi access, setup and choose the voice assistant, choose your streaming music source and configure the equalizer settings. You have the choice of Alexa or Sonos’ assistant – note Google’s assistant and Siri are not available. I have used both Alexa and Sonos voice control and both access my Amazon music without issue. I have also used Air Play and Bluetooth as well to stream music off various devices in my house. So far I am yet to find something that does not easily interface with this speaker.

I recently picked up the Sonos Era 100 and have been really impressed. The sound quality is excellent — it delivers rich bass with a well-balanced overall sound that works great for both music and TV/Movie watching. Setup was quick and straightforward, and connecting to Wi-Fi and streaming services was seamless. It’s a compact speaker, but it easily fills the room with clear, powerful sound. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a versatile, great-sounding smart speaker.

My ears ache for a Google eco Sonos speaker

I am a big fan of Sonos but I feel a bit a heartache with this Sonos speaker. The Sonos Era 100 is magnificently designed. The speaker has obvious touch sensitive buttons and it’s not hard to use it with both wired and wireless devices once it’s originally set up. Really, the set up is kind of annoying because you can’t use the speaker’s features without an account and an app. Not sure why the strong arming into making a Sonos account, but I guess that’s typical with devices these days. After setup and getting it connected with my YouTube Music I just… WOW The sound out of Sonos Era 100 is fairly incredible. I have a Google Max speaker and that is four times the size of this Sonos delivers equivalent sound. There’s a feature called TrueSound that plays some tones while your phone listens to them, then it creates a sound profile that optimizes to the room. It worked perfectly and I didn’t have to tweak a thing. The rich bass and tight treble were amazing and I was stoked to listen to some of my tunes on the diminutive speaker with its gigantic sound. Adding it to my Google Home system is where I started to have problems. I could see that Sonos is there on the Google Home “works with Google” page so when I found the service on my Home app I was stoked at the future possibilities spreading Sonos speakers around my home along with my various Nest minis and Nest Hub Max devices for a household of sound. NOPE TO THAT I could only use Home as a remote control. No chromecast capability without additional hardware such as a ChromeCast Audio (discontinued) or some other device like a Nest Hub with wired or Bluetooth connection. I think most high end speakers have some sort of Chromecast support now so to not be able to add the Sonos Era 100 to my chorus of speakers for a whole house sound scape really made me sad because the speaker sounds so good. When you’ve invested a lot of money in an ecosystem, things like this are dealbreakers so I’ll probably find another home for the speaker. It’s been years since Google and Sonos have been making audio stream groups and they haven’t collaborated at the smart level for any of the newest devices so I’m not going to hold my breath that they will do it in the future. As a standalone device, WOW do I love this speaker, and for those in simpler setups with one or two linked speakers on a floor with a few phones or Bluetooth devices. When it leaves my house I’ll be so earbroken, or maybe my ear’s hearts will be broken. So sad.

The Sonos Era 100 is a compact speaker that works well in a surround sound setup, especially for those already in the Sonos ecosystem. It’s easy to set up and integrates seamlessly with Sonos soundbars and other speakers. The sound quality is impressive for its size, with clear midrange and punchy bass, making it great for dialogue and general movie watching. In a surround sound system, the Era 100 fills the room with immersive sound, though it lacks the deep bass and pinpoint accuracy of dedicated subwoofers or surround speakers. It’s an excellent choice for an entry-level surround experience, but for more precise audio, you might want to pair it with a Sonos Sub or consider the more specialized Sonos One or Era 300. Overall, the Era 100 is a solid, easy-to-use option for adding surround sound without complexity.

This Sonos era 100 speaker is so amazing for my home. It is literally a smart speaker with the high-quality performance of a normal Bluetooth speaker. This speaker is wireless so it is easy to use anywhere throughout your home without no issues. This speaker is smart and has high quality sound. It is simple to set up just by downloading the sonos app in your Google or Apple downloads. Link up your speaker and you are ready to go. This speaker will link up to your Spotify in just seconds or you can listen to one of their radio stations they offer. The app is easy to use which someone who has issues with the technology wouldn't get confused because there is step by step instructions right in the box. I love this speaker because it is wireless and high quality. You can literally put it anywhere in your home and the sound is great. I loved the option of just using the speaker as a Bluetooth because I live out in the country and wifi is a little unstable. By using it Bluetooth, I am still getting to use the high-quality sound and it sounds great!

The Sonos - Era 100 WiFi and Bluetooth Smart Speaker is truly a marvel for the small size of the speaker. It is easy to setup and works well with Spotify, YouTube and any other music app. The sounds that come out of this small speaker are unbelievably. Both booming bass and high treble all from this tiny little speaker which fits so nicely on my fireplace mantle. Voice commands also work so well either through the Sonos app or Amazon Alexa. This speaker is truly a wonder and I would recommend to anyone looking for a great sound but has a small space to put the speaker.
