We specifically chose this TV as it has the best refresh rate, the deepest color depths, blackest blacks, and best resolution without the fake saturation you get on LG and Samsung sets and we have not been disappointed in a single way, shape, or form. This has been a monumental step up for sports and high frame rate video games and movies with dark and deep black images. I would gladly recommend this to anyone, and have done so since purchasing. 100% satisfied with the purchase to this point, I just want more and more 4k media now.

I have always been a Samsung guy but that changed with this TV. I entered the store with my heart set on a new Samsung but after comparing pictures, pricing, features and the recommendation of a very knowledgeable Best Buy associate I went with this baby and I couldn't be happier. Love the picture, feature/functionality and the way it seamlessly works with the Sony sound bar. I can't wait to upgrade my bedroom TV to a Sony too.

Sony has got everything in this box, a future proof 4K UHD TV. The color and up converting capability from the model is incredible, SD picture is ok but all HD video looks great. has full smart operating system for you to use any streaming provider and has the next generation HDMI ports to handle devices you want to plug in. I am thrilled with this Television.

Love Sony but we returned this TV and purchased a 55 inch Sony 1080p with a 120 refresh rate. The 4K made our blu ray films look odd. Like it was all filmed in a studio. The Sony 4K was also dark. In between the purchase/return of the two Sony TV's we tried the 55 inch 4K Samsung with UHD. Beautiful picture, brighter background but again, all the films looked like studio productions. The Sony 1080 we ended up with is just fine but it is still a little darker than its Samsung counter part. Samsungs 1080p is brighter but the picture isn't as crisp.

The picture quality is great with 4K content--however on HD 1080p upscaling even from Blu-Ray it's hard to see much difference in clarity because it's still a 1080p signal, but I can see a stark difference in vibrancy of color and contrast in dark tones. I wanted a tv that could really show a more true-to-life color and handle contrast. I'm sick of watch movies and shows where scenes are dark and my old Sharp just went splotchy in the dark areas of the picture. My only complaint about the TV is that my home menu keeps sticking/responding slowly/or just freezing on me. I need to talk to Sony about this because I like to use The smart features and apps a lot and this experience is ruining part of the reason why I bought this tv in the first place. I have to unplug the tv sometimes to reset it because the remotes just stop responding when the tv freezes. It's annoying at best, but for the price of the TV I still want everything to work correctly.

I was in the market for a new TV. I have a 50" Samsung which is around 7 yrs old. The Samsung is a highly rated TV, so I was looking for another Samsung or a Vizio. After talking to a very knowledgable Best Buy employee ( I had all my questions and specs on different TV's written down), he asked me what I am into when it comes to watching TV. I told him, and he steered me to the Sony (which I was not even considering because of price, etc). End result was, even though the Sony was a little more than the other units, it was easily the hands down one to buy. The most difficult part was putting the stand for the TV together. The Sony manual is terrible, and the print so small, I almost needed a magnifying glass. (putting the stand together is definetely a 2 person job) After that, the rest was easy. The picture is fantastic, and the speakers are fine. I looked into buying a soundbar, but in my case, it would have to be placed on the same stand as the TV, basically covering up the bottom of the TV screen. I do have a surround sound system, so I can really crank up a movie, etc. if I want to do that. I still have not "played" entitrely with all the features, but trust me on this: the picture will blow your mind away. Look at the customer reviews for this model. It has something like 2000+ 4.6 to 4.7 out of 5 rating. The most reviews of any 4K TV in the 55" range. I also have to give thanks to a second Best Buy employee who also gave me good information. I was very pleased with the whole experience.

Stepping up from 1080p to 4k is amazing and this Tv does it with all the bells and whistles The smart features... think 55" cellphone which isn't a surprise since its an android powered device. This makes its setup and use pretty intuitive. The colors and clarity are amazing! It is so clear and bright images on the screen have true depth. Just amazing. I'm very glad I bought it and would recommend it to anyone!

I researched all the top brands and it came down to sony vs. samsung. The Sony won out by a slim margin because of the price. To get the same motion rate in a samsung you would have to pay at least $400 more than the sony. I watch a bunch of sports and nothing is more irritating than an image of the ball stuttering across the screen. This doesn't happen on this tv. The Sony is also a high quality product and I am a sony fan as all my sony products last a long time. So much so that they become obsolete with new technology. I'm talking 10+ years. Started it up and setup was a breeze. The update took about a half hour, but that's no big deal. The picture quality is amazing, the sound is good and I love all the app features and screen mirroring. Have been using it a couple of months now and it is working great, syncs with my network and blu-ray player without any problems. I would get this over any of the other brands. Even my wife who is a samsung fan is now sold on how great this tv is and how well it works.

I bought this tv back in February after I exhaustively researched all options and reading many reviews. I've been very happy with it so far. It is fairly easy to set up as well. All 4 HDMI inputs are HDCP 2.2 compatible and I believe the tv is HDR compliant now with a recent firmware update. I'm still playing around with picture settings to get more accurate color but will probably end up having a calibration done at some point. This is a great 4K tv for the price and I highly recommend this product!

I love this tv and all its features and picture quality. The sound it emits is not loud enough for us though so we purchased a Sony sound bar. It's awesome now but I m giving 4 stars opposed to 5 due to tv sound without soundbar. I understand though from the salesperson that all flat screen TV's now have that issue due to the sleek profile, I.e. No where to put the loud speakers. That being said I would give 4.5 stars. Gotta leave a little room for improvement. Easy to hook up as well even for non-technical people.

Waited almost a year to buy this TV, knew would go on sale once the new TV line up is released and sure enough, I got it for $999.99 after seeing it selling at its original price of $1599. With all that waiting I knew everything I needed to know about the TV through the online manuals and reviews so when I took it out of the box and setup it up, it was the easiest thing. The only thing that took time was waiting for it to download the new updated (which I had the option of doing later but choose not to). With all the reviews posted on here already, there's really nothing else that I could add to describe how awesome the TV is. My only advise is if you like getting a great deal on good brands of TVs, best to find out when the new lineup is usually released and plan according. I've buying electronics over 25 years ago when I was a teenager, granted in those years I was a compulsive shopper plus I wasn't educated enough on when was the best time of year to buy certain items. Fast forward to today being older and wiser and having a wife and 3 kids, every buck save is more money toward a better life for my entire family.

I was on the lookout for a good 4k TV for a while. I bit my tongue until i moved out of my apartment into a big house. The time was right and the deed had to be committed. I looked into a lot of reviews and so close to buying a Samsung, I thought why not go to a store ask them what their opinion was between an LG, Samsung and a Sony. They all pointed to a Sony, as they thought it had fewer returns than other brands and personally took a liking to Sony's brilliant picture quality. To be fair, the rest of the TVs at the store looked similar and unless one had done a bit of research, it would have been difficult to just purchase on the spot. With a little bit of background and more opinion from the blue shirts, I did go ahead and buy this wonderful product. Its gotten the Netflix update and the remotes come with a dedicated Netflix button on these. picture quality is stunning. You have the best of apps but frankly Netflix, Amazon and Youtube is all I care about. I set my picture quality to Vivid most of the time and I feel like it does a great job for movies and sports and pretty much stuck to it for the last month and half. I dont own a sound bar but I have needed one so far. About 35 volume is good for an action film. I am not sure if others have encountered this issue or not but the only thing that bugs me so far is that I have to sign in everytime I have to use the Netflix app. If not this this a great product.

When I walked into a Best Buy store, I was planning on buying a mid-level TV. The associates helping me did a great job of explaining the benefits of a 4k. Then they showed me the picture difference and I was sold! This is a great quality TV, the picture is mind blowing and it's definitely worth a little bit of a splurge.

This is not only the smart 4K android TV but also 3D -- which was important for me since we have a large 3D library. Quality is typical Sony from hardware standpoint. The added touch surface remote is horrible -- not truly a multitouch surface, rather just swiping capability. Bought a harmony 650 anyway to replace all remotes. Picture quality out of box was not great. After much tweaking I got it to look as good as my 4 year old LG 3D 1080p TV (unbelievable tv even today). In 1080p Blu-Ray, quality looks on par with other top tier TVs. 4K video is really where this tv shines. I bought this tv since on sale and future proof for 4K -- Amazon prime and Netflix now offering 4K (almost all tv we watch is streaming). Big bonus. Fast processor. Android is ok -- but for me, I'm a TiVo person and we like that set-top for all our streaming needs along with an Apple TV. If you have nothing else, then out of box this tv is loaded with all features and software to have a great streaming experience. So, Quality 5 stars Picture quality 4 stars (shouldnhe better than my 4 y/o tv) Features 5 stars Touch Remote 2 stars 4K quality 5 stars. KJC

Wonderful picture quality and incredibly easy to set up. I would have given this TV 5 stars except I was disappointed that the sound bar blocks the TV remote sensor when using the TV stand. I could understand this being an issue if the two were made by different manufacturers, but the sound bar is also a Sony product.

I did major research on 4K HDTV's and was on the fence between Sony and Samsung... glad I went with the Sony, because of the 3D - which is amazing to watch IMAX blu-ray's - it also enhances the picture frame speed for clarity when setting picture to sports game mode. Watch the IMAX Grand Canyon video after buying TV - 3D glasses and Blu-ray can be found on Amazon.

Awesome picture and so far working ok. My big problem is every once in awhile the tv freezes and does not let me turn off in hopes it will reset it. After a few minutes it goes off and then I am able to turn on and the set seems to have no problems!! Never had this problem with my last Sony. Strange, not sure if it is the software or is it the TV electronics. Downloads are a 30 minutes plus but at least it tells you and asks if you are ready for the 30 minute delay.
