TV issues, 3rd party installers are horrible

I had this TV installed by third party installers from Best Buy. It was absolute waste. The first team set the TV up in less than 5 minutes, didn’t go through any of the actual setup. TV kept freezing, shutting off, going back to Home Screen on its own. When the voices on shows started sounding like robots I thought I may be the TV. I got it exchanged, I told the store employee I didn’t want third party installers. They didn’t listen and I ended up with third party AGAIN. I paid all that money for the tv and install just to get the same treatment, and have the same issues. I’ll never know if third party set it up wrong, or if the TV is junk. I have to change the input everyday and it won’t connect to WiFi automatically. This is the only device i. The house I have issues with. They didn’t ask me what position I wanted the stand, and they left all the back pieces off and peaced out. Absolutely awful experience after spending close to $2000.00 see pics below. I had to move the feet on my own. My mother got the same tv installed by an actual geek squad member and doesn’t have these issues.
Hi MelissaR, We sincerely apologize for the unfortunate experience you had with the installation and performance of your Sony BRAVIA 8. It’s disappointing to hear that the third-party installation service did not meet your expectations and that you encountered multiple issues with your TV. Our team is aware of the problem and are actively working on a solution. In the meantime, we recommend trying the following steps:
Set the Bravia Sync to OFF On the remote control, press the (Quick Settings) button and select Settings → Channels & Inputs → External inputs → BRAVIA Sync settings→ turn OFF BRAVIA Sync control Use a CEC-less HDMI cable or adapter to prevent the TV from rebooting or restarting. Set The SAMBA Interactive TV to OFF On the remote control, press the (Quick Settings) button and select Settings→ System → Samba Interactive TV → turn OFF Samba Interactive TV.
We encourage you to periodically check our support site for updates regarding any improvement measures.
We are investigating the issue and working on a future software update to address it. Should you need further assistance, please email us at [email protected] with the following details:

Horrible service on a $1,400 defective TV

Stay away – Horrible service on a $1,400 defective TV
I am extremely disappointed with the service at this Best Buy location. I purchased a $1,400 SONY television here in middle of January, and by February, the TV completely stopped working. When I came in seeking help with a defective product that failed within 60 days, the customer service team was completely unhelpful.
The worst part was the young supervisor’s response. Instead of assisting with a solution or helping me navigate the warranty process for a high-end purchase, he literally told me to "just sell the defective TV" because there was nothing they could do.
It is unacceptable to spend this kind of money at a major retailer only to be told to offload a broken product to someone else when it fails almost immediately. I expected much better support and accountability for a premium electronic purchase. Avoid this location if you value your money and decent customer service. I will never buy anything at this place and will make sure to tell my friends and family not to come to this place.
Hi GustavoP, Thank you for your comment! We're thrilled to hear that you're enjoying the performance of your BRAVIA 8. We understand your concerns about the volume from the TV's built-in speakers. To elevate your audio experience, we suggest considering a soundbar or a surround sound system, as they can greatly enhance sound quality. We truly value your feedback and will keep it in mind for future improvements. Thank you for choosing Sony! - Romeo

After my previous Samsung developed a backlight defect after only four years, I was looking for a replacement focused on longevity and performance. After speaking with a sales rep, I was convinced to go with the Sony BRAVIA 8 55" OLED, and I am thoroughly impressed.
Picture Quality & Performance: The picture quality is phenomenal. It offers striking contrast and vibrant colors without that artificial, "over-sharpened" look that can make high-end TVs look cheap. It handles every source beautifully, from built-in streaming and Apple TV to antenna channels and even my Sony VCR.
Smart Features & Integration: I’ve grown frustrated with manufacturers forcing Roku or Fire TV platforms onto users. However, Sony’s Google TV integration is a breath of fresh air. It’s simple and unobtrusive. I can access my apps easily, but I can also adjust TV settings and inputs without being buried in the Google software.
Apple Users: It recognized my Apple TV immediately in 4K and supports Apple Home integration, allowing me to turn the TV off from another room.
Audio: It still includes an optical port (which many brands are removing), and it syncs perfectly with my older third-party surround sound system.
Design & Build Quality: You can really feel the "Sony soul" in the construction.
-> Physical Build: The unit is tightly bonded and feels secure. Unlike many modern TVs that have a "bulge" at the bottom, this model is generally uniform in thickness.
-> Mounting: The VESA mount is centered rather than at the bottom, making it much easier to hide wires and hardware. It is heavier than my last 55-inch, but that speaks to the premium OLED panel and heat management.
-> The Screen: It is a glossy finish, but in a room with indirect sunlight, I haven't had any issues with glare. The reflection shows no warping, which is a testament to the screen's flatness.
The Remote: The remote is straightforward and tactile. The hard plastic buttons provide a satisfying "click," so there’s no second-guessing if the TV received the command. My only minor gripe is that I wish it were backlit, but otherwise, it’s excellent.
The "Sony Ecosystem" Advantage: One big draw for me was knowing many movies were filmed using Sony CineAlta cameras and mastered on Sony professional monitors. There is a clear synergy here; because Sony understands the beginning of the filmmaking process, this TV reproduces the director's intent without the artificial processing found on other sets. It feels like the TV is "speaking the same language" as the content, which is likely why the contrast and colors feel so authentic rather than overblown.
Final Verdict: While many people opt for the cheapest screen available, I wanted something that would last and elevate the films I love. I’ve owned it for a month, and it is easily the best TV I have ever owned. If you value build quality and a natural, cinematic image, this is the one.
It is great to hear that your transition to the BRAVIA 8 has been such a premium experience! We truly appreciate such a detailed breakdown, especially your observations on how our technology ensures you see exactly what the creator intended without artificial processing. It is wonderful to know that the Google TV integration, Apple Home support, and even your Sony VCR are all working together so seamlessly. We also take great pride in that "uniform thickness" and solid build quality you noticed—it’s all part of our commitment to sophisticated design and heat management for our OLED panels.
Thank you for trusting Sony.

The "Everything Just Works" OLED: Why the Sony Bra

Having spent some time with the Sony Bravia 8, I can see why it’s stayed so popular as a go-to Oled for Sony customers even into late 2025. It really strikes that perfect balance for someone who wants a high-end cinematic experience without having to obsess over technical settings.
Here is a breakdown of what makes this TV feel so special:
That Signature Sony Picture
The first thing you notice is the processing. A lot of people talk about "motion handling," but in person, it just means that sports and fast-paced action movies look incredibly smooth without that weird "soap opera" effect you get on cheaper screens. The XR Processor does this magic trick where it makes regular HD streaming look almost like native 4K—it’s crisp and clean without looking over-processed.
Perfect Blacks and "Pop"
Since it's an OLED, the blacks are truly "inky." If you’re watching a movie with a space scene or a dark thriller, the background is pitch black, which makes the colors and highlights absolutely pop. I’ve seen some reviews nitpicking the peak brightness, but honestly, in a standard living room, it is plenty bright. In fact, during HDR scenes, it can actually be a bit of a "torch" in a dark room!
Sound That Actually Works
One of the coolest features—and something I wish more brands did—is the Acoustic Surface Audio+. Instead of tiny speakers hidden in the bottom, the actual screen vibrates to produce sound. It makes a huge difference; when a character talks, the voice actually feels like it’s coming from their mouth, not from the floor. For most people, you won’t even feel the need to buy a soundbar right away.
Why It’s Still a Great Buy in 2025
Even though there are newer "Mark II" versions out there now, the original Bravia 8 has held its ground as the standard OLED powerhouse. It’s incredibly reliable, the Google TV interface is snappy and easy to use, and it just feels like a premium piece of tech in your living room.
Summary of what owners love:
• Color Accuracy: It looks "right" straight out of the box—no professional calibration needed.
• Build Quality: It has a sleek, thin design with a versatile stand that can be raised if you do decide to add a soundbar later.
• Gaming: It’s basically the best friend for a PS5, with features like Auto HDR Tone Mapping that make games look stunning instantly.
If you’re looking for a TV that makes everything—from Netflix to gaming—look like a theater experience, the Bravia 8 is a fantastic investment.
It is truly wonderful to know that the BRAVIA 8 is providing you with such a premium, cinematic experience even into late 2025! We are thrilled that the XR Processor’s motion handling and upscaling are hitting the mark for you, and that the Acoustic Surface Audio+ is making your favorite movies feel more immersive. It is fantastic to hear that the "inky" blacks and seamless PS5 integration have made this such a worthwhile investment for your home.
Thank you for being such a thoughtful Sony customer and for sharing such a detailed breakdown of what makes this TV special.

The Sony Bravia 8 is an amazing woled tv. The tv has sonya one slate design making it, to my knowledge the thinest Sony Oled ever released. This tv is actually and oled evo tv with better brightness. It is mosy likley the same panel found in the Lg C4 oled. That tv is abiut 1040 to 1,100 depending on who reviewed it. It this years sony is just has bright. The build quality is premium and even rhe bezles have an Embroidered like pattern all across them giving an even more premium fuel. I purchased a 55 inch TV and this is the first time that a 55 inch Sony tv that i bought had multiple feet positions So you can fit it on a narrower tv stand if you won’t wall-mount it. The last thing I’d like to touch on is the overhauled Menu system. Last year’s a95L tv actually is running the 2024 system software. It’s a bit easier to find things this year. Much like the LG C4, The extra brightness alone and superior build quality might be enough of a reason to upgrade from last years a80L or the prior years a80K , or A80J. I definitely recommend this TV. The TV is $200 off right now which is a decent discount. It will likely drop lower during Black Friday so if you can wait you’ll definitely get a better deal.

Television has long been a cornerstone of entertainment and information, evolving significantly over the years. Modern TVs offer an impressive array of features that enhance the viewing experience, from crystal-clear 4K resolution and high dynamic range (HDR) to smart functionality that integrates streaming services, apps, and voice controls. Whether you're into movies, sports, or binge-watching your favorite shows, today's televisions offer something for everyone.
One of the standout features of current TVs is the image quality. 4K resolution is now the standard in most models, and with the addition of HDR, the visual experience is stunning, offering deep contrasts and vibrant colors that immerse you in whatever you're watching. OLED and QLED technology have further pushed the boundaries of screen brightness, contrast, and color accuracy, making TVs look more lifelike than ever.
Another major development is the smart TV functionality. With built-in Wi-Fi, streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ are easily accessible without the need for an external device. Many smart TVs now support voice assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant, allowing you to control your TV with simple commands, from changing channels to adjusting volume or even searching for specific content.
Sound quality has also seen improvement, though this remains an area where many TVs fall short compared to their visual capabilities. While many models come with decent built-in speakers, a soundbar or external audio system often enhances the experience. In larger rooms, a home theater setup can truly elevate your viewing.
On the downside, the price can be a significant factor for those looking to upgrade. Premium models with the latest tech, such as OLED or 8K resolution, can cost several thousand dollars. For many, however, mid-range 4K TVs offer an excellent balance of price and performance.
Overall, the modern television offers an impressive blend of features and capabilities, making it a must-have in homes for entertainment, education, and connectivity. Whether you're upgrading to enjoy better picture quality or embracing the smart features of today's TVs, they continue to be an essential part of our daily lives.
Hi Pastel, Thank you for your detailed review of the Sony BRAVIA 8! We appreciate your insights into the evolution of modern TVs and the impressive array of features they offer.
The BRAVIA 8 model indeed stands out with its stunning 4K resolution and HDR capabilities, providing deep contrasts and vibrant colors that enhance the viewing experience. The integration of smart functionality, including access to popular streaming services and support for voice assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant, makes it a versatile choice for any entertainment setup.
We acknowledge your point about sound quality, and while the built-in speakers are designed to deliver a good audio experience, pairing the TV with a soundbar or external audio system can further elevate the sound quality, especially in larger rooms.
Regarding the price, we understand that premium models can be a significant investment. However, the BRAVIA 8 offers an excellent balance of price and performance, making it a valuable addition to any home.
We are glad to hear that the BRAVIA 8 meets your expectations and continues to be an essential part of your entertainment experience. Thanks for choosing Sony! -Sam

I recently purchased this TV and I am absolutely blown away by the quality and performance—it’s everything I wanted and more! From the moment I turned it on, the picture quality was jaw-dropping. The colors are incredibly vibrant, blacks are deep and rich, and the 4K resolution makes every scene feel lifelike and immersive.
The smart features are fast and intuitive. Apps load quickly, the interface is clean and easy to navigate, and voice control works like a charm. I was able to set it up in minutes and customize it exactly how I like. Streaming, gaming, watching sports—this TV handles it all effortlessly.
If you're looking for a TV that combines stunning visuals, smart technology, and premium sound in one sleek package—this is it. Worth every penny!

We are very happy with our purchase. The colors look more natural than other brands we compared. Because of the TV’s flat design, including the back, it sits very close to the wall when mounted, which looks great. The built-in speakers are reasonable for a small room, though we prefer deeper surround sound with more bass. We plan to continue using the TV speakers until we find a good sound system at a reasonable price.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful 4-star review! We're delighted to hear that you're enjoying the natural colors and sleek design of your Sony BRAVIA 8. It's great that the flat back allows for a clean, close-to-wall mount—that really does enhance the overall look. We appreciate your feedback on the built-in speakers and understand the desire for richer surround sound. We hope you find the perfect sound system soon to complement your excellent TV experience.
Thank you for choosing Sony and enjoy your viewing!

I am very happy with this TV. Like others often do, I spent a great deal of time researching and the Sony Bravia 8 was the best match for me and my budget. I hired the Geek Squad to deliver and set it up and, WOW, the picture is beyond amazing. This is a sharp looking TV and I like the two options for the feet placement. I also found the audio to be better than I expected. Several days after I ordered the TV there was a price drop and Best Buy refunded me the difference. I appreciate the great service I received from Best Buy and am thoroughly enjoying this incredible Sony TV!
We're thrilled to hear that the Sony K55XR80 is a perfect fit for you! It's wonderful to know that Geek Squad's delivery and setup surpassed your expectations, and that you're enjoying the breathtaking picture quality, sleek design, and exceptional audio. We're also glad you received a price drop refund from Best Buy. Your satisfaction means a lot to us, and we hope you continue to enjoy your Sony TV for many years to come!

Solid Panel With a Few Quirks

The Bravia 8 has a lot going for it for the price. It’s a solid OLED panel with VRR support for great gaming, great contrast and brightness for content consumption and the sound, especially when used with compatible sound bars from the HT-A5000 and up, really comes through clean.
A few quirks I’ve come across is sometimes sound output will default back to the TV by itself when a soundbar is connected but it’s not a huge issue, and as someone who is more of a future-proof feature person, not having 4 full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports is a bit of a letdown.
Overall, a great value add to any living room.
Thank you for sharing your review of the Bravia 8, ZachG. We're glad to hear that you appreciate the value it offers with its OLED panel, VRR support, and excellent picture quality. Additionally, it’s good to know that the sound quality performs well, especially when paired with compatible soundbars like the HT-A5000 and up.
We recognize that the issue of sound output reverting to the TV can be quite frustrating, and we sincerely appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Your review offers valuable insights that will help guide our efforts for improvement. To assist in resolving this matter, we recommend checking for any pending updates and following the troubleshooting steps outlined at this link: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00020051.
We also understand your concerns regarding the availability of HDMI 2.1 ports. While the Bravia 8 may not feature four full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 ports, please rest assured that the VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) feature is still available in accordance with the eARC specifications outlined in HDMI 2.1 standards.
We genuinely appreciate your feedback and are committed to continuously enhancing our products to better meet customer needs. Thank you for your thoughtful review and for choosing our brand!

This is our third Sony TV, but first OLED. It is fantastic and the improvements are unbelievable. The sound improvments are incdredible. No need for a sound bar.
It is great to hear that your first leap into the world of OLED with the BRAVIA 8 has been such a fantastic experience!
As a longtime Sony owner, we are gladthat you’ve noticed the unbelievable improvements in picture contrast and depth that OLED technology provides. We are especially proud of your feedback regarding the audio. By using our Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology, the entire screen actually acts as a speaker, vibrating invisibly to make the sound come directly from where the action is happening on screen. Knowing that it delivers such an immersive experience that you don't feel the need for an external soundbar is a testament to that innovation.
We really appreciate you being part of the Sony family.

Maybe it's just because I had a 7 year old tv, but the picture clarity on the Bravia is impressive. Lots of really cool features, like using the remote to automatically adjust sound levels for where you sit, and having multiple profiles for myself, my wife and my daughter with parental limits.
It’s rewarding to hear that your upgrade to the BRAVIA 8 has been such a massive leap forward. While technology has certainly evolved over the last seven years, we’ve worked hard to ensure that the jump in picture clarity and intelligent features feels truly transformative. It is wonderful to know that your family is finding the personalized profiles and Acoustic Auto Calibration useful—it really makes the living room feel tailored to whoever is holding the remote.
