The Z9G has the best color and the best performance of any TV I have ever owned. You are surrounded with 85 inches of one of the most detailed lifelike pictures ever seen. A picture that is so detailed and so real in bringing you into an almost 3 dimensional experience. You have great depth of picture with some of the darkest blacks to the brightest brights that can go up to 4000 nits. The blooming was almost non existent, with 720 dimming zones and great response time as the picture is able to handle anything that is thrown at this Television. Sonically the sounds envelopes you drawing you in as if you are part of the experience. With the sound effects moving and following what ever action is taking place across your visual field. This Z9G is the best out their. And so far I am very satisfied with this product Purchase.

I made my way to the Magnolia center within the Oakdale, MN, Best Buy. I'm not going to name the sales person for privacy reasons but his first name started with L. His knowledge and ability to control the tv was far greater than I had experienced at any previous electronic store I had entered, a true professional. I had my eyes on several 75" to 85" OLEDs. When the specifications and operability of the Sony Master Series were explained, it was the obvious choice. The picture's black is far deeper than that in which I've ever seen, up to and including the best of the best plasma sets; the ability to control specific LEDs versus portions of a panel allow the user unlimited adjustments. The speaker set up is also very new to the OLED scene. The 8 speakers surrounding the panel provide multiple ways to listen depending on your preference. Definitely one of the best consumer available sets on the market, no longer made though, as the panel is far too expensive to keep it affordable.

    Best TV on the market

Had this for 3 months, definitely the best TV you can buy at the moment. Had 75" Z9D before this and its pretty significant upgrade, both in size and the quality of the picture. 8k upscaling works pretty well, picture looks very immersive as if looking through a window. Motion handling also appears to have been improved and so is how peak brightness is handled. Speaking of brightness it can handle up to 4000 nits, highest around, HDR performance is fantastic. I also have 65 inch Sony OLED, which use LG panels, so picture is comparable. Z9G beats that hands down in both picture quality and HDR performance, only black levels are better on the OLED, but overall it feels a downgrade to go from Z9G to OLED, similar if going from 4k to HD. The only problem with this TV was the price, it started out with 13k, but now at 8k its a good deal, considering comparable Samsung products go up to 13k, and even Sony's inferior Z8H will cost 10k this year. For comparison Z9G has nearly double the zones of top of the line Samsung, has Dolby Vision support, and more natural picture. Samsung QLED is just a marketing gimmick, their 8k TVs perform worse than 4K OLED TVs as indicated by many reviewers comparing LG 4K OLED to Samsung 8k. Z9G has 1 HDMI 2.1 port for future use once we have 8k players of some sort, but for the next year or two, it will be about upscaling as was the case with 4k, so don't base you decision of number of HDMI 2.1 ports, and silly stuff like that. This TV is not just good because of 8k, its superb in all aspects. Many professional reviews indicated it as product of the year for 2019, and there isn't a 2020 TV model that can beat this. Z9D was a legendary 4K TV, one of the best in the market, beating that and having overall better picture and performance than OLED is not easy, this TV has achieved that by noticeable margin.

The picture is the best I’ve seen and the sound quality is great. I purchased a harmony remote to control every thing which lets me put all the remotes away

1 month in on ownership Well, lots to like, a few things I don't like. First - this is the best picture I have ever seen from any display device. I've been a high end projector owner for a long time, going back to the original Qualia. Currently own a JVC NX9 in a dedicated room. My Wife and I were watching the latest season of expanse. Started a few episodes on the Z9G, then went down to the theater. The difference in picture quality was so jarring, we went back upstairs. Then, into the bedroom for one final episode on the LG E8, our previous ”best picture we have ever seen” display. Inky blacks are there, but again, the picture just doesn't pop like it does on the Z9G. After a lot of playing around, the difference is really how it's representing Dolby Vision content. I'm guessing many of the shows in DV target a very high peak luminance. This TV has 5x the peak brightness of the oled and projector. This is turning out to be a very big difference in how the picture is perceived - It's like looking out a window. 2) the arc/earc via hdmi just works. This has always been finicky with my other sets, but they seemed to have nailed it. The not so good... 1)There was a lot of marketing fluff around the built in speakers and Dolby Atmos capability, and I had high hopes. Sound is average to below average. I wouldn't rely on it if you have a choice 2) there are a number of Sony bloatware apps you can't delete, and they didn't leave a lot of space left over for third party apps. Be prepared to dedicate a USB Drive (SSD RECOMMENDED) for storage The bad: 1) the TV can't internally render 8k video files (ANY type of encoding) at all. It can't play them from a high speed USB, can't stream them from another machine, nothing. I thought something was wrong and put in a support ticket, and their answer was it will only do 8k as input from one HDMI port. I have an 80 dollar Chinese androidtv box connected via hdmi at 8k and it can render them fine. A little shocked Sony didn't put the necessary horsepower in at this price point. 2) ethernet port is only 100 Mbs. I guess you could argue since it can't handle 8k streaming, it shouldn't need a gig connection.. It couldn't handle my gopro files, which are recorded 4k at 120 Mbs. This is literally from the dark ages. It does do 5ghz wireless, but I found it defaults to 2.4. I had to make a dedicated 5ghz only ssid to get it to connect, and I still couldn't play my gopro files without stuttering. So far, very happy with the purchase, but it's making me unhappy with my other displays.... Especially on prime/netflix/Disney+ dolby vision content. On regular HDR the Oled becomes competitive again and on non HDR the projector is in the hunt. I have a feeling the next few years will be all about the nits....

Get ready for reboot after reboot. Android TV is awful. Get ready to put all your usernames and passwords in again and again. Get ready to spend hours and hours trying to get your TV set up and never being able to get all of the features to work at the same time. The software is worse than healthcare.gov when it came out.

All I can say is wow! Significantly brighter then the Samsung 8k. Makes 4k HDR and dolby vision content look fantastic. 8k content if you can find it, or high resolution photos make the television look like you are looking out of a window. There is a three dimensional quality to the picture that is hard to describe, but feels very lifelike. I have had no issues with andoird TV, but it did update itself as soon as I put the TV on my network. I own a 65 inch LG oled, and always thought the picture couldn't get any better. While the blacks are not as good on the Sony, the overall picture, focus, details and that crazy peak brightness are clearly better. Wish Sony would let owners download the 8k demo content they were showing off in the store. My hone would be a sales office for these models if I could show it off more - that is a big Bravo Sony
