No problems whatsoever with this TV. I had the option of purchasing the Samsung SUHD and decided on this TV since its more bang for the buck. The Triilluminos produces excellent pictures. The colors are not exaggerated and the interface simple since its like using a Playstation. Setup was a breeze. Be sure to purchase an excellent HDMI picture since that would be the key to your TV producing great picture quality.

This is a fantastic TV! Although this TV will soon be replaced by the next group of 4k TVs from Sony in their 2016 product line-up, it is still a great deal! This deal is one of the few from their 2015 line-up that included HDR support. The colors are vivid and on par with Samsung SUHD TVs. The upscaling from blu-rays is also quite good. With it being an edge-lit TV, there is some white elements around the edges but that is to be expected. It certainly does not take away from the picture quality. It will be interesting to see how the HDR support is once players are available along side 4k Blu-ray disks.

I had a Samsung 4K and felt guilty not getting a Sony. I wanted a good 4K and after experiencing the Samsung Vs. Sony ; Sony definitely has the 4K Tech. on LOCK! TRUELY. Sony motion technology is much better then the Samsung hands down. You can definitely see the difference. The color on the Sony is really vivid and define while the Samsung just looks fake and seems like the picture is trying to keep up with the motion and color contrast. This Sony is a great intro level 4K Television that will blow your mind. Has many Android Apps and I can control my Tv and pair my Samsung Galaxy 6+ EDGE phone to it. It's TRUELY the BEST. Especially when you have a Sony PS4 for a seemless gaming and Blu-ray player in one its OUTRAGEOUS! I can go on FOREVER but if your serious about stepping into 4K Go SONY or GO HOME. Seriously, you won't feel guilty and you will go to sleep knowing you have the BEST tech sitting in your home waiting for you to put on your 3D Glasses and just indulge in the goodness of what defines 4K. SONY 4K ALL DAY, EVERYDAY! Thanks!

Overall a very good TV. Excellent Picture. I use it with a Sony Sound bar. Otherwise, the TV speakers are pretty good. I live in a one bedroom apartment. My main issue is with a touchy remote and some features that are not entirely intuitive. I also haven't gotten around to syncing all the remotes as everything I have is Sony (TV, DVD player and sound system... all bought together). Also, has 3D but no glasses with it and you need active 3d glasses. haven't tried that yet, but i assume it will be excelent. I'm getting more used to it and may think it's 5 stars later. Will see.

I have researched 4k tvs for a year and decided on this one that fits my needs which are budget, features, and size. Its one of the few 4k tvs that are true 4k resolution at 4096 × 2304 than most 4ks that are 3840 × 2160. The apps built into this tv are great and after a couple of updates work and stream perfect! Netflix in 4K is one of the few services that make the most of Ultra HD. Since there is not a 4k player on the market yet only Netflix, Amazon Prime and YouTube will be your main sources of 4k content. The TV itself is super light weight and was easy to mount to my TV stand for 55 inches and lower. The only gripe i have is that it does not come with 3d glasses. Since it is active 3d those glasses are expensive, and not to mention Best Buy doesnt sell any 3D Sony glasses in store and are all sold out online which is ridiculous. Not even the TR250 glasses will work with this TV. I have found that the Samsung bluetooth 3d glasses for $19.99 and $49.99 work perfectly though. The 3D also looks great and doesnt hurt your eyes. Great price on this also for $1199-1299, i was going to wait on the 2016 version but there is not much they can do to make this TV better. Colors look great and darks pop out whether the light is on or off. I highly recommend this to anybody looking for a 4k 3d tv.

Since I have always owned Sony televisions, I am partial to them. However, my last purchase was 13 years ago, so it was time to upgrade. I had looked online specifically at Best Buy because of the customer reviews and ratings. This TV got very high marks and I agree 100%. The picture is beautiful and on HD broadcasts it is exceptional due to Sony's upscaling. The sales person was very knowledgeable (thanks Clara!) without being the least bit pushy. Sony has it right with this model and it fits perfectly in my living room. I also bought the Sony - BDPS6500 - Streaming 3D Wi-Fi Built-In Blu-ray Player and it also upscales with the TV for a truly 3D experience from Blu-ray discs without any 3D glasses. The first movie I watched was Insurgent and I almost reached in to the TV, the picture was that good. You can't go wrong with this TV!

Best Value for UHD (4K, Wider Color Gamut, HDR)

I've had the 55 inch 850C for about six weeks now. This TV looks excellent. The colors are amazing, and the Utra High Definition (UHD) content streaming from Netflix and Amazon is absolutely incredible. The 850C comes with the three characteristics that make it qualify as UHD: it has the 4K Resolution (which is the absolute minimum requirement to be considered UHD), a Wider Color Gamut (Sony TRILUMINOS Display), and it is compatible with High Dynamic Range (HDR) signals. The 850C does not have local dimming, so other high end models that do may display the HDR signal better, but early tests with Amazon's HDR content show that it looks very good on the 850C. With HDR content, whites are bright and the blacks are rich and dark, taking advantage of the high contrast ratio that HDR is known for, and also taking advantage of the TRILUMINOS Display this TV offers. This TV does an excellent job of up-scaling HD content as well. Blu-rays look better than ever with the extra resolution. DirecTV content is hit or miss, depending on the native signal of the content and the channel. Football looks great. I don't use the preset Sports setting because it causes the colors to look unrealistic. Instead, I have my own personal settings and motion and color are fantastic. I also use this TV for gaming on a PS4 and Wii U, and input lag is not noticeable when I have the picture display set to Game mode. I can't comment about the sound because I have everything going through a receiver for 5.1 surround sound. My consoles and DirecTV are connected to the receiver, and all go to the TV through the ARC input channel (HDMI 4), and audio from the Android TV content (Netflix, Amazon, etc) goes into the receiver via digital optical cable. Everything works great so far. What prevents this TV from getting five stars is the buggy interface. I will often have to reboot the TV to get the Android apps like Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon working from the home screen. Sometimes they will have difficulty signing in, or won't provide audio, or other weird things. While not necessarily a deal-breaker (only because these issues will usually get fixed with a reboot), it is definitely an annoyance, and one that I hope a future firmware update clears up. This being a smart TV, you will be getting periodic updates to improve its performance. Upon initial setup, expect an hour-long update to take place- this will update the software to be compatible with HDR content and will bring the Android interface version up to date. After the big update on setup, they usually take just a few minutes and don't happen that often. We live in a time where TVs are now computers and pretty much any UHD TV you get is going to be connected and maintained online. The 850C is no different. And I should also mention that while the colors do look amazing, especially with UHD content, sometimes the reds can be over-saturated if using the BT.2020 color space to take advantage of the wider color gamut . You can mitigate this issue by adjusting the RGB (Red, Green and Blue) gains and biases, and the RGB offsets (this TV gives you complete control over the display), but it will take some digging and knowledge of what exactly you are adjusting. Overall, this TV is a great value and I would recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade to UHD without breaking the bank. To be able to hit all three marks (4K Resolution, Wider Color Gamut, and HDR) for under $1200 is an incredible deal, and the best bang for your buck available right now. I can't wait to pair this TV with an UHD Blu-ray player when they get released in 2016. I am absolutely happy with my purchase.

So I got this as my Samsung UHD 8550 panel went out on me, so I got this as I had my eye on this Sony model originally when it was the 850B. But very happy with this so far, it had much better coloring than the Samsung did, the TV side of things works great and I enjoy the added TV guide feature. The black levels are pretty great on this, plus the sound is pretty good as well. I live in a 650 sq ft apartment, and I sit maybe 8 feet away from the TV and I never have issues hearing it even when it is below volume 10, I do need to turn it up sometimes when I put on a movie on Netflix but other than that works great. The Android smart aspect is amazing as it brings in the Google Store making it easier to download apps on Android. The only CON so far is the new Android based system, I know conflicting statement from the previous sentence. I like it but the problem you run into is if you leave an app open and turn off the TV, it goes into a stand-by mode which is all well and dandy when it works. The problem I run into is that when I usually do this and turn on my TV the next day it freezes on this and I have to physically unplug the TV and plug it back in to reboot the Android OS. Other problem I ran into is apps like WatchESPN and FoxSports and HBO, are included on here but not all carriers (Xfinity, ATT, and etc) are supporting the Android TV market yet so you can't get access to them on here, which is a bummer since I'm trying to consolidate everything into this tv(trying to not use the Amazon Fire TV Stick for just those and then the TV for Netflix). Anyways that is the only downside for me on this TV so far.

I am beyond pleased with this TV! The picture quality is amazing. After reading the other reviews, I was a bit apprehensive but I am really happy with this purchase. The TV does all of the work at setup. I know many reviewers mentioned the lack of a user's manual as a negative but I found it to be a non-issue. I do like that you can access Netflix directly from the TV. I recommend upgrading to Netflix Premium. The HD selections are great and they do have Ultra HD programming as well! My only complaint: Sony used to provide 2 pair of 3D glasses with their 3D televisions. That is no longer the case. I truly believe that spending over 1k for a television warrants the inclusion of the eyewear.

Overall this is a great TV. I read reviews about apps not working and not being able to stream 4K, but that's not true. There is, however, limited 4K content thus you must temper expectations. Some cable providers don't even offer 4K yet and the content is limited on Netflix and Amazon Prime, but wow does it look incredible. I had some issues getting the 3D to work and had some issues with the apps; however, even though it's annoying to restart the TV (unplug and plug back in), it has remedied any issue I've had so far. Furthermore, the performance of the TV has improved with each software update. Ultimately the picture and 3D is outstanding. I rated it 4 stars because of the fact I've had to reboot the TV a few times, but there is no denying the quality of the picture.

We wanted to upgrade to a larger TV and also wanted a smart TV so we would have internet options for viewing. My only criticism of the newer TVs like this one is that they don't come with a standard web browser. Instead, there are pre-set internet options. Still, it does make it easy to access the pre-sets, such as HBO Go (but not Showtime Anytime). Picture is very sharp, colors are vivid. We purchased this particular brand and model based on recommendations in Consumer Reports, as well as advice from our Best Buy sales associate. We are extremely happy with the new TV. Our only minor issue was that after we got the set out of the box (and had recycled and/or trashed all the packing materials), we discovered that the TV was a little bit too wide to just slide into our entertainment center. However, we were able to angle the TV into the slot, connect the cables, and then straighten it in the slot, thus ensuring that it will NEVER accidentally fall out of the opening (which is a nice safety feature, actually). The other feature which may be minor to some is that the TV is elevated a few inches, which allows me to dust underneath it with a swiffer type duster. Again, just a nice feature that was important to me, since I could not dust around our previous TV without angling it out of the slot, which was always a risky procedure with a big TV.

This television is great. It is very clear. It is actually so clear you can see blemishes on the actors and actresses. It has a ton of features built right in. I can cast my laptop directly to the TV. It also has a ton of streaming apps loaded on it. The only down side is the stand for the TV. it is very flimsy and the TV sways back and fourth every time the door is opened.

I have been eyeing a 4k set for a while and am glad i waited and got this set. Watching regular content benefits from the settings with more vibrant color and true blacks. I have tested out the 4k content on the Netflix and amazon video apps built in the set and the videos are very sharp. The android system is easy to navigate and the Google cast feature makes it very easy to send a video from my phone to the TV. I had am old sony 3dtv from 2010 that i upgraded from and the 3d on this blows it away. The old one had issues with ghosting on the 3d but this one looks like theater quality with no issues and it does not use the old IR tech for 3d so you can actually use other brands off 3d glasses. Instead of spending all the money on 1 set of Sony glares i bought Samsung ones that look the same but were 1/3 the price.

This TV is fantastic overall. It has good black levels, light uniformity, and the best 4k upscaling. Samsung and LG cannot compete with Sony's new processor, and since they've been in the 4k market the longest, their 4k looks the best. The new operating system did need some updates, but this doesn't take very long at all. I haven't had any problems using Netflix, Hulu, or anything other streaming service so far. I downloaded the TV side view application for my iPhone and it's awesome being able to put my program guide on the app. You can control everything on the TV from your phone without a direct line of sight, which is pretty neat. I definitely haven't been able to explore all the features the TV has to offer, there are so many settings and services to play around with. Live football mode is a great way to make everything on the screen look as realistic as possible - I recommend trying this out when watching sports or action movies. I use a sound bar with the TV, and I have the Sony CT780. The TV speakers are actually decent, but a sound bar is still a much better option to pair with the TV. Bravia sync works well with any device hooked up to the TV, so you don't have to use two remotes to turn on the whole system.

My husband and I love this television. It was a big jump in quality since we haven't purchased a television for six years. We bought the rechargeable Samsung 3D glasses for it, and they work great and charge fast. This television also comes with a remote that you can talk into for searching which is convenient for us. You also don't need a soundbar for this television. I purchased one since the salesman said we needed one to hear the television. They said the television is thin therefore the speakers are small. After the television was installed the sound was more than enough. Unless you want surround sound, I really don't see a point on buying a soundbar. We returned ours. One downfall that bothers us is that you can't search for movies or shows as a whole like we did on Roku. We have to search in each section such as Netflix or Hulu. Other than that we love it especially the 3D.

For the price of this unit ($1199 on sale), it produces a great picture. My goal in upgrading to a new TV was to get something a bit bigger than my current 47", go 4K and retain 3D capability. The 55" size is fantastic for my room and is essentially the go-to size for TVs these days. 4K looks fantastic via streaming through the built-in Netflix and YouTube apps. The Google TV interface is actually pretty good and I appreciate having something more open-source and updatable compared to a closed system like all other TVs have. I really haven't ran into any bugs, everything works as expected. I appreciate the built-in tuner and guide, since I don't have cable/satellite, just an antenna to pick up locals. While this TV is said to support HDR, it doesn't have the proper hardware to really do so. I've ran some test HDR clips through a USB drive and I would avoid this set if you're looking for HDR as a major feature. I fully understand what HDR is and while I haven't seen proper HDR yet on a TV set, I'm pretty sure this particular TV is not what is intended for proper HDR. HDR clips look washed out, as if the contrast was decreased tremendously to bring out shadow detail. Not a big deal for me, as I'm not really that big on the HDR train. Black levels on this TV are what you would expect for an edge-lit TV. Out-of-the-box colors are ridiculously vivid/saturated, I recommend toning these down immediately. Overall happy with my purchase, looking forward to using this TV for a few years until OLED comes down in price and the technology improves.
