I really wanted to love this tv because of the price and the features. Unfortunately, the bottom right corner of the television has a huge issue of light shinning up from the corner of the screen. I read the reviews too late because I found a lot after the fact referencing the same issues. I have boughten several televisions from Best Buy with protection plans and been satisfied to this point. This may discourage my future purchases as I took this one back and did not replace.

Great picture quality, but bad light bleed

First off - the picture quality is fantastic and the aesthetics are awesome. Unfortunately, ours suffered from the dreaded light bleed issue right out of the box, and it got progressively worse over the first couple weeks. We exchanged it for the xbr65x850c model. The 850C model's picture quality is not as good as this 900c model. Other reviews compare the 2 models as having similar quality but I disagree. The upscaling on the 900c seems to be way better. Now i'm really disappointed with the quality of the 850c. If you can live with light bleed, you can't beat the picture quality of the 900c. Zoom into the bottom corners in the attached photo to see what the light bleed looks like. I couldn't live with this issue for the premium price.

The picture is sharp and color definition is extraordinary. The ultra thin panel is gorgeous to look at. The only flaw is light bleed in corners and along bottom edge. The first unit had horrible flashlighting in the corners and severe light bleed along the left side. I returned it the following week. The second unit Best Buy allowed me to preview it in store before accepting it. We have a winner. Their is a slight light bleed in lower right side; very slight. Nearly imperceptible. I understand the technology behind the ultra thin triluminous diagnal lit display which is a form of side lit technology. This panel is not backlit therfore their may be some light bleed especially with a very thin bezel and a large panel, smaller panels with larger bezels are not affected to the same degree. Preview before you accept, choose a winner; you won't be disappointed. I absolutely love this unit. I feel Sony relaxed their quality control on some of these units and allowed some to the marketplace that shouldn't have ever been considered. This hurts the brand name and sheds a bad image on the exceptional units that did make it though production to market. Sony has always been a top tier brand and a leader in innovation an technology. The lack of quality control in this line of Flat Screen TVs' is an unpleasant and frustrating event to work through. The good ones are out there and they are gorgeous. Just look at the display in the store. You may have to open some boxes to find one. Preview First you'll be happy you did. By the way do not feel bad about previewing what you buy. Look at it as the quality control that should have been in place to start with. It may be a little frustrating and time consuming but it will be worth it. LED Triluminous technology is estimated to last at least 20yrs as compared to only 3yrs for OLED. The image clarity and color definition are virtually identical. There is no Judder or pixelation as with other high end units. Though the blacks are not as deep and the very minimal edge light bleed, I absolutely love this TV; especially when viewing sports or movies with outdoor seens look so realistic it's amazing. Do your research on anything you buy. Thanks to Best Buy and crew; your the best.

    Light bleed issue persist

I purchased this TV from BestBuy on the day before Black Friday. Great price for such a potentially great TV. I love the design, Android TV, the picture quality and the bundle with the Sony sound bar. Unfortunately, I experienced the same light bleeding issues (see photos) that the other reviewers have called out. I have been trying to get BestBuy to assist with contacting the Sony rep that was in the store at the time I purchased this set (She convinced me this was the right TV) so that I can find out if Sony has fixed this issue in later units. I understand some are reporting the newest production units are fixed. I'd love a fix because I don't want to purchase a different brand. I really want to love this TV.

    Horific light bleed problems!

This panel has it all: amazing resolution, a very nice color gamut, jitter free up-scaling, an absolutely gorgeous screen, thinner than most cell phones and TERRIBLE LIGHT BLEED! This is a known issue that Sony seems to simply ignore with this and the 55" 900C model as well. We've been through two panels now, and returned both. Unfortunately, the light bleed is so bad that even our teenage daughter who doesn't pay much attention to the quality of images on a tv mentioned it immediately as soon as the screen turned on. Until Sony gets their quality control worked out on what was once a $5K panel, this one should just be pulled off the market. The manager of the local Magnolia department agreed, and even escalated our case to the regional Sony rep - and they haven't even bothered to call him back regarding the issue. Both of our sets were manufactured in October 2015 (some reports had said they had fixed the problem over the summer...but that is clearly not the case.) We really REALLY wanted to love this TV - but it's glaring defect is just unacceptable, at any price.

We first purchased a Sony 75". When we received the monstrosity TV we were dismayed. Although it was a large screen TV it did not look good in our living room. It was over kill. So my husband and I repacked the 75" used a dolly and rolled it right back to return at best buy. We exchanged it for this beautiful 65". This was the best choice we made. From the beginning searching and scoping out TV's I told my husband lets purchase this 65" but he didn't listen. So much hassle could have been avoided if he only listened to me. Too make the story short this TV was an excellent choice. Its slick and very thin. It is not heavy in weight and picture is clear and beautiful. No distorting colors or lines. It brings the feets which you can install 2 different ways or simply wall install. It looks great with our living room space. We decided to purchase a Sony sound bar and we are super happy with all. Can't go wrong with this 65". Easy to install and understand. It has many features in which we are not using but essential to have. If your carrier is Direct TV you must have broadband internet in order to upgrade to 4K. Do your homework before upgrading to 4K with your cable carriers because fees are associated as always unless you are a long time customer. Overall the thinnest tv I've seen thus far and price was ok. Very sleak and appealing. Highly recommended.

This model has excellent overall picture quality. However, the thinness of the display seems to require something of a compromise. I have had to replace the unit twice. My current television is the best of the three, though not without fault. As other reviewers have mentioned, there can be significant light bleed with this model. Newer production units seem to have improved. If you can live with the poor black levels and light bleed, the 900c is still a good option for 4K with passive 3D and an impressive case design.

Nice picture in the daylight but dark shows there a great deal of light bleed at the bottom corners of the TV. I was told by Best Buy Magnolia employees that this TV was not affected by the light bleed issues seen on the 55" model and boy they did lie! In fact they are clueless up there and Sony should be ashamed to continue to put this TV on the market especially for the ridiculous price of 2499.99! I received this TV yesterday and it will be returned. In fact this process of buying a TV from Best Buy Arrowhead has been nothing but a headache with screwing my order up and now the TV sucks after all the trouble. Best Buy and Sony knows this issue but refuses to address it. Disappointed big time, Samsung it is for me. This TV was purchased on 11/24/2015

The thin size of this TV Is awesome. The picture is great. You may not be able to use the wall mount that comes with the TV depending on the location on the wall. We had to buy another wall mount. Since SONY operates on the android system you cannot interface with OIS components unless you purchase Apple TV component. Also, the system cannot download Skype as an application.

Light bleed minor, but could be bad for others

I recently purchased the 65 inch 810c from bestbuy a week back. The lighting was dim, the colors were bland, and the worst part about it was the fact that when I played games on it they had these huge darker shaded lines that were fixed into the screen like screen burn. The day I was going to return it I spoke to one of the workers about getting a good tv with all of the problems fixed. He showed me the 65x900c. When I viewed it in the store I could already tell the major difference in color and quality! It was right next to the x810c so I could do a good side-by-side breakdown of the two. The 900c has sonys advanced color technology as well as being very thin and having a glass face really helps bring out the look of the overall unit. In the store model though, there was alot of light bleeding out from the bottom two corners. The worker said they accidentally damaged it when putting it up. Well after looking at many of the reviews online I see it has been a common issue, but I decided to test my luck anyway and get the unit. After I brought it home and mounted it "with care" the tv is absolutely AMAZING! The colors are superb, the features are very nice with its android os, it came with an optional touch pad remote (which I use very often), but the reason I am giving it a 4 star is because of the light bleed. Now If I knew everyone was going to get the same light bleed as my unit has then it would be a 5 star, the light bleed is so minimal that the only way to notice it is in a dark room with a pitch black screen, the bleeding is probably a cm tall and it's spaced out throughout the bottom so it blends in with the viewing experience. With the picture quality, features, and overall design I would honesyly highly recommend this tv!

I read the extensive negative reviews of this TV regarding the light bleed. But for every bad review I would read, I could find a 5-star review to match it. It seemed with this Sony model, it was a panel lottery to see which category you would fall into. Mine is a Sony household. This is the third Sony 3D HD TV in the house, in addition to two PS3s, Sony surround system, and three 3D Blu-ray players. So when it came down to adding a TV, Sony was my default choice. I was wanting a 4K TV with passive 3d support, and 65 inches was my target range. This TV rose to the surface as the obvious choice for me. Having been so satisfied with Sony over the years, I was disappointed to read about the obvious failure of quality control of the 900C model, and their subsequent failure to make the situation right. Nevertheless, I ultimately decided to pull the trigger anyways and made the purchase based on Best Buy's extremely customer-friendly return policy. My panel has negligible light bleed in the bottom right and left corners. However, it is so negligible, I honestly can say I would never have noticed it had I not been looking for it. So, it appears I have won the panel lottery and came up with a sound television. Just in case it gets worse, though, I'm keeping the box for the 30-day return period. Anyways, to the TV. Aesthetically, it's gorgeous. The screen is thinner than my smart phone and the colors really pop. I love the secondary navigation remote control, which uses a touch pad to navigate through the various smart features. It comes with its own wall mount, which is a nice extra. Regarding all the smart features, this thing is top of the line and I have no regrets. I dock a star for the aforementioned problems associated with this model. As to whether I'd recommend this TV, I'd say yes, but buy it from Best Buy where the return policy is very customer friendly just in case there are issues with the light bleed.

Light bleed issue : ( Save your time, go Samsung!

My wife and I went in to purchase a sony 850 series tv and were in awe of the 900c. In talking with the salesperson she assured me the reviews were old and that the problem was addressed. She said that sony had picked up and replaced all the old units that had the issue. The model on the showroom floor had no light bleed issues that I could see. So, we decided to purchase it as I loved the thin form factor and the picture was beautiful in 4k. I get it home, spend two hours installing the special wall mount that is included (nice touch) and low and behold...LIGHT BLEED. Both lower sides and the middle on the bottom. The lower left side looked like a flashlight shining through the picture even when it wasn't a dark scene. UGH. So, my wife and I packed up the TV and returned it to Best Buy. We purchase all our appliances and electronics from Best Buy and have always had great experience and felt like we got a good deal! The floor supervisor and the Manager Diego were not only very understanding they helped us in anyway they could. We wound up upgrading to the Samsung UN65JS9000 and are extremely pleased. The picture is as good or better, its brighter and the colors are amazing. My wife is a big believer in Samsung as our other TV's are Samsung. I was the one who wanted to try the Sony as I was really impressed with the 900c series. Unfortunately, my wife's parting words where....we will never buy a sony TV again! The attached pictures are in daylight and don't really give it justice. At night it really looked awful! It really was bad...you can see even with the picture on the screen the light looks like a flashlight on the side. In conclusion we will still be Best Buy shoppers and are satisfied with the service we received.

Design 5 stars, thin like you wouldn't believe. However that is where the love affair ended. Did not know what to look for with the issue mentioned in past reviews about the light bleed, and when I asked the installers about it they said they had not seen it either, but much to our chagrin there it was, lower left/lower right. Did not appear all the time but enough to be a nuisance especially for the price of the set. The picture otherwise was awesome and actually debated whether or not to mess with a replacement or to just live with it. After discussions with the Best Buy store we decided to an upgrade and got the Sony XBR-65X930C as a replacement for a "couple" of bucks more and except for the major weight difference enjoying the replacement unit immensely.
