The picture is great and the x85k gives you sony’s direct lit tv with a 120hz panel. Fantastic picture & makes sports and video games look awesome. Worth every cent. You need a soundbar though. Sony Worked great for about 10 months. Then it decided to no longer turn on. Tried all factory reset and startup options to no avail. Currently dealing with warranty. If it didn’t fail, I’d give it 5/5.

Thank you for sharing your honest review. While we're glad that you like most of the features, we're sorry you've been running into difficulty. The X85K features 4K at 120Hz signal format via HDMI inputs 3 & 4. Make sure to connect the external device to HDMI input 3 or 4. A Premium High Speed HDMI Cable(s) is fine for general purposes, but if you will connect a video game console that supports 4K 120Hz, use the HDMI cable included with the game console, or an Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable.
To maximize the performance of your TV and video game console, set the [HDMI signal format]. To change the HDMI signal format setting, press the (Quick Settings) button on the remote control, then select [Settings] — [Channels & Inputs] — [External inputs] — [HDMI signal format] — [HDMI 3/4] — [Enhanced format].
Select the optimal format for your video game console:
• If you connect a video game console that supports 4K 120 Hz video output, set to [Enhanced format (4K120, 8K)].
• If you connect a video game console that supports VRR, set to [Enhanced format (VRR)].

The shows we watch, both newer and older look better than the LG we had before. I play games on a PlayStation 5, and the games look much better. As an added, unknown, bonus: when we turn on either the PS 5 or Appe TV the Sony turns on, and switches to the HDMI port the device is connected to.

The sound is decent,The Visual is amazing BUT this tv model clearly has problems,i noticed when you use the smart tv apps the tvs RAM cant seem to handle the multitasking,it crashed on me on month 3 of having it,month 4 again now on month 8 the tv just randomly shut off on me and now its giving me red blinking lights and it wont turn on. Tried reseting it by all of SONY's recommendations and nothing works. My vizio of 6yrs an inferior brand by society standards never gave me a problem. This tv cost me $800 and in 8months i already have to replace it,Its covered under warranty but sony takes about a week to process that or even do anything about,When i called best buy all they can do is offer a $125 technician to come down and diagnose it as well before they can go on to the next step,its frustrating becauze i saved up that money for a new tv and now i feel like my money and this device was worthless and the company best buy does very little to help even though i purchased it from them and its under a year warranty,SONYs process takes soo long. Im not happy and i feel ripped off by sony and best buy,lost alot of confidence in purchasing Sony products and from Best Buy.

Let me share a few pros and cons. Pros: nice home screen layout, sleek remote control, and intuitive google tv functionality. cons: can be glitchy and laggy at times, picture is very dark, will just randomly shut off at times while watching a show. It also does not work well with our bose soundbar and will often lose connection. Overall, i would not recommend this tv. Its not worth the price. We are returning to Samsung…

Picture settings allow a wide array of changes to color, contrast, motion settings, and brightness that can improve the viewed content on your TV. For dimming, you can optimize contrast by analyzing the picture's luminance levels in real-time and automatically adjusting the brightness of each part of the backlight. You can set it to Off, Low, Medium, or High. Check this link and see "Auto local dimming" on how to adjust it.
