I'm very happy with my new camera. The pictures and videos turned out great and it's easy to operate. I bought it to take pictures at the Ohio State gradation ceremony and the pictures are beautiful. I even bought the camera bag. Pictures are better than iPhone pictures.I would recommend this camera to anyone wanting a point and shoot

    Good General Purpose Daylight Camera

While the HX-80 looks like the higher end RX-100 series cameras, it's not in the same league. The sensor size is really the limiting point - there's only so much you can do to pull in light and get it down on a tiny piece of silicon compared to it's 1" siblings. Nonetheless, as a General Purpose, Decent Light camera, it does the job just fine. The big selling points are the Zoom Lens range (24-720mm) and the Electronic Viewfinder. As an enthusiast photographer, the wide end of that zoom sets this camera apart. Most peers can only zoom out to about 28mm, which is fairly pedestrian as wide-angle focal lengths go. 24mm while it doesn't sound like much of a difference from 28, really gets you some dramatic foreground-background compositions. The long end of the zoom is less impressive; since it's at a light-choking f6.3 aperture - which signals you should use this only in good daylight. As much as you can boost the ISO to 3200, you'll really start to see image quality impacts at ISO 800 and higher. That's not to say the higher ISOs are unusable - on the contrary - you'll find them to be pleasantly grainy, but suitable mostly for web publication and e-mail rather than actual printing. And then there's the EVF. The pull-out EVF is sharp, but I have to take points off for the ergonomics/engineering. If you're an eyeglass wearer, the high eyepoint of the EVF will require you to get in close and press your eyeglasses up to the Viewfinder. The design where you press a lever on the side - the EVF pops up - and then you must pull the EVF from the pop-up and telescope it out - is awkward. Also not well designed is the diopter - it's a tiny lever on the top of the telescoping part that can be easily dislodged from it's current setting,. The EVF can look blurry for those two reasons above - a) you didn't pull the VF out enough from the pop-up section, or b) the diopter got moved. Building upon that, if you are really an EVF user, you will want to change the setting where if the EVF is already up, and you push it down, the camera powers OFF. Change that so the camera stays ON. Also, there is an automatic sensor that can tell if your eye is near the EVF and moves the active display to the pop-up. If you move away, it switches the Live View back to the rear LCD. That sensor is a bit hit-or-miss, so if you don't mind looking at everything through the EVF, just turn off the proximity sensor.

Bought this camera while the new Canon G7X II was in stock. Must admit, the camera grew on me for the size. Great quality vid and pics considering the formats available. The only grief I had was the file itself when it came to download. No a fan of the ACHD or whatever. Overall, if your on a budget for a quality point and shoot and ease of use, this is it!

I did not want an SLR, but I wanted better quality pictures than an iPhone. This camera perdpfectly fills the gap. High megapixels; so, you can enlarge photos, plus multiple scene select options allow you great photo options. After lugging around an SLR, I thoroughly enjoyed being able to slide this camera in my coat pocket or place in my backpack.

I really enjoy using this camera. I googled the best setup for this camera and I must say it’s great for about everything. I learn best by others showing how to do things so the video helped me get the hang of the configuring this bad boy. It’s quite easy once you get the hang of it and great for the price

I bought this camera for the tilt screen and I wouldn't be without it. The tilt screen is perfect for taking unobtrusive portrait shots (of friends and family), pictures from over top of things without distortion (food, documents, items), and for getting shots from otherwise hard-to-see angles (from down low, overhead, or around a corner)... The huge drawback of this Sony camera is the glare off the screen, making it almost impossible to see when outside, even with an anti-glare film... The camera actually has too many features and too many symbols so it's hard to know what setting you're using at any one time. And it's difficult to find how to change a setting when a symbol does appear. Add to that that you can't see the screen when outdoors and it can get quite frustrating quickly! ... As a point-and-shoot, it works fairly well, takes decent shots. As a simple camera with a bit of versatility, it's annoyingly complex. I especially wish the help on the camera provided more information and that there was an easy way to view what the many, many icons mean. I can get lost in a jiffy!

I just purchased the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX80 camera, upgrading from my previous Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W290. This new camera is easy to use and to carry, is taking great pictures, and works very well with my recently updated computer. I'm looking forward to using it even more as soon as spring and summer arrive. Thank you, SONY!

I bought this camera because I wanted to start up a YouTube channel LOL while that has happened yet, I have used it already. The zoom is pretty good and the features on this camera are surprising, like the pop up flash and lens for taking pictures. My favorite feature is that the screen flips up. Super convenient when taking selfies. Overall I'm pretty happy with this purchase.

We purchased this as a gift for our parents who were going on a trip overseas ; we wanted something small and simple that would take good quality photos, that could be easily packed and carried throughout the day. They were super happy with it and very excited to capture their trip. Great size, simple to use.

Don't let the size fool you. This is a great camera. Because of its size, it is perfect for travel, but can be used as your only camera. The zoom is great. It has all of the feature and settings needed to go from point and shoot to as creative as you wish. It does not have RAW format, but you will learn to shot around that.

I have become a fan of superzoom (at least 16x) cameras that fit in my pocket. After all, if I don't take it with me, I won't use it. This one had great reviews and all the features I wanted. In particular was the folding viewer that allows the camera to be used for selfies. This works well. The high zoom allows me to get distant shots with good resolution, and the battery life is very good. (I carry two spare batteries on longer trips, yet have not needed both so far.) The drawbacks to the camera: First there seems to be some barrel distortion, even at moderate distances. Second, there are too many controls, e.g., color tweaking. I have found no use for many of them, since they would have to be set/reset before taking the picture and by then the moment has often passed. Third, occasionally the viewer seems to stick on a picture I've just taken and I have to partially depress the shutter to return to the live viewer.

Looked for a camera for an up coming trip and our salesman suggested this reasonably priced one. He seemed to know all about it and said he thought it was probably what we were looking for. And ..... he was right! It's small and fairly light and was extremely easy to use. Thanks Josh.
