5/5 Stars - Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* E 24mm f/1.8 ZA Prime Lens: An Unbeatable Lens for Capturing the Northern Lights in Alaska! I recently acquired the Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* E 24mm f/1.8 ZA Prime Lens, and I can confidently say that it has become an irreplaceable gem in my camera gear collection. This lens has truly exceeded my expectations and proved its worth, especially during my trip to Alaska to witness the awe-inspiring Northern Lights. First and foremost, the image quality is simply outstanding. The Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* coating lives up to its reputation, as it significantly reduces ghosting and flare while delivering exceptional clarity and sharpness. The f/1.8 aperture provides stunning low-light performance, making it perfect for capturing the elusive beauty of the Northern Lights dancing across the Alaskan skies. The 24mm focal length strikes an ideal balance between wide-angle perspectives and capturing intricate details in the night sky. During my trip to Alaska, this lens allowed me to frame expansive landscapes while also zooming in on specific celestial formations, creating truly breathtaking compositions. The lens's build quality is top-notch, with a robust metal construction that feels sturdy in hand and provides confidence even in challenging weather conditions. Its compact and lightweight design makes it easy to carry around during extended photography sessions, ensuring maximum comfort without compromising on performance. One of the standout features of this lens is its exceptional ability to handle aberrations and distortions. Even when shooting wide open at f/1.8, I noticed minimal chromatic aberration and distortion, resulting in images that were true to the natural beauty of the Northern Lights. Another noteworthy aspect of this lens is its fast and accurate autofocus performance. When photographing the dynamic Northern Lights display, having a reliable autofocus system is crucial, and this lens didn't disappoint. It locked onto the celestial phenomena swiftly, allowing me to capture those fleeting moments with ease. During my trip to Alaska, I found myself reaching for the Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* E 24mm f/1.8 ZA Prime Lens repeatedly, not only for the Northern Lights but also for capturing stunning landscapes and other low-light scenes. Its versatility and exceptional optical performance make it a go-to lens for various photography genres. In conclusion, the Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* E 24mm f/1.8 ZA Prime Lens is an absolute masterpiece for night sky photography, particularly when capturing the mesmerizing Northern Lights in Alaska. Its exceptional image quality, sturdy build, and reliable autofocus make it an unbeatable choice for any photography enthusiast or professional seeking to capture the wonders of the natural world. I highly recommend this lens to anyone looking to elevate their photography experience and create unforgettable memories, just like I did during my Alaskan adventure!

More accurately I'd give it a 4.5 because auto focus isnt as great as other Sony lenses, but the quality, colors, build all make up for it by alot. This hasnt left my A6000 since and I even sold my other lenses because the quality of this convinced me to upgrade my other lens. Definitely buy it, if you need a wide angle lens or something for street photography. How close you can get with this lens is also amazing!

    Beautiful Lens for Street Photos

I own an A6000, I have the kit lens, the 50 1.8, and the 55-210. Those lens are like the super starter pack and I figured I wouldn't need anything else. I rented a 35mm Zeiss and was very disappointed by it. I looked at this lens and I kept seeing it go out of stock over and over and over again so when it finally came up again I bought it. I got it in and I was really impressed. I opened it with the Best Buy Camera supervisor and he was mind blown with me. The photos are amazingly sharp, the focal distance was perfect for me! The colors are one of the first things that popped out to me when I took a picture. If I'm able to edit this review I will put up some pictures of this beauty. The build quality makes my other lens feel really cheap, (although they kinda are lol) and it comes with a really cool case. Definitely recommend this lens for any A6000 user if you have the money for it. It's my new favorite lens.
