Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the exceptional picture quality, vibrant colors, and clarity of the 49" Class (48.5" Diag.) - LED - 2160p - Smart - 4K Ultra HD TV with High Dynamic Range. Many users also appreciate its user-friendly setup, affordable price, and suitability for gaming. While some users find the remote control to be cheap-looking and poorly designed, the overall positive feedback on the TV's core features outweighs these concerns.

This is a great TV for gaming due to the input lag of 30+ms. The HDR ability is excellent on top of the 4K capabilities. The Android TV is stellar and is a $100 value on its own. Plus perks given if registered with sony.

Only as good as my 7 year old TV with added 4k

Unless you have a keen eye for detail and you actually pay attention to that stuff a lot, unlike myself. I'm more into enjoying the story and not minor visual detail. So I'd recommend the $300 cheaper lguh6100 which is very similar and only a slightly higher lag time @ 39 ms compared to Sony's 33 ms in 1080p and the LG is 34 ms compared to Sony's 33 ms lag time in 4k. The TV was solely bought for gaming along with the occasional movie. If you have money to blow buy the Sony. I did not have the money to blow but I wanted something I'd be happy with. Turns out I'd be happier with a cheaper TV and a $70 cheaper 5 year geek squad plan. My old TV was a 120hz 1080p JVC and I don't notice any visual difference with the exception of 4k content which is to new and expensive to concern yourself with if you're on a budget. $30 a movie, $8 to rent. Sony x800d 49"

DOES not support ANY Bluetooth Audio devices!!!

While the picture and appearance of the TV itself are absolutely incredible. I'm at a loss for why Sony felt that they didn't need to support ANY bluetooth audio (besides a single pair of their Sony headphones that come with some silly stand that sends the TV a signal). Sony dropped the ball BIG time with this one. For three years since this flagship TV has been available, one of the biggest questions that you will find online is "Why can't I get my BT headphones paired", or "why can't I get my BT audio speaker to pair up" - the questions are endless, but all have the exact same issue - and Sony doesn't care. On their community web support page, there are SIXTEEN pages dating back to the first rollout of these expensive TV's on this single issue! NONE of the sets have A2DP audio capabilities! This means that you cannot play games and listen via a bluetooth headset, or watch TV with a bluetooth headset - even Sony Playstation headphones! In 2017 what TV company rolls out their Flagship TV, without any ability to pair a wireless speaker system to it? Seriously they have and give NO explanation as to why this is. They also don't answer why their Asian models DO support BT audio! Yup, the same TV purchased in any Asian area or country, DOES have A2PD installed! Sony does not care! When I asked today (3/24/17) which bluetooth speaker will pair with my tv the response was quick. We are sorry, but your Android TV does not support Bluetooth Audio! I bought this 49" TV because in November we purchased a 75" 940D and liked what we chose. However, we have not gotten around to looking for a wireless sound system yet, so we didn't know that this format, simply wasn't in our machine. The 75" TV was over $5K!!! Now the smaller 49" 800D, was lower, but we still spent $850 dollars on it. I've been pairing up Bluetooth headphones on my Sharp Aquos TV's, since early 2000's without issues. Why on earth would a company like SONY not care if their customers were upset over not getting what they should have in their TV up and running? It get's confusing because the TV's DO have Bluetooth installed, but it's only for wireless keyboards and mice! They refuse to let any audio to pair (it would only take a firmware update to resolve the issue), but the 16 pages of outcry from their customers is falling on deaf ears at SONY HQ. In a time when everything is practically hooked up without wires, this is a far greater issue than Sony is letting on. WiFi audio is also not supported! If I could take this TV back I would! This is the correspondence that was sent by Sony this afternoon: "Thank you for contacting Sony Video and Sound Support. We hope you are doing well I understand that you would like to know Wireless Bluetooth Speaker's that are compatible with "XBR-49X800D". I am sorry to inform you that no Wireless Speakers are compatible with the Sony TV's. TV's Bluetooth can be used only to pair Wireless Keyboard and Wireless Mouse. "I really apologize for any disappointments. Please feel free to get back to us for further assistance if you face any difficulty. Thank you for choosing Sony and we appreciate your business with us. Regards, Lendell (C9ER)"

Hi CMac, thank you for your message. Sony takes into consideration all feedback to improve the performance and quality of our products and services. It is true that the Bluetooth headphones or speakers can't be paired to an Android TV. However, as a workaround, you can use a wireless headphone given that it has its own transmitter that can be connected to the AUDIO OUT port of your TV. Doesn't sit properly on its stand as the top tilts back a bit. Colors are dark and menu is very basic. Only has a 60ghz native refresh rate and the remote is a very clunky vhs inspired chunk of programmable plastic.

I read all the reviews here and expected a little more out of this TV. OTA looked decent. 4k streaming and 1080p Blueray did not look good at all. My very un-pickey wife noticed Bluerays looked pretty bad as well. For those looking for a very simple interface this tv is the ticket. Built in Roku is great. Traversing within the menus and loading content is pretty slow however. I ended up taking this TV back the day after I purchased and spent $250 more on a Sony 800D. 10x better picture and worth the money.

My family and I watch a lot of movies. i did not like the black levels of this TV in the slightest. Blacks were very subdued, almost brownish gray. I will be returning this TV as I just bought it 2 days ago. I followed calibration settings. Probably a nice TV but not for us. Might try the Samsung 7000 or if a good price shows up soon maybe a Samsung 8000? Not sure about Vizio...

1 out of 2 TVs worked

The first TV I got had intermittent WiFi operation. Work one day, stop the next. Resetting the TV helped, but only for 1 day. Returned it and got a new one that works perfectly. 3 stars because 1 defective out of 2 units is not good. I will give 5 stars to BestBuy for no hassle return, and 5 stars to the in-store Sony rep who worked with me to identify the issue.

Connection issues with XBox One S

Overall very nice TV. The only issue I have with this TV that I don't have with any of my other TV's is that when I turn my XBox One S on it does not connect to Xbox Live automatically on this TV. I have to hit restart console every time which is super annoying. I only have this issue on this specific TV, Xbox One S connects perfectly on my other Samsung TV's.
