this is my first foray into the micro 4/3 camera. I have to say it is quite easy to use, very slim and compact and has a very appropriate weight that prevents shaking. A professional recommend this and this guy uses this for both paid and personal gigs all over the world. Like him I used to be a Nikon guy and although I am not going to completely give up on Nikons, I have a feeling I'll be bringing this camera with me a lot more often than my Nikon. This is the ideal camera for shooting photos and HD video of your travels, events, or just time with your family. It is very easy to use and the controls are very easy to adjust. Normally I have to study the manual extensively before I ever use a camera, but this one is very intuitive. It has almost all the functionality of the DSLR but it's compact size makes it less intimidating when you are shooting events in public. The price is quite reasonable, and there are a wide variety of lenses available the other two that came with the camera are more than enough for almost everything you would ever shoot. The photo quality is fantastic with a very good processor very quick response and the 24+ megapixels are more than plenty. All in all if you're looking for high-quality camera, at a low price built with a very good name this is a great choice. This is also the top-selling mirror-less camera.

After four months of researching, I went for it. I'm not a professional...more like an enthusiastic beginner. I decided: I want to learn to take better pictures. I want a quality camera that isn't overwhelming in gadgets or size, and I just want to get better at it. So, about a month ago, I finally made my choice...and I am so happy with my A6000. Clear - no - STRIKING photos, easy to use, wifi is awesome. My subjects so far: my pets, foliage, local hs football games, trips around my state (Alaska) and my recent trip to Denali: all gorgeous shots. Some words of advice: get the battery charger and an extra battery. Keep both charged and with you in an easy-access bag. I bought the Lowepro Format 140 bag at Best Buy and it fits the camera and my extra lens really well. Go ahead and purchase the 55-210 lens and practice with the E-mount. Watch videos about how to set up the wifi on youtube (helped me a lot). I'm having a ball. I'm new at this, folks, but I am extremely happy with this camera.

I am a semi pro photographer/ photo enthusiast. I have sold some of my work, but it's not my full time job. I have a Nikon d810 and Nikon d7000. I love my Nikons, but my biggest complaint is that they are heavy and cumbersome for everyday use. I looked at mirrorless Nikons but their sensors are very small. The Sony a6000 has the same sensor, APS-C that is in my Nikon d7000, but it weighs a fraction of that at about 10 oz, I think. I thought about purchasing the Sony A7ii, since I love my full frame Nikon, but it's still a little heavy- almost double the weight of the a6000. Also, the prime glass for the full frame Sony is quite expensive and the specs on them still aren't as good as my d810. I really like this camera. The electronic viewfinder is great, it shoots raw and it gives me the flexibility to be creative with the manual, aperture and shutter priority modes. It's got this really great face recognition option in the menu where you can register the faces of your family or friends and the camera will make sure those faces are in focus. Pretty sweet. You can also customize the function buttons and there is an eye focus button. Great for no more soft or out of focus eyes. The focus is fast. It takes 11 fps. Also, you can touch the screen or button on the back to have the focus set on a certain object. As far as lenses, I'm not a fan of the 16-50 kit lens. It has a lot of aberration or vignetting at the corners when shooting raw. You can fix it in Photoshop though. I bought the Sony 35mm/1.8 and it's great. It has really good bokeh. I also purchased the Zeiss 24-70/4. It also has great image quality. So , to sum up. I do love this camera. It's small enough to fit in my purse so that I can carry it everywhere without breaking my back. The image quality is way better than my iPhone and yes, you can transfer pics from the camera to your phone very easily. The camera has its own wifi so you can transfer pics anywhere. You can't beat the quality of this camera for the price!

I stalked this camera for so long before I bought it. I wasn't sure what I needed besides the ability to shoot in Camera RAW and a viewfinder (which some mirrorless cameras do not have). Then I talked to a specialist at a local camera store and at Best Buy and I got the same answer from each of them. For the money and the compact size, you get a fantastic camera that is well-suited to professional and amateur phototgraphy. My only issue with this so far is that it has so many menus and sometimes the buttons will do different things in different modes. It's hard to keep up sometimes and when I was shooting a round of engagement photos, some of the settings had me adjusting a lot before taking the photo. That was partially because I had only had the camera for about 2 weeks when I went on that shoot, so I wasn't entirely that familiar with the interface. The biggest draw for me to this camera was it's size. I had dealt with DSLRs before, but as a woman, walking with one of those slung over my chest was uncomfortable. There are few things more unpleasant than a 30 lb camera bouncing into your stomach with every step. Even with the larger lens I bought with this, it's still comfortable around the neck. I also needed to go back to my local camera store to purchase a UV filter for this, as the lens is so small that the filter wasn't available at Best Buy. I think the most issue you'll have is the feeling of not being a real photographer without the giant DSLR strapped to your hand. I look at it more though as Sony packed the horsepower of a pick-up truck into the body of a sports car. You get the quality of photos you would expect from a DSLR with the portability of a point and shoot, which makes this all the more worth the money, in my opinion.

I LOVE this camera. I've always had a camera in-hand since I was about 8 years old. My dad spoiled me with a basic Minolta film SLR when I was a freshman in college, and I learned so much with that camera. When the world went digital, I reluctantly made the move, and did my best to research awesome point-and-shoots that would fit my small budget, but was never fully satisfied with the photos. I recently found myself able to upgrade from my Canon Powershot SX260HS, and discovered the world of mirrorless cameras. I'm not a professional by any means, and the bulk (and expense) of DSLRs has kept me from considering them. I know myself, and my previous experience with a film SLR taught me that I will often leave a SLR behind due to it's sheer size. So when I discovered that a mirrorless camera is basically a DSLR in a much smaller body, I was intrigued. I did my research. So much research. And the Sony is definitely the way to go. I purchased the a6000 mostly because of my budget (or I would have considered the a6300 or a6500), and because the a5100 doesn't have a viewfinder, so you're stuck with the LCD to frame your shots on bright sunny days. The sony mirrorless cameras have the biggest CMOS sensor of their class, and they have a hot shoe for adding external flashes and such. The hand grip is solid and comfortable, even for my smaller hands. It may be a bit compact for someone with larger hands. But, you end up using both hands to control and support this camera anyway, so that's not a huge deal. The built-in flash is nothing special, but most of us considering this class of a camera wouldn't expect it to be anyway. It looks frail, but it's actually quite flexible, which allows you to point it away from your subject if you'd like. Sony has done a great job understanding a photographer's needs when designing this flash - it won't fire at all - even if you have the settings set for automatic flash - unless you have physically popped the flash open. It gives you incredible control, and you never have to worry about the camera firing the flash when you don't actually want it. One thing that I've found helpful with using this flash is a set of bounce cards I purchased on Amazon for $15. You get 3 cards that slide into the hot shoe, which help you direct the flash apparatus upwards, and spread the light up and to the sides to bounce the flash off the walls and ceiling. Highly recommended for indoor flash photography! Also recommended is a book called David Busch's Sony a6000. The manual that comes with the camera is tiny and not very useful. But this book is a wealth of information. I've learned so much in just the first two chapters of this book!. It's available on Kindle and iTunes, plus Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Kindle was the least expensive, however, and I like the idea of having the book available on my phone no matter where I am, in case I need a quick tip. One easily-remedied down-side to this camera is that the battery charges in-camera. You don't get a wall charger in the box. I'd highly recommend getting a wall charger and a couple extra batteries to keep on-hand so you don't find yourself stuck charging your battery, unable to use the camera. I bought two batteries, a wall charger, and a car charger from Wasabi on Amazon for less than $30. Anyway, long review, but the basic message is: Yes! Go get this camera! It's easy to use, versatile, responsive, takes great photos, and is appropriate for photographers of many levels.

Using 3 optional lenses, lightweight, compact and achieves great results. 50mm, 55-210 and 16-50 all work well with A6000. Enjoy the camera and it's ease of use. Difficult to take a bad photo. Battery life could be better.

I love this camera because the quality of the pictures it takes is so amazing and breath taking. I use it all the time and its so incredibly fast that I am able to take motion pictures. Very light and the quality of the picture does not diminish with the 55-210mm lens.

This little camera is amazing. I have an a77ii and was looking for smaller camera to carry around day to day that would still fit my assortment of lenses. I have to say, I am blown away by what I can accomplish with this little guy. The picture quality is superb - as good as my a77ii (they share an image sensor). The only reason I have to use the bigger cousin these days is sports photography and some longer exposure night shots. Big wins on this camera for me are: A viewfinder. I cannot operate without this. Weight. I hardly notice I'm carrying it most days. Lenses. Although (with proper adapter) my entire lens library fits on this, I purchased a 50mm e-mount for a walk around. That is a seriously quality lens that rarely comes off anymore. My only complaint, if I have to have one, is that the dial on the back on the camera took some getting used to. The menu systems are dense, but once you assign your recently used items to the Fn key, this becomes a non-issue. Great little camera. I certainly would buy it again.

I chose this because of these practical features: It has Phase-detect auto focus which enables much quicker focus than contrast detect-only cameras; it has a PASM exposure mode dial which provides the best user control over any other control layout; a peer-through electronic viewfinder in addition to the rear display; and it has a relatively large sized APS-C image sensor that can produce clean photos with fine detail and good dynamic range. In using it, the main menu layout seems sensible enough, and the FN button on the back thankfully provides an easy path to a bunch of settings that you will often change. The AEL button under your right thumb can be reprogramed so I changed it to activate auto-focus instead of having the default shutter button half-press do that. This generally gives you better control over exactly when the camera focuses which makes it easier to recompose your shots. One gripe is that my fingers want more tactile, mechanical feedback from the push buttons on the back. They all feel very delicate and mushy compared to my DSLRs. The exception is the generously sized Okay button which is easy to find. It should come with a battery charger. A charge lasts about an hour and a half in continuous use so get more batteries. And buy the separate charger which isn't included with the camera. Without it you have to plug the camera into an outlet and wait several hours. Silly. The economical and very compact 16-50mm kit lens is nice for daylight shooting. An absolute must-have if you're not prepared to spend lots more money on a more sophisticated option. But at f/5.6 at its longest focal length I really need it to be brighter. Still, glad I bought it with the camera. The longer focal length Sony 55-210mm zoom lens seems outstanding to me and I've made some beautiful pictures with it. I use DSLRs professionally but wanted to have a quality mirror-less compact for certain situations. The Sony a6000 has the main features I need and its wealth of control settings makes it very versatile. I'm using it mainly for still photography but find that it does video better than an SLR. During video shooting it auto focuses better and also utilizes anti-shake (Sony's Steady Shot) nicely. It's a good camera and I've made some great looking pictures with it in the short time I've owned it so far. Extremely good value and price in my opinion.

This is probably my 12 or 15th digital camera. I purchased it to replace my old Canon Rebel DSLR, and have never looked back. Lighter then some point and shoot digital cameras. There are something like 150 different settings you can tinker with. Or, you put it on automatic and it takes fantastic pictures. Most of the buttons can be reprogramed to different functions. If you want to change the exposure plus or minus, program one of the buttons, and boom, you got it. After you buy it go purchase David Busch's SONY a6000 ILCE-6000 Guide to Digital Photography, because the camera's manual is just a couple of pages to get you started. Great Camera

I found the camera light and easy to use. The controls take a little getting used to but other than reviewing the user guide a few times it was put together and off and running. B&W images are excellent. The FPS Is fast at 11/sec. Lenses are mostly plastic but have been holding up to daily use. It is a bit small for large hands and I ended up putting on a third party battery grip which also has a vertical release. Normally I use a canon 5D Mkii and the weight change to the Sony was very nice. Battery life is a not as good as I had hoped so purchase a second battery. Skylights are a must because there isn't much to protect the front element of the 16-50. The LCD screen is bright and the viewfinder is excellent. I found myself using the viewfinder rather than the LCD screen. The camera is very quiet and works well in situations where little or no noise is a benefit.

This takes great photos. I am amazed that you can get all the features in a mirrorless that you can in a full size SLR at 35% less weight and size. I took my full size SONY to Machu Picchu in May and carried the camera and 2 lenses and realized that it was too much to carry around on a hike for several hours. My friend has a mirrorless FUJI and I could not believe the differnce. I choose a Sony because it was half the price and I am sure took the same or close enough quality as the FUJI. Maybe the FUJI had more options, but the SONY A6000 was good enough for me as an amatuer and besides the SONY A6000 is smaller and lighter. I gave away my large Sony SLR and about 5 lenses. The A6000 bundle comes with a 24-70 and a 70-210 and that is all you need. I recommend this camera.

I always wanted a dslr camera for great quality pics, but I knew that I would not want to carry it around all the time. I kept looking at smaller size camera options and finally..... decided to buy this sony a6000 and try it while on vacation. Overall I am pleased with the picture results and the smaller size camera fits in my purse. I have a lot to learn about the different settings as I am not a professional photographer. Some pictures I took could have been better, but I was able to correct many of "my" mistakes with the Lightroom 5 software that I got along with the camera. I would have liked GPS tagging and a screen that flipped all the way up as on other models, but am happy with the purchase. I only take short video clips, but the quality is great. I'm still not sure about the electronic viewfinder, but that is what I always had on my old point and shoot anyway. This purchase for me was a big upgrade.

Bought this camera for my vacation. Had originally planned on buying a Nikon since it what I have always had but two different associates at the store recommended this one. And it turned out to be one of my biggest regrets. A day into my trip, it started acting funny when I turn it on but didn't give it much thought. Three days later, it completely shuts down. Should have just gotten a Nikon.

I upgraded to this Camera from a Canon T1i I've had for several years. In considering my purchase, I have looked at both Canon and Nikon DSLRs. In the end, I picked the Sony a6000 for its Features and Compact size. Mirror-less is the future and the picture quality rivals any of the DSLR offerings from Canon, Nikon etc. I couldn't be happier with my purchase!
