This item is easy to set . Easy to operate, works great with all mine electronics. Instructions are easy to comprehend.

This is by far the best remote I've ever used (minus, of course, remotes with an LCD screen). The manual provides all codes I've ever needed to program my home theater equipment, and I even found a program code to control my ceiling fan after some trial and error. Macro buttons at the bottom allow you to press one button and turn multiple components on/off. For instance, mine is programmed to turn on the TV, turn on the receiver, turn on the DirecTV and make the remote ready to command DirecTV by just pressing #1. Reverse that for #4. Limitless possibilities for the macro function.

My original Sony remote crapped out and I needed an replacement. Thought about buying generic but when finding this smart remote, all I had to do was load the batteries and that was it! The remote also controls my other Sony media products so all I need now is one remote. Wish other aspects of life was this easy!!

If you want a remote control to control several devices, then this one is for you. The button layout is similar to my DirecTV remote, and you can easily program up to eight devices either from pre-programmed codes, or by teaching the Sony remote to LEARN the functions of the devices you have. I have programmed my Sony remote to control my DirecTV DVR, TV, BD player, Apple iPod dock, space heater, CD player, and ZVOX amplifier. This is a great remote control.

I bought this remote for a SONY television. It does not require any programming if it's a SONY branded television. I can't review this for functions with another brand, however, I will say that it provides a big list of codes for many brands.

Great remote. Works across many brands and is also a learning remote. I now use this remote for practically everything in my home. if you're on the fence about this one, buy it. You won't be disappointed

THIS REMOTE WORKS GREAT WITH MY SONY SMART TV. WHEN I WANT TO CONTROL MY TV FROM THE KITCHEN AND MY ORIGINAL REMOTE IS IN LIVING ROOM, IT IS SO HANDY TO HAVE THIS REMOTE.

I have two of these Sony remotes at my home now. In my opinion they're the best remote you can buy for 25$ or less if on sale. It can control up to 8 devices and is fully configurable with IR learning capabilities and macro command ability as well. If you have a device that won't respond to any manufacture codes this remote can still work, just "teach" it the commands of the existing remote and you're good to go. It takes a little time set up but the user guide is very helpful and you'll be very happy when you're done.

While waiting for our Verizon remote to arrive that was replacing the one that went bad we decided to check out the universal remotes being offered at Best Buy. Bought this because we have a TV and BlueRay Disc player by SONY and figured this would be a breeze to set up. After 10 minutes of setup and getting use to the buttons we found we liked this unit better than the Verizon remote. When the Verizon unit came we put it down stairs and will just use that in an emergency. Easy to use, easy to set up, great product for the price.

I'm ok with electronics of most sorts, but am by no means, an expert. That being said, This remote worked with my 16 year old Sony Stereo Components (All of them), my Sharp 60" TV, Cox Cable box, Sony Blu-Ray Player, and a few others (Including my Air Conditioner!!!). I am extremely impressed with it's versatility and ease of programming as well. You won't be disappointed if you pick it up.

With the exception of my Apple TV, all my equipment was made by Sony, which this remote is programmed to control right out of the box. It didn't control all of my receiver's functions at first, so I had to use the learning function from the receiver's original remote. From what I've read online, this is not uncommon. Also from what I've read, it's important that you use fresh, high-quality batteries if you want to use the learning function. The instructions specifically state this, but I've seen other reviewers get frustrated because they say the learning function doesn't work. I'd especially recommend this remote if you have a Sony TV, as most of the buttons are duplicated, which saves you from having to program anything extra. It also looks like this model is being discontinued, so grab one of these while you can. It have four buttons at the bottom that can be dedicated to multi-step functions.

This is a very good remote for the price. It is very easy to set up, especially when using other Sony devices. The only negative is that it is not backlit.

I had really good experience with the older Sony learning remote, the RM-VL600, so when I needed another one for my new Hisense TV set up, I looked for another Sony learning remote control. Overall the remote control is functional as expected, but for learning feature, it is much more cumbersome to set up than the previous generation. All three components - the new Hisense TV, the streaming Android box, and the audio amplifier - need to have every key mapped into the Sony remote control; I was able to do that successfully through learning mode as the Sony's library does not the right codes for them. Once done, I was able to control three devices for my set up. The volume up/down and the channel up/down keys are large enough and logically placed. Note that for those four keys are the main reason why I got the replacement remote to start with. Also note that the TV volume is not passed through if the remote is on the other devices, and there is no key for close caption. Overall for the price I paid on Bestbuy and with free shipping, it was really a bargain, and I would buy it again.

Well designed, easy to program universal TV remote control. Better suited for average user familiar with technology in general. I bought this for my 90-year old mother, however, who complained about the excessive number of buttons...I'll probably keep this for my own use and buy a simpler one for my mother.

Set up Blu Ray and HDTV on it plus my Pioneer receiver! No problems!

I was able to program in 6 different devices. It even found settings for my two DTV boxes. Like most remotes it does not give you access to all the features for each device. Since it is a learning remote, I attempted to teach it the functions it was missing, BUT this feature did not work. It would drop out of the learn mode after only a few seconds. I rechecked the instructions znd tried programming different keys, to no avail. I am a computer engineer and am quite able to follow the directions. I also had no problem working with tSony's older model, which is what I was replacing. It might just be the particular unit I had, but they were out of it when I went to exchange it, so I just got my money back.

Replaced the same model that suddenly had a hard recognizing several of the keys. I have all sony products so it pretty much just works without a lot of setup. The one that this replaced was not the original tv remote which had all the necessary functionality and I thought a better layout, but it is no longer available.

This is an excellent value learning remote. Setup is easy and it works with all devices in my home.

It was a bit of a pain to put buttons back in the old remotes (and find them) to upgrade from my old learning remote to this new one, but worth it. Didn't have to learn anything for my existing Sony products. Also, it appeared to be lighting up and working/learning when actually the batteries weren't quite strong enough to learn. Make sure all the remotes have full batteries. This remote controls everything smoothly with no technical issues now. I wish it had more backlit buttons for use in the dark, but eventually I will have them all memorized, I guess.
