Really Bad design choices

Good quality image - not great. Sony's choice of turn on behavior really stinks. Instead of being connected to the last HDMI port that was in use when the TV was turned off it starts up each time in the "home page" from which It takes many clicks to get back to the HDMI port I was last using, Profoundly bad design!! I'm also really getting tired of these little feet at the corners rather than a central pedestal base.

We wanted a smaller tv to have a dual gaming set up in our living room, and this ended up being the perfect size once everything was set up. The one downside is SONY does not let you program remotes, and since the existing tv is also a SONY you have to either manually hit the power button or get really good at remote angles if only using the one, but that’s a very specific usage case.

Very Good Narrow Focus TV

My TV is mounted on a swivel mount, so It can be aimed directly towards the viewer. This is a good thing, as the straight on picture is very good, but the off angle viewing is terrible. If you need a wide viewing angle, buy the X80 model. It has a different panel, that has a lesser quality picture, but a much wider viewing angle. For my use, I prioritized picture quality. Sound is very good. I like that the sound can be on and the screen turned off. Good for falling asleep while streaming music.

I’m a big fan of Sony - in large part because of the true color nature of the picture. I purchased this to replace an 8 year old Sony that was no longer working with the antenna. This is a very bright TV with a great UI - that being said - the contrast is not great which can lead to a washed out look and difficulties in balancing cool/warm tones.

Great TV With Massive Issue

Picture is great, sound is okay for a tv, and the 120hz is really good for gaming. Where my problem lies, is with this TV and another Sony TV that I owned, yes owned. The Wifi will randomly disconnect, for me my slightly older living room Sony TV did it twice a week and the X85K does it 4 or more times a night while watching anime. No it is not my internet or router, my other non Sony TVs do not have this problem. So if you don't plan on plugging an ethernet cable into it you will have these problems and I can't recommend the X85K or any Sony. Sadly the two Sony TVs I've had both had this problem. But everything else is great, which is why I can only give it a 3 star rating.

Best bang for your buck TV

The picture is super sharp, colors pop, and it handles bright rooms like a champ. Setup was quick, and the Google TV interface makes everything easy to find — no lag, no fuss. It’s fast, clean, and just works. Sound is solid for a built-in setup, and the 120Hz refresh rate makes a big difference for smooth motion. Fits perfectly in my space and looks great. If buying for gaming you must go through Bravia settings to enable VRR 120fps on hdmi 3 and 4. Hdmi 1 and 2 only 4k 60fp. Works great as pc monitor, currently using 3070 and 12700 I7. Using 1440p as my current setting, can easily read text but will admit I only use my pc for games. With Xbox series S works great for 120fps up to 4k. But Xbox series s not sure about the series X plug into the hdmi port 3 for VRR port 4 causes a random sound cut out glitch. Not a problem with TV but with Xbox. I think the sound is good enough but only using TV for games.

Was kind of mad until he used it for his first football games. No complaints since and he’s watching sports everyday on it. I have no issues with the remote; I used the tv "feet" not a wall mount and they seem stable enough.

The build quality is great. the picture and color with the HDR make God of War Ragnarok look as breathtaking as Santa Monica Studios intended. Use this TV with PS5, XBOXX, and the GTX 1070 has trouble with even getting 1080p.

I got this TV open box and the panel still looked pristine, aside from the irresistible open box price, I went with this Sony TV due to the superior processing and upscaling capabilities of this TV over LG and Samsung. I have always found Sony TVs to be truer to life than the competitors out the box as compared to their competitors which requires some tweaking to replicate similar picture quality. Hisense and TCL have been making sub $1000 TVs that give this one a run for its money, but the minimal improvements don't justify the craftsmanship and proven reliability of a Sony set.

the remote control does not have a backlight

The picture is clear with vibrant colors and the sound is great. The only thing that I don't like is that the remote control does not have a backlight so you can't see the buttons in the dark; hence the 4 star rating instead of a 5. If I had known that I would not have purchased this model. But the TV overall is great, and I am happy with it.

I usually hesitate to buy expensive TVs because they're mostly all about the same but not this one. Not only does the picture look great but the processor inside pretty fast. I never realized how slow my old TV is until I got this one. Also, I got a sound bar with it because I could barely hear my old TV. But I ended up taking the sound bar back because the sound is pretty good! Much better than I expected.
