Unbelievable Picture and Sound Quality

This TV is like NONE other. The picture is incredible and sound is awesome. Our old Visio TV was 10 years old and needed big clunky speakers to get the sound quality of this TV. We waited a couple of years for the price to come down and it's well worth EVERY penny!

This Tv is great, but has some intermited issues switching inputs. Occasionally the TV will become very very very slow to respond to any command given with remote or with controls built directly into TV. Resetting it fixes the problem. I'm sure there will be a update soon to fix this issue.

The picture in the store is much better. My picture at home is ok but not near as good as in the store. Sound is ok but does not sound as good as in the store. The volume is not adequate. The volume in the store was significantly louder and more enjoyable. Volume does not go loud enough at home. For $3,300.00 I was hoping for better. Kind of disappointed. But it is better than the 32 inch Samsung that I paid $200.00 for.

One of the best Sony made! Couple of months ago I went to Sony store and saw this tv thought I wouldn't able to afford this tv and I'm so glade they lowered price down due to it being discontinued hopefully they'll make something similar like this one or better! The 900c had issues with light bleeds!

I have to say I have never bought a tv like this before and I was SUPER EXCITED! I bought an open box tv and purchased the 2yr geek squad protection on it. I found out it had been the stores display unit but was assured it still had the manufacture warranty and now the additional geek squad protection on it. I got home plugged it in watched a movie and went to bed. The next morning I came into the living room and saw the tv on. I thought I forgot to turn it off so I turned the tv off. To my surprise the tv turned itself back on. For 3 days I kept looking for settings or something that would make the tv stay off after I turned it off and found nothing. I called Best Buy and was told to bring it back, I advised that I had a 4x4 vacation planned and wouldn't be back for a week. My order was looked up and I was told the timeframe would still keep me in my 15 day return period. When I got home from vacation i walked in to the living room and saw the tv on. I went to turn it off and there was extreme heat radiating from it. I unplugged the tv and started checking my xbox connect and sound bar to make sure the tv hadn't melted anything. I saw a fine crack on the screen and immediately called Best Buy. They referred me to geek squad and said if they can't fix it they'll replace it. I called geek squad, they referred me to a local technician. The local technician lives an hour out of town and told me he never comes to pueblo. Once I told him the story he asked me to text him some pictures. The technician is saying Best Buy sold me a broken tv and Sony won't cover it, he says he can't get ahold of geek squad and that I should call Best Buy and argue with the manager till they replace it. My local Best Buy has an amazing staff and I guarantee their integrity is higher than selling someone a broken tv. I purchased the tv. 4/27/16 it's now 05/31/16 and have herd nothing back from Best Buy, geek squad or the technician on what's going to be the outcome from my purchase. I have to constantly be the one reaching out from a lack of follow up. The technician still keeps asking for more pictures of the tv. All I can say is tv was $2,000 for the open box display unit, I was told it was naturally a $4,000 tv. I see that the tv is $2,300 brand new. I'm very upset and unsatisfied with this outcome it has definitely not lived up to my expectations. You can't see the crack unless your really looking for it and when the tv is on it looks perfectly fine. It just the moral of the whole situation. Now the tv randomly turns on and can't pull up Netflix.

A Tale of Two TVs

Sony seem to have gotten serious about Smart TV. I have the HX909 from 2010, X900B from 2014, and X930C for 2015. I can say the picture PQ is better than last years x900B but still not better than the HX909. I look at all three TVs everyday and the HX909 just does a hell of a job at dark scenes. I compared scenes from the movie Bourne Identity on all three. This is not to say the PQ is bad, it's great and I have no complaints about the PQ.
As a smart TV, Android TV seems to fix what Sony have been lacking since the Smart TV evolution. Lots of potential and promises made.
If you used the TV in it's basic use case such as cable set top box via HDMI or just Netflix the TV is perfect. Here is where the TV is a disappointment. There are some apps on the TV that say basically "IOU", a firmware update, someday, is suppose to enable the feature/app. My setup is streaming live TV via Ethernet using a Silicondust Prime network tuner. The live streaming TV doesn't work, and HDHomeRun View app is flaky. Kodi seem to work but is not perfect. To watch live TV, I have to use the built in Video app. One thing I've notice is the PQ is obvious better using the Video app than using the HD View app or Kodi. Even the Video app seems to become unstable after a few uses which requires a reboot. Overall the TV is buggy as hell and I have to reboot it almost once a day. Called Sony about the problem and their answer is to reboot or factory reset. I regret pulling the trigger on Sony's first Android TV too soon. I would have given the TV 5 starts if it was stable and it worked as intended with the network tuner. One of the things I've noticed with Android TV is when you have a problems who's at fault? Sony, Android, or the App developer.
If you don't have to do live streaming TV or use any of the apps, this TV is perfect. If you need to network the TV for live TV, wait as long as you can for all the bugs to be fixed or at least become somewhat stable.

I've always been a Sony person overall, but I must say, they really did a great job on this one. The picture on the TV is amazing. There are a lot of settings to be messed with, but when you play around with them enough, you can make the picture almost perfect to anyone's liking. (Bright and vivid as a Samsung, or cinematically correct as a Sony.) All of the options for motion are spectacular, as well. You can get that real "soap opera" effect if you want, or have it move like " true cinema." And the built in speakers sound absolutely phenomenal and are not as intrusive/noticeable as the previous year's model.
I WILL however say that as smooth and refreshing this new Android operating system is, it could definitely use some work. When I first purchased the set, there wasn't even Hulu on it yet. Still awaiting other big apps, such as an internet browser, Ultraflix, WWE Network, etc. I'm sure Sony/Android will get there soon, but that's really the only gripe I have, as of now. The sorting of the apps on their Google Play Store could potentially use an overhaul as well. Again, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, seeing as this is the first generation of Sony Android TV sets, and I'm assuming it will come along in time.
The set up process was simple (although the first software update DID take about 30 minutes) and easy. You can add a Google account just as you would on an Android phone and utilize apps like your Google Play Music. Very cool.
Overall, I would give the TV a 10/10 for picture and sound quality. 8/10 on the operating system as of right now. Like I said, the TV is an awesome one and I would highly recommend checking it out.

This tv is by far the best tv for the price. I have researched this for months and when I saw the picture and HDR capability this tv beats the competition hands down. My tv has no light bleed and uniformity is perfect, pq is amazing and 3d is huge step from previous year. Sound is the better than any other tv. The only set better is 940c but double the price is a tough sell

I've had this tv for a few months and have always been impressed with it. Sony released a new firmware update a few weeks ago that included the HDR stuff they had been talking about for awhile. After the update completed I was even more amazed with the picture quality.
This TV also does an excellent job at making 1080P content look better. Some of the other manufacturers seem to struggle with the upscaling compared to Sony.

i love this tv . Its one of great 4k tvs in the market . If you can't afford for FALD tv like x950b or x940c, this tv will be the best 4k tv that will give you the best upscaling picture quality. I love watching netflix and youtube more now on my tv and especially 4k movie fr amazon. Many people does not like to see the speakers on the side but it actually does not look that bad at all, especially for people does not have surround sound system or does not wanna spend extra money for soundbar, these tv speakers are perry good . I pair this tv with 2 motion 15 speakers, 1 motion 30 center speaker, dynamo 700 subwoofer and marantz receiver. They sound amazing. Its better than IMAX lol

Picture is great. Side viewing is terrific, nice and bright (no significant shadowing) at 45 degrees). Upscale engine works well from HD to UHD. Side speakers are great, no need for a sound bar, although they raise the unit weight to just over 100 pounds, I brought it into my house and placed it on a stand without help, but it was a little bulky to handle due to the extra width from the speakers. Being in my late 50s I probably should have had help. Wall mounting would have been more of a challenge but could have been accomplished using a table as a temporary support.Just be aware of the extra weight from the built-in sound bar speakers.

This tv is phenomenal. Other than the 75x940c, this is the best that sony has to offer.
The sound is simply amazing with the virtual surround sound setting and hi-res sound upscaling.
The darks are the darkest I've seen on any led tv but the brights are bright enough to make you squint at night.
The One-Flick remote is soooooo much fun to use and it can control anything that's plugged into the tv via hdmi cec.
The apps on the Android tv are amazing. Netflix, hulu, sling tv, hbo now, pandora, cnet, plus hundereds more. The screen mirroring is fun too! Google casting works like a charm.
The absolute best tv I've ever had. I just wish I had the space for the 75x940c.

The picture and sound qualities are outstanding. Colors are true, and dark images (black background) are visible! Everything on faces is clear and visible - eye pubil, wrinkles, facial hair, etc. The 4K UHD is amazing, like being there - the only limitation is the lack of extensive 4K programming at the moment.
The TV was easy to set up with detailed drawings and instructions provided. I was up and running in less than 15 minutes after Best Buy delivered and unpacked it. The "computer" aspects make it simple to access Netflix, Amazon, EuroNews, Google TV, and other internet downloads.
It replaces a 10 year old Sony that has been relegated to a bedroom - still works great. I suspect the new Sony will be equally reliable.

I had originally purchased the 900C and wasn't pleased with the performance of it. One week with that tv and I was already having issues with it. This 930C was what I originally wanted. I returned the 900c and definitely upgraded to the 930c. Without a doubt this is the best tv I've ever purchased. Picture is great. The sound is very good for being tv speakers. The whole tv just pops. All functions are fairly easy to use. i like the fact that with a swipe on my phone I can control the tv. Very easy to use. Price was a little high but to me it was worth it. I don't see myself buying a new tv for years to come so why not.

I should say this isn't so much as a a tv, it's more of a massive tablet running android operating system. I am what is considered a cord cutter, with no formal cable or satellite, only internet to watch tv. This tv works amazing for my entertainment needs. Great color and depth and the best standalone sound I've ever heard on a tv. The only problems I've had I attribute to the apps themselves and not the tv so I wasn't going to lower my rating for that. Overall it is well worth the money.

I have the 940C in my living room. Picked this one up for my bedroom. Blacks are great. Up scaling is great. Colors are great. It is HDR compatible. If you look up the specs it has the same insides as the 2016 models except it has the speakers on the sides in which the sound is outstanding. I've owned the OLED. LGs up scaling is terrible. Owned a Samsung JS9500 which is a great TV but if you have any bright lights in your house the curved screen will reflect them worse than a flat screen. Sony is leading the pack right now. If you can find one of these 2015 models you'll be very happy and at a price lower than the new ones.

It's my second 4K TV and both are from Sony. This time, I made a research again, checking Sharp, Panasonic, Samsung, LG and Vizio TVs. It's impressive how Sony TVs have a better image quality and about the upscaling, Sony is unbeatable. My previous Sony 4K TV has speakers on side and I loved it. This time I made the same choice (speakers on side model) because with this feature, you don't need to buy a soundbar or turn on my receiver when I watch news. The apps are all I need and I my choice for this model was because it has amazon video and it works great ! Another feature I like is the screen mirroring. I own a Google Nexus tablet and the connection and set up are easy and works perfectly. Sony, thanks again for this top quality.

Consumer Reports and My Best Buy on this TV!

Researched Consumer Reports on best 2015-6 TV's to buy. Study just came out in the last few months. This was number two (number one was more than $1000 more) Consumer reports had nothing but glowing remarks and after reading them and seeing the TV and at a better price than I had found else where I took it. Set picture is super, controls are also great and I can understand why they rated it so high!. Because I use a home surround sound system with multiple speakers in the room, I have not yet incorporated the TV's speakers into the sound to rate them but will soon as I move all the electronic equipment into a new cabinet to sit the TV on and have the other items below it totally interrogated. I'm happy to respond to questions that you might have.

Last December I purchased the 850c and I was happy with it, but not with the 3D so I returned it for the Samsung 8500 and the 3D is awesome but not happy with the quality overall. By then this bad boy had dropped to the same price as the 8500 and I thought it was a steal. I was still in range of returning the Samsung and I did. This tv has better picture quality then the 8500. The sound is amazing the 3D is not so great, but I can live without it. Also the Montclair Geeksquad sent Juan and his partner to take care of the installation and they did an amazing job. Even though I had my mount on the wall they looked at it and notice that it wasn't installed right the first time, So they went out of Their way to correct it and made sure the mount was working properly before installation. Also I forgot to mention that they have awesome customer service, they were very respectful. What an amazing experience with Best Buy, they will let you try out all their products till you are happy with it. thanks Best Buy, great job!
