This does not match the sound of the bookshelf speakers at all and is quite jarring while watching movies in surround. The dialogue sounds like its coming from totally difference sources and does not blend at all when the sound pans from left to right in films. The decision to leave the super tweeter off the center channel speaker is an odd one, and is obviously the reason this speaker does not match the set. I ended up buying another set of bookshelf speakers and am currently using one as the center. That being said, if you do not have matching speakers and just need a good sounding center speaker, the Sony is fine.

I bought this to replace my old center channel speaker. When I hooked it up, the volume was way too low, even with the center channel turned to max. I have a Sony AV receiver so I doubt it was a compatibility issue. I returned it and got a Polk speaker which worked fine.

We're sorry to hear if you are experiencing low volume level on the speaker. To resolve the issue, check the setup menu of your AV receiver to see if you can adjust the center channel output level or adjust the center channel equalization. Also, try playing a different source and perform a test tone operation to check if the speakers are functioning correctly.
For additional troubleshooting, follow the steps from the link below to troubleshoot if there is no sound or very low volume from your speaker.

Sound quality usually differs from the source signal and content. While we are not sure what brand/model of amplifier/AV receiver you have this speaker connected to, please ensure that the connections have been correctly made. Some of this issue happened if the bare speaker wires are not properly connected to the speaker terminals. You may also try playing different sources and changing the sound settings of your audio system to isolate the problem.

For this style center, its above average, certainly about as good as you'll get for this price point in BB. The horizontal alignment is critical on this one to get the best sound out of it - use a laser pointer on the top and adjust its front height so that the laser points just above your listening position, and you'll be rewarded which sound that matches the quality of the SSCS3 towers.

The enclosure is heavy and rectangular, which may make it challenging for the user to place in his/her setup. The sound is rich and evenly cast, which is exactly how a center channel should be. Because of the quality of the enclosure, vibration is not an issue in the least - even at high volume with enhanced bass. A good buy for the $120 price I paid!
