I really love this TV it is amazing. The color is perfect and I am just waiting on more 4K content and cheaper 4k cords because best buy is the only store selling them right now and they are EXPENSIVE. The size is perfect, I'm currently waiting on my 3D glasses to come in so we can try them out.

I'm no A/V technical expert, but I've had a slew of tv's in my time, and currently own 4 hi-def flat panels, and also a 27" full hi-def Viewsonic computer monitor for my workstation. I'm a photographer and videographer, and my experience has little technical engineering background, but a substantial amount of experience and practical application of color imagery. OK, so, from this perspective, I supposed that a new Sony, near the top of the range, should blow me away, but it just doesn't. I find the overall brightness level of the picture minimal, and I find it very difficult to adjust the picture to my liking in almost any situation or content that I am looking at. To put this in perspective, I've changed all of settings in "Custom" mode to match online professionally calibrated recommendations that project I should be within 5% or so of perfect calibration, and the picture was hugely underwhelming, being muddy, overcast with way too warm tone, poor contrast and washed out color. I tried a different sites recommendations which slightly improved the picture using the "Custom" mode again, (since it allows for the most changes in the settings, I believe) but still found my experience 'wanting'. Honestly, my 6 year old Toshiba full led backlit panel with local dimming was far easier to set up and get a very satisfactory picture with deep blacks, very satisfying and realistic color with excellent contrast and brightness, and I am used to switching between four picture modes on that set to maximize picture quality from content of various sources. I will say that the ability of this 65" XBR 850C panel to upscale to 4K is very impressive, so the quality of the image apart from being very difficult to adjust the picture quality, is pleasingly sharp, steady, and smooth. I've had the set for one month now, and can't spend one evening watching it without fiddling with the picture controls to fine tune the image to my satisfaction. Sure, content variations mandate changes in picture adjustments to maximize the image quality, and I get that. Historically, I generally have had a fairly easy time of maximizing picture quality in different modes to optimize the image quality in various content coming through the sets that I own. But this one is tough to get satisfactory results. Since this is the single most important factor in assessing overall television quality of any set, I must take one and a half stars away from it for this review. (shows up as 4, since half stars is not possible) I am seriously considering returning the set within the time I have allotted for doing so. But there are many other compelling features that Sony have incorporated into this set that speak highly of it in other ways. The "smart" functionality is responsive, and well thought out, and once you are comfortable with the rather confusing menu system, navigation becomes a little easier each time you use the set. The "touch" remote (two remotes are provided, only the one has a capacitative touch capability) works rather well once some practice using it builds one's skills using it. Generally, I'm now using the other remote, however, since it is not prone to calling up functions inadvertently as the touch sensitive remote is prone to do. I couldn't figure out how to browse the internet with the apps it came with, so I purchased a chrome-bit device and a wireless keyboard with built-in mousepad, to easily access the internet and browse to my heart's content. The device literally makes the tv set a google chromebook computer, and it's responsive, and shows a great quality image on the set. The built in speakers on the Sony are decent if not some of the higher quality built-ins. They do not put out significant volume, though, and I often find myself using my 7.1 surround sound system when watching movies or series episodes. Even doing that, though, I had to access the sound menu, then select the audio from a choice of "audio system" or "tv", before my AV system would get the signal from it. Similar to that glitchy menu for the sound, is the fact that you cannot switch between tv picture modes using either of the remotes, without first entering the "action menu", then choosing "picture adjustments", then selecting from either moving the cursor up or down, then entering to select a different picture mode. That should be selectable by remote control, with one push of a button to change picture modes sequentially. The way this is--- is tedious, time-consuming, and frustrating for others to have to put up with the interruption of a program being watched with the menu system GUI superimposed over the screen for the several seconds needed to navigate over to the appropriate menu selection. The overall menu tree is decidedly complex, and it takes a good while before you feel that you have a handle on where to go to get something done. There is a "setting" icon, same as that seen on cell phones and tablets, found at the bottom of the menu under the "home" button on the remote, which extends the menu system even further. When you do get the picture adjusted well for some content, the color rendition is excellent, and realistic, and satisfying to watch. It's just been really difficult for me to get it right much of the time, and what with the difficulty of on-screen navigation to get to the controls for changing the picture mode and the picture adjustments themselves, the process is rather painstaking and frustrating. I'm still in the process of adjusting the set to evaluate whether I feel it is good enough to keep. One small tidbit that I actually like, is when you play music cd's through the tv (via the 4k upscaled dvd player, e.g.) and into your AV system, the remote grants access quickly to "turn off screen" so the static image on the screen can be eliminated by the screen going blank while the set is still on. This is unusual and I like it. Touching the volume level brings up the menu system to change the status of the tv screen being "off", so it's quickly reversible if desired. Another thing I like is that when I use my wireless RF headphones connected to the headphone/a.v. output, I can mute the tv speakers or keep them on, as well as have completely independent volume controls on the headphones. (You have to select "a.v." rather than "headphones" in the sound menu to make it work this way) I watched two 3D movies on the XBR 850C with my wife, and we enjoyed them, but were a little bit disappointed with the amount of "immersion" sense using the active Sony glasses spec'd for the tv. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't spectacular either. With very limited experience on my part to properly compare the 3D experience in passive versus the active type used on the Sony for 2015, I can only say that I expected more since you have to spend $50 for one pair of glasses. They paired quite easily, however, and were not uncomfortable to wear over my regular glasses, which is a plus. I purchased two additional glasses from a third party at less than half the cost of the Sony ones, and they seemed to work just as good as the Sony's, with their major detriment being the "temples" of the frames were detachable and not hinged, making them awkward to store easily. Appearance; Set looks good, though the stand is minimally supportive of the tv. I constructed a unit to sit in back of the set to contain multiple devices coupled to the set, and used the wall mounting threaded inserts on the tv to attach the set to my unit, which stabilized the set dramatically, so it's no issue any longer. I don't do gaming, but am interested in pursuing some of that entertainment, and the Sony has a special low latency "game" setting under picture modes to use for that purpose, which is reportedly pretty good. (35 thousandths of a sec, which I believe is fine for most gamers). The wireless streaming online with games that Sony and their Playstation support using only the 'force' controller, and registration with Sony Entertainment, and payment of a small fee technically allows for gaming without the Playstation console itself, which is interesting. I haven't fully explored that yet, but hope to explore the possibility sometime. Google casting is built into the set natively, so that's pretty cool, really, allowing content from a phone or tablet to be cast onto the screen or vice-versa, once all the application downloading and registering is completed. I was hoping to be able to connect a pair of bluetooth headphones directly with the tv, but was unable to do so, even though the tv has bluetooth connectivity built in for other devices. It just caused me to set up the RF headphones as discussed earlier, and they work fine. There's a ton of stuff going on with a state of the art tv like this Sony really is in many respects, and it takes a good while to comprehend the many facets of the unit, and though I probably still need to learn some more for complete knowledge of its capabilities, I feel that Sony have designed it well generally, and competitively engineered it to meet the demands of those seeking a competent 4K , 3-D capable TV in most respects. I'm on the fence with picture quality as I've discussed, but it may be simply that I have not become competent enough to adjust it properly for various content origins. But therein lies a vexing question; Just how long should it take for a user to become competent to make picture adjustments to adequately provide for satisfactory image quality?? As I declared in my opening salvo, I'm not an A/V engineer, but am a competent technical person working with digital imagery in my day-to-day life. So, as my summary indicates, I find this Sony 4K t.v. to be a mix of good, great, and underwhelming features, and though I like much about it, I am not certain that it will remain in my possession, for reasons previously mentioned.

Of course the picture is fabulous! The set-up was fast and simple. They include a second remote for everyday type use. It handles the common functions without all the buttons. some people may find this unnecssary and even a little confusing, but you don't ever need to use it if that is the case. The TV handles gaming incredibly well, almost as if it was designed for it. Internet and app access is relatively easy and voice control works as well as most do! If I had one thing I thought they could have made better, it would be the sound quality! It is acceptable, which is the only thing about this set that was at that level. However I think a sound bar or surround sound system would solve this shortcoming!

Great Sony TV! Samsung seems to dominate the floor/wall space but after much research, we decided the Sony was a better long term choice. Have the TV for about 6 months now and couldn't be happier. Picture is outstanding, (of course depending on signal its receiving. For us it is Directv which we love!). Sound is better than most but do not expect high end sound from ANY TV nowadays. Hooked up quickly to our home wi-fi which is great because the TV will let you know when there is a software update. WARNING: Never run a software update at a time you might risk losing power. This could apparently damage the TV. We have done 3 updates and it takes up to 30 minutes. Easy to delay if you want. Very happy with purchase. I am not saying Samsung is bad by any means, but be sure to give Sony a fair shake to find what is right for your needs. PS. Took advantage of Best Buy financing with 3 years no interest. Great deal!

The picture was crisp right out of the box. Setup was easy following the step by step onscreen directions. I did end up making a few settings tweaks as suggested by a couple of reviews on other sites. I had my prior Samsung calibrated by Best Buy when I bought it 7 years ago but this one needs no extra setup. The audio is not quite as robust as the Samsung but satisfactory overall. I run through a home theater setup for shows/events that benefit from full sound. I got free delivery as part of a promo and that is exactly what you get. The guys brought it in, set the box on the living room floor and said goodbye. I think if I had to pay for delivery, I'd rather borrow my buddys pickup and get it myself. Even something as simple as removing it from the box and attaching the TV to the stand would be a great 'Added Value" to the delivery.

I chose this over the Samsung JU8500 because of the $400 price difference. The Sony definitely has an awesome upscalar as all my sources: DirecTV, Blu-ray, 4th Gen Apple TV look great. I returned the Samsung 6700 because my DirecTV channels did not look that good when viewing less than 1080i signals. 4K signals from Netflix, Amazon, YouTube look amazing. I think most 4K TVs today will display excellent 4K signals. Unfortunately, 95% of the time you will be watching 1080p, 1080i or less and this TV displays them beautifully!

I recently had a plasma TV break and was skeptical of the LED's. I was worried about motion blur and pixelation that the older LED's seemed to have problems with. To my surprise this TV is great. With Blu Ray action scene and gaming i haven't noticed any motion blur. The Picture is pretty spot on out of the box. I bought a calibration DVD and going through that I couldn't get much better of a picture than what was already pre programmed. Wall mounting was a little strange due to the shape of the TV in back but it did work out just made me nervous at first. I cant say much about the sound of it because I have mine running through a receiver.

Sony's Triluminous display is the best picture you will get out of any TV on the market. Hands down its better than all its competitors including Samsung. TV was relatively easy to setup. Make sure you do the software update because for some reason the input button wasn't working until the software update completed. Other than that its an awesome tv.

Well have to start this review with saying this was more than I was planning on spending when I arrived at the store. Now I'm glad I made the purchase. The picture is awesome even before the final calibration. It integrates perfectly with all my components except when I hit a wrong button. It has more features than I will probably ever use but a necessary evil if you want a product that is now current and upgradable. Scheduled for the after install color calibration tomorrow that is part of the install procedure/price. I'm at a loss at how the picture and color could be any better but we shall see.

This is the best TV I have ever purchased. The sales person I spoke with answered every single question I had so I was able to make the right decision. This TV has more features than I might even use. My son and his friends have been able to program so much. My first TV that I have hung on the wall. It is perfect. Should have done this earlier. This TV is ready for the future, even though nothing out there is ready for this TV. Don't be sold on the 4K gimmick with out knowing what it is. Most TVS that advertise as 4K are 4K capable not 4K ready. This TV is a 4K ready TV with a 4K @ 60HZ panel and 1080P at 120hz native. The panel does have HDMI 2.0 Connections and is HDCP 2.2 capable. Very few content is true 4K regardless of what the salesmen say, so don't be fooled by their speeches. This TV will have no problem playing that content when it is available in a couple of years. The sound is okay and looks best in dark room but the upscaling of 1080P content and the color richness is amazing. Android OS is not the worst but it has room for improvement a lot of apps in the GOOGLE play store.

Was pleasantly surprised to find out that my old Samsung 3D glasses work with this TV, as compatible Sony glasses are hard to find. Cannot commend on sound as it goes through home theater system.

Have had the TV about 2 months and really like it. Particular features that I like: *Bezel is beautiful and thin *Android platform is powerful and some of the apps are really good - takes some getting used to though *Picture quality is very good Minor downsides: *Video streaming took me a while to figure out. I found the answer in Plex *Sound is a bit tinny. Fixed that with a good sound bar (Sony HTNT3) *Remotes are not particularly intuitive

It's definitely a beautiful TV, picture quality is spot on. If you're upgrading from an older TV the difference is vastly noticeable. Any 1080p signal looks clearer an more life like, when it comes to 4k content, well that's a different ballpark entirely. Main reason why I didn't give this TV five stars is that for people who might not be as familiar with smart TV's or aren't quite tech savvy, then the initial setup instructions will seem to be quite lacking, the touchpad remote takes some getting used to, and the android operating system can be a little finicky at times. So other than that, it really is an amazing TV. Picture quality 5/5, overall ease of use and menu navigation 4/5.

Having purchased this TV a little over a month ago, we could not reasonably expect to be any happier with its performance. I found a couple of calibration guides online and changed the factory display settings per the guides' recommendations. Using trial and error I then tweaked the settings a bit to fit our viewing environment (relatively dark split level home basement), and the resulting picture is brilliant. We watch a wide variety of programing (hockey, football, and action movies included) and have had zero issue with darkness levels or motion blur, and the 4K content we've viewed through Amazon Prime and Netflix has been nothing short of spectacular. The 4K up-scaler does a great job handling Blu-Rays, and it also produces a very nice picture when watching just standard DVDs. I picked the unit up from the store and set it up on my own (I did not mount it, I use the TV stand), and it was a snap - no issues whatsoever. We also bought a Sony soundbar (HTCT780) and run our DirecTV receiver and Blu-Ray player through the soundbar to the TV. I have not watched anything using the TV's built-in speakers so I cannot comment on its sound quality, but we've been very pleased with the quality of the soundbar. Additionally, the TV price dropped $200 a couple of weeks after our purchase. We simply took our receipt into the store and Customer Service gave us a quick and easy price adjustment (I think as a Best Buy Elite member the price adjustment window is 30 days from date of purchase, 14 days for non-Elite members.) Overall, an exceptional TV and we are completely satisfied with this purchase.

We researched lots of TVs before making a purchase. We knew we wanted 65" 4k, we went to BB with the intention of purchasing a Samsung, the one we wanted was out of stock. We looked at an LG (horrible stand, wobbled, not steady at all), talked our rep and he recommended this Sony. He had the same model in a 55". We went through all the specs and decided to take it home. It's been great and we love it! So easy to use and set up!

Researched tvs ad nauseum before purchase. Ended up settling on this Sony. Cannot say enough great things about it! The clarity is phenomenal and we found the color to be more genuine than what you get with other tv brands. Absolutely astounding tv. We also found there to be a difference in picture quality and color between this and the comparable Samsungs.

This tv is just short of perfect! The picture quality is outstanding. Very easy to set up and connect to all components. It did take a little while, almost 20 minutes, to initialize the first update. The functions are easy to navigate and all options/desires for adjustments are easy to use. This is my first "smart" tv and I am extremely happy. The small frame around the screen made it a little difficult to hang over my fireplace. Definitely have a helping hand when installing, even if using the stand. Highly recommended.
